So how is this not marketing? The Destiny name (in it's weird font/design) and a Xbox logo.
This is really funny but man their Destiny XBO pre-order numbers must be terrible.
What really makes it funny is this they sent out over a month ago

This all seems like MS whining about the consequences of Sony's deal
MS can't market Destiny (the game) for Xbox so they found some legal loopholes (This ad and US free game deal) and they're indirectly advertising the game. It's creative move but isn't that a little shady?

Last I checked, all versions of Destiny have been doing pretty well on Amazon.
Maybe because they simply didn't think of doing it?
Funny ad up to the point where they say "Thanks for smelling that something was up."
That seemed to push it from being satire to sounding desperate/whinny since that would directly imply that their own purchasing of exclusives and marketing rights smell as well.
When did they say that?Maybe, but I don't really have a problem with them using loopholes, its what they're there for, ha ha, and if I was an Xbox exec, of course I'd want people to know Destiny (perhaps the biggest game this year) is coming to Xbox, but it seems they're restricted with what and how they can promote it.
I just cringe at the hypocrisy of them saying "Exclusive promotion/content is bad!"
ms: ha-ha!...
sony: ignore & proceed to curbstomp...
the end...
You're the same dude who says don't judge sales by amazon in the console threads.
Some of you people seem so eager to shit on Microsoft at any opportunity its hilarious. Sony bought exclusive advertising rights to Destiny and Microsoft thought of a clever way to let people know its also on Xbox. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this and it doesn't reek of desperation in any way. Some people need to take a break from the internet for a while and realize how silly you sound when you post stuff like this.
See above. My favorite part about this is it actually making people mad.
When did they say that?
I've heard that fragrance has very high sodium content.

Man, I think some people in this thread would have gone insane during the '90s based on some of these reactions.
The ads back then were far more "desperate".

Yesterday I was applauding Microsoft for their ballsy free game promotion during Destiny launch week. Now, I'm shaking my head at how pathetic and desperate they look.
Jesus Christ, have some self respect guys.
god damn Sony sounds like a cold killer
I'm salty that people are getting salty about people getting salty.

They imply it.
"we didnt have permission to run adverts for this game"
"Thanks for smelling something was up"
Thats them implying they're not happy about it, but they still do the exact same thing. They just didnt happen to be able to do it for Destiny this time.

I'd be amazed if MS didn't have a first right of refusal to this type of thing when Bungie split from MS.
Can't tell if this is amazing, or stupidity.
