#DEFLATEGATE: Goodell never had any balls

You really should share these inside sources with the rest of us. Everything's pointing the Patriots doing nothing wrong, but I'm sure you know better.
What? Lol

The fact that they're being investigated. The balls were deflated. There is surveillance video of a ball boy taking the balls into an obscured area on the field. The fact that we have quotes of Tom Brady saying he likes the ball under inflated. The balls were underinflated. The fact that other teams tipped the NFL off in the past based on the fact that they too suspected foul play. These are teams and equipment staffs that handle and inflate footballs all the time in many different environmental conditions. The fact that the Patriots were caught cheating in a systematic way in the past.

That looks a lot more reasonable so I'm glad that someone looked at the data in a more meaningful way. He kind of falls apart at the end though trying to explain why there was a sudden change in the Patriots ball efficiency starting in 2007. Trying to explain that away as "well everyone just got better!" isn't very scientific.
Don't forget the highly improbably fumble rate that only happened after the rule change that would allow them to underinflate balls in the first place.
A more softly inflated ball would be easier to grasp and not bounce as far away when dropped. Also, it would be a lot easier to fall on without squirting away in a pile. There's a trade off in having an under-inflated ball vs a regulation ball but the negative impact would mostly be to the distance the ball could travel. How often do the Patriots stretch the field nowadays?

Edit: Eh, I misread your post.

Please see the link I just posted.
First, an admission. I am a life-long New England Patriots fan. You could probably assume that because there is no other reason I would put the time into this analysis that I have.

I hope we're not wasting his time!

The original statistical analysis is questionable though.

That's why I didn't even mention it in the "nothing points" to them doing anything wrong post.

No, but you played the same BS...

"There is surveillance video of a ball boy taking the balls into an obscured area on the field."

Rather than

"Went into a bathroom for 90 seconds".

Too bad Branduil won't read it because it goes against their bias.

Stopped reading there.

Every time more shit comes up exonerating the Pats, I just picture your face looking like this.

Clearly the Vikings need to be investigated. And by the logic of Jabee if you're investigated then you're automatically guilty.

EDIT: Jabee cleared of all wrong doing

Well there you go
I said I don't buy into the original fumble analysis. There is enough information available to rationally claim the Pats probably cheated. I didn't even bring up the fumble study!

The GAF commission has investigated your claim and has found insufficient evidence to properly shit on you.

However due to your past posting history nobody is going to believe you

i didn't say it like that at all just made the point that nothing you say about them holds credibility.

I'm guilty of hating the Pats and seeing the worst in their actions. I am the counter-weight to the 1950s public education of the Patriot dynasty up until this point.

I represent the "People's History" of the Pats dynasty!

The Pats Fan history of SpyGate and DeflateGate is the old 1950s history text that used to be legal in Alabama.

I guess I missed the part where the Vikings were previously caught illegally spying and also suddenly got mysteriously better at fumbles in the same year where teams were allowed to inflate their own footballs. But sure, test their balls too if you want to.

Proven serial cheaters don't deserve or get the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah but still!!!!

Serial cheaters means caught multiple times, Pats were caught once after a memo was released.

This is getting kinda embarrassing at this point that people won't let go of pre-conceived notions fed to you by salty people, especially when the person who initiated Spy-Gate said he regrets the whole thing because of the cluster fuck it created by people who only look up things that support their bias in a silly attempt to diminish one of the best sports dynasties ever.

Also you're missing after 06 they ditched the grass and got artificial turf. Ever think that may have an impact on fumbles?

Oh, and they had the best offense they ever had in 07. And they continues to add on to their offensive power after 07

There's a ton of circumstantial evidence that they cheated. But that's the problem... it's all circumstantial. Meaning they'll get off easy; and Goodell has plausible deniability. Spygate was different in that respect.

Look if you want to cheer for a team that cheated to win that's okay, lots of people do it. But own that cheating. Instead it seems like all Pats fans want the wins while also pretending that nothing ever happened and Bill and Brady is beyond reproach. They can't stand the fact that people look down on them for the dirty cheaters they are.

That's the thing. There isn't. Balls lose pressure based on a natural process. The NFL hasn't said if they check ball pressure periodically through every game. It is highly probably that teams play with deflated balls on the field all the time.

Why are they even going through the motions of an investigation of any kind then. They could have defused the whole thing immediately. Why didn't they.

I know the cognitive dissonance hurts for Pats fans.

Yea, those dirty cheaters. Could you imagine if the press saw the tapes, I'm sure then all the facts would come out and just show how much of cheater the Pats are.

I'll defend my team, at least I'm not making stuff up on the fly or constantly ignoring stuff that goes against me. Keep that salt coming though, we're gonna need to to clean the streets tonight.

The only one hyping this up has been the Media desperate for a story. The NFL has said nothing other than they're doing an investigation.

What cognitive dissonance. You post saying there is a ton of circumstantial evidence against the Pats when all we have is one ball under 2 PSI and a ball boy in the bathroom for 90 seconds. Just because the NFL handled this poorly doesn't mean that the Pats cheated. The science is real and even if you want to say a loss of more than one PSI is impossible. A loss of 0.1 PSI would still be under if they were at 12.5. If you are going to hold this rule up as some pillar of integrity than you should realize that the rule is probably broken in most outdoors games and is probably for sure broken on really cold days.

I don't even think the NFL has mishandled this. The entire story has been fueled through half truths and rumors from the Sports Media. NFL has just said they're looking into it. Just look how many people in this thread think the Colt's balls were looked at.

And you people won't be happy until every Pats fan has to go through a 20 minute speech before talking about their team on how they're terrible people and how they hate cheering for this team but they have to because it's the way it is but oooohhh the shame the shame I feel every day is truly a burden upon my dark soul oh woe is me for cheering for such vile, hateful people.

Well, that'd be a start.

If the Pats did cheat, the fact that they won't receive a punishment this season just goes to show that cheaters prosper in the NFL.

Who cares about losing a future draft pick or getting fined when you can help yourself to a Super Bowl?

The Pats already proved this in the early 2000s. Keep the prestige, the dynasty, and the wins. All you have to do is pay the same fine that Marshawn Lynch would have been forced to pay if he didn't talk at media day. Add a pick, and you just bought a dynasty built on cheating.

I wonder how many times you're going to say essentially the same thing over and over in this thread. Don't you ever get bored?

I just disagree with the notion that we don't understand what happened with Spygate. I feel that the Pats did cheat again. I think that Spygate was more serious than this and all the Pats received was a slap on the wrist. I'm stating my case just as anyone else in this thread can do the same.

By all means man keep posting, I'm not trying to stop you, 40 pages just seems like a long time to be on the hate train.

Lots of "ifs" in there. We don't know anything just yet except that they are looking into a single (1) ball that was under an acceptable psi ratio. People like you, and the media who love to have something to talk about in the downtime between the Champs and the Super Bowl are blowing this way out of proportion because of your hatred of NE.

This whole "league inside source" nonsense is getting out of hand. It's like you can make up anything you want and hide the lie behind a "source."

The league only needs a "preponderance of evidence" to find the Pats guilty. This is the same standard as a civil suit.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/01/27/low-standard-of-proof-applies-to-deflategate/

Kraft isn't getting his apology!

Per a league source, the “preponderance of the evidence” standard applies in cases involving allegations of conduct that undermines the integrity of the game. That comes from the league policy manual given to every team.

It’s the standard that applies in civil litigation, a “more-likely-than-not” assessment of the proof that equates to, essentially, a 51-49 test far less stringent than proof beyond a reasonable doubt, which applies in criminal cases.

Although Patriots owner Robert Kraft has insisted on “hard facts as opposed to circumstantial leaked evidence to drive the conclusion of this investigation,” circumstantial evidence could be sufficient to overcome any legal standard — especially a low one like “preponderance of the evidence.”
Depending on the full extent of the evidence obtained during the ongoing investigation, that could be bad news for the Patriots.

There is no need for a smoking gun.

I mean, the inverse is true, if this is such nonsense, why not ignore it since it's obviously nothing and you may as well be arguing about the grassy knoll, right?

The specific rule they broke during spygate was not put into effect until the 2006 offseason. Taping signals from the sidelines was 100% legal during their championship seasons.
