Definitive word on PS3 demo date for Resident Evil 5 / RE5 ? (banish me if old)

Sure the images are a little jaggy, I don't find it to be terrible or anything. I kinda suck at RE and I died. Looks like I need co-op help. :lol

It's definitely old. No dirt trails on feet. Also, like, the framerate is not good in this section. I saw a little "sheva rescue" cutscene type thing and the framerate absolutely divebombed.
So wait, did they only put the newer build on XBL?

40%.

So is online co-op available in the demo? If it is, PSN ID: Vicious-chan (lol)

Yup.

First Scenario is more or less a survive till time is up area. Second is standard RE fare.

controller preference or actually something different about how the aiming feels? the 360 demo had a weird lack of acceleration
It's not so much controller preference as it is the way the buttons are configured on 360. Like, okay, so to fire you have to hold L1 and press R1. Now, on 360, you're probably like, "That's totally normal! It is the case for gears!" But in Gears I find myself often beginning to fire without zooming in, so I frequently pull the right trigger accidentally. What this does is often turn me around (Boob Locator technology™) and get me frustrated. Here, I'm sort of used to the control scheme from RE4...which is sort of what my muscle memory is affecting. Sort of different referents.

But it's not a big deal. If you asked me, as a multiconsole owner, which version to purchase if I was looking for the best version, it's 360 (based on this demo). This is not console craphattery. I think the PS3 version will probably be fine. But the demo is a bit early and there is cause for concern.

There was never a physical demo disk for RE5 on 360. Just the online demo. This is probably the demo ripped from the two month old Bluray/DVD thing.

I think the made a demo of both versions quite a while ago (last TGS?) using whatever stage/build they were at with each respective version and just uploaded it now for everyone to download.

Since they probably lead or were further in development on 360 at that time, makes sense that it would have a few more passes done along with some extra polish. I'm sure the final versions of both games should be within 99.9% of one another.

Man will that 0.1% cause some meltdowns...

What exactly doesnt feel like RE4? Granted its a demo and you wont get the full feel of the game without thinking to save ammo, treasures, etc. but the Public Assembly is just like RE4's intro village area, and Shanty Town scenario is..well...standard intro area RE stuff.

The camera needs to be pulled back just abit, but still.

wait... what?

It was posted earlier in the thread:

Basically. Two levels of the game (public assembly and shanty town)

And 3 levels of co-op play: AI, split screen, and online. Yes, they worded that very badly.

Do we know for certain if the JPN build is the same as the US demo build?
I would assume they would use the same demo on disk for the JPN demo, but it could be a newer build for the US. *I know this is wishful thinking...*

Play RE4 and then RE5 and you try tell me that it's the same.

RE5 barely plays like a rusty and dusty version of RE4.

Not for me. Only thing I had to get used to were the controls ( I didn't play the PS2 version).

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
seems like the PS3 version requires a 5 gig install to play. (in the final version)

Just played a bit... I'm really surprised to be honest.

I found myself quitting before I even finished either level. I really don't understand what the problem was. I played through RE4 dozen of times and NEVER struggled like this before. The camera moves so slowly. It was really hard to just see what was in front of me a lot of the time. Aiming felt so sluggish to (I had it set to the second faster option)/

I don't know what to think right now. Game looks like straight up RE4 in HD (I know I would change my mind if I saw them running side by side, but still...) and I didn't see one animation that wasn't lifted from it.

Have a fun! Enjoy!

I just finished playing it. The 360 version definitely looks nicer.

Predictable. Capcom has clearly dropped the ball with regards to PS3 ports.

Only 720p? I thought I read 1080p.

Every Capcom game has been 720P.

Hopefully we will get some type confirmation on the demo builds, because if the 360 version is superior visually I may put up with the controller and pass on the PS3...

Once again a multipltform title is inferior on the PS3. We know the hardware is capable of amazing things so what is the problem? 360 lead? Old build, is it really an old build? Has a version been shown on PS3 that is better than this demo?

Looks like yet another 3rd party title I will be picking up on the 360 :(

Edit:

This is what I'm hoping.

Someone in page 2 said it was an old build. Man I don't even know why they bothered :/

Well, it;s not like GAF is the type of place that would zoom in on screenshots of multiplatform demos and analuze the textures of a brick or balde of grass at 2000X zoom, is it?

*looks at DMC4 thread when demo hit*

Oh......

Capcom should have learned from Devil May Cry 4.
5 GB install as well, when will JP devs take some tips from devs like Naughty Dog or Guerrilla.

44% downloaded. I've been prepared for it to not look as nice, but I can tolerate it because I'm getting the pc version anyway. I just want to see how it plays.

Wow, already bitching about the looks?
I played RE4 on the PS2, where it was "inferior". Enjoyed every second.
Same thing with Killer 7.
People need to lighten up.

Apparently yes, Kotaku (of all sources) mentioned they were shown a later build that is way more far along than that demo.

Capcom shouldn't have done a RE5 demo.
They cost themselves lots of sales.
Not Day 1 anymore.
But will play again tomorrow with a clearer mind.

I've played the 360 demo quite a bit so I could notice a few differences.

Framerate is not as good. Very obvious at the very start of Public Assembly, that very first area has a much better framerate on 360 version. I couldn't tell of a framerate difference in general combat though. And overall it felt fully playable.

I did get the impression the game is more jaggy than 360 places. And the main menu is mysterously blurry compared to 360.

Controls are the same except Type A is the default and aiming is on R1 (on 360 version it's on RT).

Multiplayer is the same. I fail to connect to most people, but once it is connected it works flawlessly.

Sound has some reverb effects I can't remember from the 360 version.

For the heck of it, I actually set up RE4 and RE5 side by side so I could noticate all the minor differences. And the games really feel similar (as long as you choose Type A controls on RE5). The only changes are for the better, like the aiming is smoother and the character is a bit faster to bring up his weapon.

Not really feeling this. I'm sure it's fun online, but I don't like having to worry about a partner in single player. Almost feels like it's going to be one eternal escort mission.

DMC4 looked better and had vastly superior controls. Lost Planet was not that much worse than the 360 version, all bitching aside. RE5 looks fine.

Am I missing something? I probably am.

Thats because the PS3 version was the lead platform then they ported it over to the other console.

Thank you. How can someone say RE5 plays like some dusty version of RE4 when they play the same...even with refined actions (concerning Type A which is the same as the RE4 default control scheme) is just strange. Sure the camera needs to be pulled back abit, but its just like...Super Resident Evil 4 Turbo.

Also hold O and press up or down to set Sheva into a different mode (attack or cover). Pressing O on its own will call Sheva over. Also dont forget to set d-pad shortcuts in your inventory (plan the layout according to the situation). Oh and its easier to give others ammo or items by setting them to a shortcut to equip em for a quick action prompt.

I thought they were using the same multiplatform framework for RE5 that was used for DMC4?

I don't think anyone needs to jump off the deep end, because Capcom has a decent record of making good multiplatform titles. I just would like some type of confirmation regarding the demo if theres significant differences in visuals or framerate.

Framework engine?

EDIT: beaten.

Still, where is the horrible port job I keep hearing about.
