If you want a survival horror game, you play DMC1. If you want a AAA action game, you play DMC1. Either way, DMC1 wins.

It's a massively superior game to DMC3.

Meh, gameplay-wise DMC3 craps all over the first and as far as cutscenes go...

This >>>>>>>>>> the ones you posted, and there's a lot more where that came from:

I can't agree with these statements at all...Its akin to the classic sonic vs modern sonic rubbish.

They are different flavours of the same ice-cream. One doesn't significantly edge out the other, they both have their bad and good points.

I love DMC3 more not because I consider it a much better game, but its more suiting to my playstyle and tastes. I can still appericate DMC1 for what it is and being the originator of the series.

we are all fans of the series and we all (well mostly) agree that DmC is going to be failed abortion thats only going to be marginally better than DMC2. Let both groups enjoy the based goodness and leave the flaming for talking to NT apologists.
Or Ninja gaiden fans...jk ;-)

Running a game at a new, higher native resolution isn't upscaling. The internal resolution has been changed, 16:9 support has been added, the titles may now feature AA/AF, and other miscellaneous changes could have been made.

doesn't mean shit if those textures are still so terrible to look at.

The only thing that matters in an action game is the gameplay and DMC3's shits all over DMC1's.

I like DMC1's art direction about a billion times more than DMC3's, but...there were segments in DMC3 that looked almost Xbox quality and way better than anything in DMC1(in terms of graphical significance).

Please don't turn this beautiful announcement into DMC1 vs. DMC3 crap. They're both phenomenal games, and people owe it to themselves to play them. And they're both also looking great in HD.

Well aside from the ones you missed these ones would benefit hugely from HD visuals(check emulation threads for proof).
FF12
Rogue Galaxy
Max Payne 1+2
Dragon Quest 7

And these titles are good those who missed it.
Persona3+4
Dark Cloud 1+2
Viewtiful Joe series
Burnout 3

I don't really care if they make all of these cause I have played them all but they would be great addition for those who haven't. I'm sure many of you can attest to that.

Why is that in quotations? It runs in HD.

And it runs very well in HD on the 360, even when all sorts of shit is going down in Mercenaries. If only it had online leaderboards for that mode.

Here's what I think (based on the pictures)...

DMC1 looks worse because it's missing that 'lava-effect'-filter.

DMC2, I don't give a flying dick about.

DMC3 looks MUCH better (but that's probably because the original DMC3 looked like garbage anyway).

Can't wait to buy the whole collection to play DMC3 HD though!

Bought!

But Sony, this doesn't make up for your dastardly scheme: removing BC in the first place and forcing me to re-buy my favorite games.

And what I wouldn't pay for an HD Onimusha Dawn of Dreams. Dunno why people crap all over the best game in the series.

Ah, gonna feel good to get to play a real Devil May Cry in HD before the abomination that is DmC comes out. Let me remember what it's like to play quality action titles again *salute*

Wouldn't Burnout Revenge effectively make a potential Burnout 3 obsolete?

DMC 2 never came out.

It is a solemn reminder of how forgetting what makes the series great is always a bad idea

i wonder if any other games can remember such a lesson *rubs chin*

I picked up DMC3:SE a while ago on the cheap and this announcement made me dig it out and play it. Never finished it because I totally burned myself out on the original version. Just made it to Jester. Forgot how much I love that guy. And the weapons! They're so creative in it, as well as the stances. Going back to this reminds me why it's my favourite action game ever, the only thing that has a comparable atmosphere is Bayonetta.

Wouldn't it be awesome if this OUTSELLS DmC?

Haha, I'd laugh so hard. I doubt that'd happen for obvious reasons though, probably wouldn't get one quarter of the same marketing push.

If Team Ico Collection can do 92k in five days with zero advertising, the sky's the limit for DMC!

Not to bring up a whole thing, but I still don't get why Capcom went with Ninja Theory for DmC. Like was there a big backlash to DMC4?

Because if they think we hated it, we might need to clarify. I certainly didn't think it was a bad game at all, its actually great, I just wished they had finished it.

I dunno. Sold great, got good reviews, had an amazing critically acclaimed battle system. Problem was the repetitious second half. If they didn't have all that retreading old ground shit in DMC4, it'd be one of the best in the whole series period. As it is, it's still great.

I certainly didn't think "man if only this had a more somber storyline" or "man, how I miss a shitty framerate" or things like that.

*shrug*

At least we're getting this. They're still ripe for replaying since I haven't had a working PS2 in a while and I'd love to play these again.

They wanted to sell more than double the units DMC4 did, so they went with a dev that has several multi-million selling hits under their belt.

Oh wait.

DMC4's level design was awful, never mind the backtracking. Parts where you had to do some platforming to get to the other side was really tedious if you missed a jump or grab, because you fell into a pit/room of enemies you had to clear just to retry the platforming section again.

Oh man, I hated DMC4. The story, the level design and the backtracking. :(

I thought the level design was fine for the first half. But yeah the platforming was messy. The thing is, these really shouldn't be platforming games anyway so they should just cut anything that is really related to that or just provide a simple fix for a sequel.

The story itself was fine, in that like all games it's terrible fluff. DMC's story main appeal is in its over-the-top nature. That's what DMC is. DMC4 had that, so it didn't fail as far as I am concerned.

But what I need is that amazing battle system at the high framerate, and that is what delivered.

I just hope NT wasn't their first choice. Like if they came out and said "hey, we called up Platinum and they wanted nothing to do with us", I would feel a little better.
