#DEFLATEGATE: Goodell never had any balls

Uhhh, I think everyone would have expected him to come out and say something like, "We're fully cooperating with the NFL and will not make any further comment until the investigation is complete. Our team is concentrating fully on the Seattle Seahawks."

I think a lot of people were surprised with the tone and content of his remarks, especially when we were all saying how buddy-buddy he is with Goodell.
Could be a case of the deluded parent thinking his kids are perfect and would never lie to him.

Then you have to answer why he came out and immediately apologized for Spygate. The guy isn't deluded. You need to do some research on him because he has a lot of integrity.

No, the alternative is common sense.

11/12 of the Patriots supplied balls were found to be deflated. The Colts balls were found to be unchanged.

I've yet to hear a logical explanation for that from anyone. All these absurd scientific studies about atmospheric pressure and weather climate don't address this central point. Under the same conditions, the balls would have been affected in the same exact way.

Two simple possibilities really.

The Colts prefer their balls more inflated to begin with. Lower pressure during the game could still fall within the standard.

Two. The Colts prepare their balls differently prior to logging the psi. Unless the Colts use the exact same method the Pats use to prep and store their balls for the game, any findings would be different. As we've heard multiple times the last few days, every team has different preferences and preps their balls differently. Like a science experiment, you'd have to duplicate the procedure to duplicate results. I'd be surprised if both team's balls matched.

I really don't care if people think they're cheating; just wanted to make a point about the Colts' balls.

This is all bullshit and that fumble stuff has been discussed in this thread multiple times. As I've mentioned, it's someone looking for causation more than anything else. My retort for this fumble stuff is show me a chart of all of Tom Brady's interceptions since 2006 (77 in total) and give me a list of how many were pointed out as being deflated. You can't do a fumble report in a vacuum without taking into account every instance of someone outside of NE using a NE football.

Talk about a red herring. A report highlighting Brady's interceptions has nothing to do with ball control for running backs. It would add nothing to the points brought up in the article. And you dismissing it as already having been brought up is ridiculous, seeing as it hasn't been even remotely refuted.

No way, the statistical outliers are definitely relevant, because the crackpots went on the Internet and said so.

Well, you've got the derpy part down. Crackpots, indeed.

The Pats cause more turnovers than than almost the entire league the last decade. They are probably over inflating the other teams balls. This needs to be checked.

Which has what to do with their statistically improbable lack of fumbles? Pats fans just tossing out whatever and hoping it deflects attention from the issue.

As for the 90 second video, I highly doubt that has anything to do with it. It's just as likely that they have the ref the properly inflated 12th ball to certify, while the others were already flatter.

Is it weird how Bill never mentioned this surveillance video to the media in his investigation presentation when it was the Patriots who handed this video over to the NFL?

No, try again.

He's not the one investigating this stuff, the NFL is. Lots of footage was handed over of the facility, how is he supposed to know there was 90 seconds of someone going to the bathroom? You're starting to sound desperate Jabee, the grasping at straws is real!

This is getting ridiculous now lol. If that kid really was able to deflate 11 balls in 90 seconds hes the real MVP. Patriots haters are grasping to all types of weird theories to justify there guilty until proven guilty sentence lol.

No, if you actually paid attention you'd know the Colts balls are inflated more than the Pats. Within the acceptable range. Try to keep up.
Assuming the Colts' balls started at 13.5, this still means the Pats' balls lost MORE air. Balls starting at higher PSI to begin with would lose more than those starting with less if anything.

Is anyone in here arguing in the Pats' favor here NOT a Pats fan? Honest question.

It takes like 3 seconds to deflate a ball to those specs. Sadly people are trying it out. So technically yes it could be done.

I hate Goodell but what exactly has the NFL done or said that deserves an apology? It's the media who is going crazy with this whole thing. The NFL has said almost nothing besides "we are investigating this and have no further comments".
Leaks come from somewhere and a bunch of then seemed designed to implicate guilt.

Man it is so hard to keep up with all facts and conjecture of #Ballghazi maybe I can borrow some Adderall from the Seahawks so I can keep things straight.

I hate the pats

As for the colts balls, they simply needed to have been cooler when pumped

Wait, who times someone going to the bathroom? If they were going to keep track of how long he went to the bathroom why not just in there with him to make sure nothing happens to the balls?

There is a conspiracy here.

He was seen on video going into the bathroom and comes back out 90 seconds later. They 90 seconds comes from watching the video.....not someone standing outside the bathroom with a stop watch.

Or they just timed him entering the bathroom to when he leaves via the video they obtained...

My god there are so many hoops being jumped

Good question.

And I think the damage is already done to the Pats. Whether they cheated or didn't cheat is kinda moot now. I know Pat fans don't want to hear that and/or believe it....but it's true. People will always associate the Patriots with cheating (outside NE at least). It's like how people think about Barry Bonds. The first thing that comes to mind is steroids. Not the fact of just how good of a player the man was, or the records he set. But Steroids.

The whole Belichick/Brady era is going to be tainted as 'cheaters'. Fair or unfair that's just the way it is.

I am not a pats fan. I am arguing that rushing to judgment is a mistake.

This could be some stupid cheating. Or it could be a bunch of nothing. The NFL screwed this investigation up something fierce either way

Why would the Patriots turn in the tapes if they have something to hide? Weird

And why would Belichick and Brady lie to the public and to Kraft?

This whole thing is just nonsense. It's rumor mill freakout and Pats hate combined

Brady's balls were perfect

Are they putting 12 balls in a bag before they try it? Because dumping a bad, deflating, and getting everything back in the bag seems a bit unlikely.

Not really. Line the balls up and you can deflate them in like 5 seconds each. All the ball boy has to say is he took a piss though and the NFL has nothing to stand on. Assuming they never properly measured them to begin with.
