This is amazing...
This is amazing...
They must think they have a legal loophole, but this is straight-up an advertisement for Destiny on Xbox.
Are they really not allowed to advertise? They had Destiny displayed at the Gamescom conference and on the Dashboard. They're selling digital preloads.
I just don't get it.
MS seems to be doing a better job marketing this hame than Sony.
When I woke up this morning it was raining outside. I immediately took it as a sign the XB1 wasn't selling well.
What?! Is that really "Bungie/Sony partnership bans Ms from marketing destiny", or have I misunderstood?
"omg theyre so desperate"
cmon guys... lol
I think it's pretty clever. I don't think it's desperation, they just took a lousy situation and did what they could with it.
More than that, I think it's ridiculous certain platform holders can be restricted from even advertising products coming out for their system. More unnecessarily exclusionary BS in the gaming space.![]()
I know you were trying to be witty but follow me here it raining in your city cannot directly effect the sales of a game but advertising can effect the sales of a game. So Microsoft putting out an ad like this is them trying to effect the sales of Destiny on XBO. Them researching ways to get around Sony's exclusive advertising agreement suggests that they might be dissatisfied with the preorder sales of Destiny and are looking for ways to increase that. If they were doing great I doubt they would worry about an ad campaign like this.
Are you sure Sony haven't had deals like this last Gen?You do know ms has many deals in place like sony has with destiny right, comes across childish, I'm glad sony hasn't done stuff like that last gen and this as it would also look silly. I suppose ms has so many deals like the sony destiny one.

I wonder why MS didn't secure marketing rights for this game. Seemed like a given.

Yeah, also if Xbox Live doesn't crash on Tuesday it's a pretty bad sign.

Yep much like Microsoft with Advanced Warfare and the Witcher 3 Sony has exclusive advertising rights for Destiny. This means that any and all ads and game footage must be shown running on a PS4.
lmaoSony only gets Destiny...

What really makes it funny is this they sent out over a month ago

This all seems like MS whining about the consequences of Sony's deal
Or someone on the Xbox team just thought of a funny joke, and made it happen over lunch. It's not like they're running a TV ad that took weeks of planning and dozens of people's involvement. Some of you guys take this shit so seriously it's genuinely hilarious. EVERYTHING has a deeper meaning for you.
Sony marketing deals are weird. Blizzard couldn't even acknowledge that an Xbox One version of Diablo III existed until late in development. How do you force one company to not run adverts for your own product? Gaming business can be so simple, yet weird and complex at other times
Honestly I thought it was pretty clever.
Until that hidden page was opened.
That was the part that sounded incredibly salty to me.
Reading the story of this, this is ridiculous for Sony/Bungie too. Microsoft isn't allowed to advertise the game is coming to their console?
Exclusive crap has to end.
Hmm, can somebody explain this thing to me ?
I don't care about console wars, that's not my point here, but how on earth are COD, AC and Evolve considered exclusives ? For COD there may indeed be some timed exclusive going on with the DLC, granted, but AC is typically in the reverse position and I never heard anything about Evolve exclusivity-wise.
Looks an awful lot like a misleading ad, to say the least.

It's nothing new, I've not seen a call of duty ad for playstaion in the uk on tv due to ms having the ads.
.....do you know how marketing partnerships work?
Lets say bayonetta was multiplatform but Nintendo had a partnership in marketing, that would mean neither sony nor MS could market it due to the terms of the contract. Its been like this for about 2ish gens
Can't wait for the "Scent of Lara" from Sony lol
Yeah, also if Xbox Live doesn't crash on Tuesday it's a pretty bad sign.
