Destiny 2 Director Asks Fans For Feedback For First Expansion

Please don't listen to people that say bring back rolls

I really hope they dont listen. Static Rolls are the best thing. What they should do is expand the mod system and allow for extra handling etc to be added to weapons and diff perks for armor.

Put a gun in the game called Stockholm Syndrome that requires experience leveling and drops with random perks.

Right. Because its insane people really want to just have one game to play and be addicted to playing the same stuff over and over and over and over again to be disappointed that one gun isnt the one with the EXACT perks they want.

Record books. And strike-specific loot. Destiny 1 live team was doing great work near the end there.

Yeah, they really were. I liked that there was a set loot table for Strikes with gear themed after the bosses. The gear was interesting and visually unique.

Theres a diff between going flawless in trials and having an actual ranking system

My understanding is that there is one in the Competitive playlist. They just don't surface it to players.

So you want them to artificially lengthen the game with RNG despite that desire being a small portion of the people who play.

The only answer is to have more weapons in the game. With good rolls.

Just adding random rolls to existing weapons doesn't add "content" and "value" to the game.

Make it more like Rise of Iron in every way.

I don't know why Destiny 2 had to take so many steps backward. It's like the A team and the B team aren't talking to each other.

This is what I want too.

The thing I miss the most is auto dismantling of gear below your current level.

However if they added that I would only play half the time that I do as most of the time is spent dismantling Crap

Off the top of my head I'd like to see:

- Increased vault size with separate tabs for Weapons/Armor/Mods/Other stuff, with better sorting options (at least same options in-game as the D2 App), and the ability to dismantle an item without having to fucking back out of the vault...which might be the most infuriating minor thing in both D1 & D2.

- More Ammo - Ammo drops are ridiculous. You shouldn't repeatedly run out of ammo during strikes or the raid. Power ammo? Yes. Kinectic and energy ammo? No. I feel like there shouldn't even be limited ammo for either Kinectic or Energy weapons in PvE, it's just annoying.

- Subclass Buffs - Dawnblade, Sunbreaker, and most of the Hunter subclasses are worthless right now. Sunbreaker got nerfed into oblivion, and Dawnblade is just barely more useful than Sunbreaker.

- Shader vendor - let me buy shaders I've already acquired with glimmer and/or legendary shards, since they are completely useless outside of Xur.

- Buffs to exotics. ~90% of exotics are worthless right now outside of a few choice armor ones and a handful of weapons.

- More loot variety - whether that is different perk rolls or different models. Not a whole lot of variety in looks/archetypes right now in weapons or armor for a game that's all about loot. I would like to at least see armor roll the stats randomly so you could build around certain stats more than you are currently able, due to the inherent perks on armor pieces.

- Individual Strikes and heroic strike playlist - Let me choose what strike I want to do individually, or select the playlist. Heroic Strike playlist would be great, as well, with the buff for xp/loot after playing a few in a row.

- Less tokens. The token system was not bad until I sadly learned every damn vendor in the game used the token system. I was okay with it on planetary vendors, but having it for everyone and everything sucks.

- Make raid gear have perks that are useful for the raid. Right now the raid gear is pointless outside of looks, except for the rocket launcher.

- Grimoire/Lore Archive - Give me a tab for all the lore from scannable objects I have found, make it well organized, and allow me to read or replay the ghost audio for each, as well as have the lore from any exotics I have acquired.

- Destiny 1 locales - Would be awesome if it were possible to bring over the old patrol zones from the first game, if nothing else.

- Lost Sector gear - It would be awesome if Lost Sectors had their own gear sets or specific loot that had a chance of dropping upon completion.

- Strike-specific Loot - I'd like to see a return of the strike-specific loot drops from D1, as well.

- Europa - Let me fucking go here. The concept art for Europa for Destiny 1 looked amazing. So sick of treading around Earth and places that look mostly like Earth, which leads me to....

- More creativity - Weapon designs, exotic designs (ones that were not carried over from Destiny 1 at least), armor designs, and the destinations are all pretty boring. Earth is....Earth. We've been fighting at places on Earth for the majority of Destiny 1. I get that it's humanity's only stronghold, but there are so many other places we could be playing. The problem is, when we get to other planets and moons, they are basically just like Earth. The Moon was my favorite place in Destiny 1 because it actually felt like the Moon and not sort of the Moon, but "touched by the Traveler" to make it look like Earth. I want some bolder, more creative choices in the way the destinations look. Earth is fine in Destiny 2. Nessus looks great, but looks so similar to Venus from Destiny 1 due to the Vex. I was so excited to be able to go to Titan, but take away the skybox and the shimmering, electric charged hydrocarbon ocean water effect, and it just feels like an oil rig on Earth. Io is great in its looks, but I felt they played it quite safe and didn't utilize all the terrain they could have. Also, it's full of the most annoying enemy in the game. :(

I never imagined people would be asking for more content in Destiny 2.

Does anyone else not even bother using multiple shaders on armor? I think it looks ugly. I still only use one shader.

This was also the case in Destiny 1. The majority of dupes became shards. This isn't new to Destiny 2.
Yeah. Majority of them. But there was still always a moment of excitement and mystery when you checked the perks to see if, perhaps, you got a better roll than the one you’re using.

Unless of course you already had the top tier “god roll”, but those were extremely rare and part of the chase.

I use a combination of the different Hakke shaders, but they're all pretty similar anyway. Pretty much the only reason I'm playing at the moment is to get Hakke Camo for all my favourite weapons.

I mean...loots ok...but i feel like people are saying the actual playing of the game is pointless without loot. I would much much rather just have more areas, story missions, strikes, etc than actually care about what shit ill get from it that i will use all of 2hrs before junking it for something better.

Sounds like you don't want a loot based game at all. I don't know any MMOs that have dungeons and discovery with no rewards.

I agree. Make exotic weapons actually do cool things. Make them the best weapons. Right now I have no reason to use them.

Just adding random rolls to existing weapons doesn't add "content" and "value" to the game.

Asking for straight up more just seems like a lazy thing to ask for though. We all want more.

So the question in my opinion becomes "why can't/don't they add more interesting guns?"

I always come back to the same thing: multiplayer balance.

So for me it's not just "I want more stuff" (which I don't think is useful feedback), it's "I want more varied and interesting guns, but I think that's accomplished by separating balance to an extent."

There are a few things I'd like to see in the next major update.

Strikes and Story missions should be spots on the map just like the Adventures. We really should be able to replay them when we get the urge. Ikora should still offer her Heroic versions, though. Zavala should also offer a Heroic Strike that changes daily.

On the subject of Strikes, there really should be Strike specific loot. It's a real shame that they looped that back from the first game. Those things really kept me grinding. I was frustrated doing it, but I still had a good time. Hell, in order to satiate the RNG needs of some of the people out there, the Strike specific loot could have random perks.

When playing the Crucible I should really be rewarded for winning. I should be rewarded for performing well, and my team should be rewarded for winning. I should get the same amount of tokens whether I win or lose. Give me 1 token for losing and 3 for winning. It's simple and doesn't take much effort. I'd even say to increase the chances of post-match legendaries for winners.

More variety in armor. It's been that way since Destiny 1, but I was pretty disappointed when I saw that the Faction armor were just skins for current sets. The same goes for the Iron Banner weapons.

Heroic versions of Lost Sectors and Adventures. Give me a reason to replay this stuff. Let me figure out some cool puzzles within the Lost Sectors in order to unlock the Heroic versions, too.

New Public Events. These should change every season or update. It'd be fun to see some new stuff coming through the patrol areas.

Give me those Orpheus Rigs, too.

Let’s see:

PvE
- more strikes
- more weapons
- more armos
- more USEFUL exotics

PvP
- massive revamp, consisting of new netcode, dedicated servers. Otherwise, any “fixes” are just bandaids, on a shitty experience.

I am glad they removed some gambling mechanics from D1, like random weapon rolls.

60fps multiplayer with dedicated servers.
Triple the amount of weekly milestones by adding strikes, adventures and lost sectors into the mix.
Add a heroic or harder mode to content.

No its just that it seems like everyone glazes over all the actual game parts and all the conversation is on loot numbers.

I mean, if that's the part they are critical of, what's wrong with that?

If the game plays just fine but the loot system sucks (the power curve being largely flat to me is a huge problem), then what is the point of the loot system to begin with? Why don't they just make another Halo-style game with even more in-depth customization options?

If they are going to half-ass the loot system, I would just rather not have it included at all. At least then there's no expectation on the loot end of things.

Meet the hardcore - poop-socking no lifers and people with jobs and families half way.

Give the hardcore guys something to grind for while refreshing the loot pool to keep the casuals oblivious. I can't take any more of the whining.

Classy.

PVE weapon balancing not impacted by PVP. Of course they’ll never do this but we need more OP and exciting weapons in PVE

Make handcannons fun to use. It was the main draw of destiny’s gameplay for me. The gameplay feels so dull now

The return of some kind of Heroic verison of story and adventure missions will probably happen.

It smells of something they removed just to patch in later to look like they support the game. Just like how they gutted PvP to 2 playlists. You just know they will slowly trot out the old ones over time even though they should have been there day 0

Faster Fallen walkers.

A spider tank should be infinitely more mobile and challenging than the pathetic scrap of metal we have now.

It isn't guaranteed to have anything. We barely know its name is Gods of Mars at this point. And I guess the fact it's ostensibly on Mars.

Well its 100% called Curse of Osiris and its guaranteed to have the following as a Bungie employee confirmed it

- Explore Mercury and its mysterious “Infinite Forest”
- New story missions and adventures
- New themed weapons, armor, and gear to earn
- New cooperative activities
- New competitive multiplayer arenas
- And more...

If it does have a raid, I doubt bungie wants to spoil anything of it atm.

Erp :p I meant the second expansion. Derped and thought that was a December thing.

I just hope future multiplayer maps are interesting and unique. Every map in D2 feels the exact same, D1 had great maps with very different layouts and themes.

I certainly hope Mercury is more akin to Io and the EDZ than to Nessus :P

I hear ya, but we're talking about a game where this was a huge thing:

The only way to keep the focus on the gameplay for its own sake is to be careful not to load it all with all of those extrinsic rewards.
