Info on the records:
The 10-track LP, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, will be released on 17 October on his own label, Sour Mash Records. A second, more "out there" album will follow in 2012, Gallagher said.
Gallagher said his new album would appeal to Oasis fans, but it was not "stadium rock". "It's not very Guitar Hero," he joked. The album, recorded in London in 2010 and completed in Los Angeles was produced by Gallagher and David Sardy, who he has worked with before.

Commenting on his 18-track collaboration with Amorphous Androgynous, due in 2012, Gallagher said:

"It's really fucking far out man. It's the furthest out I've ever been. It's good though."

Gallagher said he would be touring soon after the first album, and promised fans he would also play Oasis classics. "They are my songs and I wrote them all by myself. I'm proud of them and of what they mean to people. I'll never do a gig without playing them, they're like drugs to me," he said.

A few comments about the oasis blow-up:
Gallagher said he regretted the manner in which he left Oasis. "We only had two gigs left." If he had stayed, the singer said, perhaps the band could have discussed their problems and avoiding splitting up. "But then Liam always said he would bring down Amageddon." He added: "Liam doesn't like me. I don't get on with him but he doesn't like me in a very violent way […] I did everyone a favour when I left."
Asked about Liam's comments that he was "better off" without his brother, Gallagher said. "I'm sure he is. Am I better off? I don't know […] I never really saw myself as a frontman, I can see it being a major pain in the arse. He's better off without me because he's in charge now. Whether I am better off without him remains to be seen."

Here is a portion of the Amorphous Androgynous remix of Falling Down which I absolutely loved. The full song is 22 minutes.. this version is 9 minutes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nc2qDGrEGgE

I really tried to get into Amorphous Androgynous. Maybe it was just the songs I listened to, but the shit put me right to sleep. The 2 songs I've heard from them seem right up his alley. They open and close a lot of their songs with some of the most annoying distortion and feedback, like he does. I love Noel, started playing guitar 3 years ago because I was inspired by some of his acoustic sets. But there are some little things he likes to do with the album production of his songs that have worn thin with me over time.

I'll give the first album a chance, although 4 songs on it have already been heard through sound checks and demos.

The ex-Oasis guitarist is due to announce full details of his new record, on his own label Sour Mash at a London press conference at 12 noon today (July 6). The album will be released on October 17.
Very few details are known about the album so far other than the title, release date and rumours that the first single from the record will be the 'The Death Of You And Me'.
The Death Of You And Me? hype!

I really enjoyed the work Liam produced, and I've always been more partial to Noel.
Really looking forward to this album! I was afraid he had pretty much stopped working for the last several months.

Can't wait. Not too fond of the name but think everyone will just refer to 'them' as Noel Gallagher anyway.

The full tracklisting for 'Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds' is as follows:

'Everybody's On The Run'
'Dream On'
'If I Had A Gun'
'The Death Of You And Me'
'(I Wanna Live In A Dream In My) Record Machine'
'AKA...What A Life!'
'Soldier Boys And Jesus Freaks'

'Stop The Clocks'

If I had a gun is getting an album release?! YES!
Record machine and stop the clocks too? Fantastic, I hope they're even better when the disc drops.

A little disappointed it's not more completely new material, but I'm glad these are finally getting an official release.

He looks like marlon brando at the start of the godfather with that dark room, hahahaha!

edit: man, Noel sounds rather humble responding to his brother's "better off" comment.

Niice, fuck yeah @ If I Had a Gun being on this.

I liked Beady Eye, but mostly because of Liam's vocals. I'm confident the songwriting on this will be superior.

Watching the press conference, i kinda feel bad for Noel. Seems like he loved Oasis but couldn't deal with Liam any more. He seemed a little sad especially when he was talking about missing Gem... i don't know. I guess he doesn't like Andy :)

Looks pretty good for 44.

Don't forget that Gem went with Liam when he could have stayed on Noel's side (I think they still play acoustic shows together, but that's about it).

I totally forgot that Amorphous Androgynous is actually Future Sound of London. That's amazing.

God I loved the Wipeout XL soundtrack.. incredible.

The single releases the same date as Be Here Now (21.08) and that can only mean good things (no sarcasm). I can't wait to see what the Chief has cooked up this time. Monday can't come soon enough.

But why do we need to wait a month to buy the single?? Do they really think it is wise to let everyone be tired of the song before it is released as a single? Just don't get this kind of thinking, I could see how it worked before mp3 and internet arrived, but now everyone have downloaded it way before 21.08.

Oh wow, glad to find some other Noel fans on GAF. Glad this thread exists.

Im not on any team Gallagher. I saw Beady Eye a couple weeks ago in Philly. I'll just say I'm very, very interested in the Noel album.

Disappointed that the video doesn't play on mobile devices. Really interesting video once I was able to check it out.. song sounds great! It's pretty safe as far as first singles go but that doesn't diminish its quality.

I loved Oasis. There never was a band that fit so closely to my own taste as them and propably there never will be again (and the funny thing is..I don't really like Beatles :D ) For a while
Code:
it almost felt to me like modern music ended when they broke up.

Still, I really enjoyed Beady Eye's songs so far, hope the same will be true for Noel's solo works. In ideal world Oasis' split will ultimately mean I will be getting twice as much Oasis-like music as before :)

Well that sure was an interesting first single.

My first thought after hearing it beginning to end is that it sounds like something I would hear at the circus. The plodding beat and then the horns kicking in is what gives it that feel.

It's not his strongest work ever, but I'm really liking it. I think it'll keep growing on me the more I listen to it.

Already caught myself humming it, haha.

I've listened to it 20 times already and I'm loving it. Definitly got much better after initial one-two times

Ugh, $7.10 shipping on the website.. it's cool they're offering Apple Lossless and FLAC as download options as well but that's obnoxious. Probably just buy this off Amazon and rip my own copy.

After 2:25 of the video when he pushes her in the water, with the trademark Noel melody, verses and climax after that point, i can sense the stadium singalong that will occur.

Solid first track. Didn't overly impress me upon first listen, but I've found myself humming it quite a bit today so I guess it's successful, haha.

I really can't wait to hear this record.

Everybody's on the Run will be backed by string samples and choir, I'm sure the diehard among you will have seen this on Noel's site:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJWJmQFbWU8

Here's an acoustic version of it to give you an idea of what it might sound like with his voice:

The Death of You and Me has grown on me exponentially in the last few days, I find myself singing it spontaneously -- it's one of his best songs already imo. I can't wait for him to tour!

Same here. It's just traditionally catchy, and I love it.

I just read at the front page of NME that Liam is suing Noel because Noel claimed Liam was hungover and had to cancel their V festival gig in 09. Liam says he was diagnosed by a doctor with laryngitis and Noel's comments are harmful to his professional career.

Wow. Could Liam be even more of a knob here? (if this is true)

He's not seeking any money. Says he just wants an apology.

I'm not sure how English law works in cases of libel or slander, but it's very difficult to prove either in a U.S. Court.

The story came from The Sun, a tabloid

100% bullshit

People want to believe the worst in Liam and to add fuel to their quarreling
