For me personally 120 fps is THE game changer for these new gen consoles as I feel a dramatic difference when playing over 60fps.

In shooters and racers I will pick 1080p 120fps every single time but I do know some gamers that sit down and I show them 120 fps and they say they can't tell the difference between 120 and 60 so it is for each ones personal preference
Fair enough. I think if I was that way inclined I would likely be gaming on a PC, where there is more flexibility with the visuals. Also, I don’t think VRR compatibility excuses devs of not hitting expected FPS - they should just improve the scaling to hit the targets.

the 120fps mode is not 1080p it's 1512p... that's what you're missing, and 120hz oin a shooter is way better than 60
I’m just going off the table provided where it shows 1080 in 120 FPS mode. I apologise if I missed the 1512p aspect, but that certainly is not clear from that table.

It's between 2730x1536 and 1365x1536 (which is roughly the same amount of pixels as 1080p).
If you mean this:

That's just the captured videos resolution not the games.

I play most of my shooters on consoles mainly because the amount of cheaters on PC is just staggering.

I know more and more cheats are popping up on consoles as was evident with the amount of hacker videos that popped up during the first COD Vanguard PS only beta

On PC there are already sites selling cheats for BF2042 guaranteed to work day 1

I can never understand cheating - I mean where is the fun in that?

I'm not trying to be dramatic, but this game looks surprisingly bad, like generations behind. That overhead shot of the jungle level where you can see the water looks like an early PS3 game. WHAT THE HECK.

At this point I'm convinced that the parody accounts are the one that are piling up on riky. Vrr is life, all of you will dance a different tune once Sony stops holding the feature hostage.
I love my PS5 and have displays that use VRR so this is no shot at anyone but I can guarantee once Sony gets VRR then it becomes important for the same base of people downplaying it right now

As I still wait for it on my 900H as well

Couldnt agree with you more it was ugly

If the game releases in that state on xsx you all should boycott it. That much tearing shouldn't be tolerated regardless of platform choice.

Should have seen it when it first released it was hard locking consoles left and right, was straight up broken

I can't get over how bad this water looks. (and everything else). if someone told me this is an early PS3 game, I would believe it.

MP on CoD always looked subpar focusing in the player and framerate.
SP is always where they do focus in presentation.

There are infamous pics from Ghosts and Advance Warfare MP that looks worst than PS2 games.

If it was an early ps3 game the resolution would be closer to 640p

not saying this looks amazing but it definitley would look worse

Screen tearing is the worst.

The Xbox version of Modern Warfare had terrible screen tearing. It took them MONTHS to fix it (but they eventually did).

This is literally using the same engine, so there's no legitimate reason for the Xbox version to have tearing again especially when the previous game to use this engine had the same problem and they fixed it months after launch.

Good point. Call of Duty World At War. PS3 Launch game. 2006

Even the Wii Version looks pretty good lol

Sledgehammer is NOT a bad studio. CoD WW2 had some very impressive graphics in its single player campaign.

Are these pics from Multiplayer?

Because there is a generational difference in graphics between SP and MP in Call of Duty games... so comparing campaign with MP is really not accurate.

False you can improve resolution then.
You could if it held up at 1080p (the PS5 could go higher to match the torn frames of the series x).

To be clear, I'm trolling here, with that level of tearing VRR doesn't matter... However they should have dropped the 120fps mode from the series S, forget 120fps on this console, unless you made a very simple game.

Wait so you would be mad if the game looked good? Wtf kinda weird.

Well yeah, if it was a good game and looked like the developer actually tried I would expect the xbox wide approach to offer higher resolutions and ps5 approach to offer a slightly more stable framerate.

This game just looks like shit so I just don't have any care about it really.

If you have VRR capable tv then go with Xbox. If you don't then the better performing one is playstation. Should work well at 60 fps for all, but a few torn frames on Xbox.

Maybe the cheaters should help Dice get to day 1.

Such a dreary looking game 🙁. Hoping for some better looking maps than this.

Just replaying the Cold War campaign, and it’s a bit rubbish and doesn’t hold up well to a repeat play. Blitzed through it in 3 uneventful hours. It’ll be hard for the Vanguard campaign to be any worse.

If you play at 120hz the Xbox series X is the clear loser without VRR.
Sure, but the difference without VRR is nothing. The stats are close enough that no one would be able to see a difference between the 2 without VRR. Frame rates are nigh on identical, and the tearing figure isn’t massive for that frame rate.

Without VRR the PS5 wins, but by an irrelevant margin since performance is so close. With VRR, it’s a much bigger win for Xbox because that tearing is gone and the frame rate will be smoother.

I’d class it as a win for Xbox if it could beat the PS5 without VRR. I’m not trying to troll here, but once PS5 gets VRR support, the stats without it will stand out like a sore thumb. I’m just genuinely surprised that the Series X isn’t destroying the PS5 in general performance.

This is clearly a Developer/publisher issue. COD has always performed better on the console that has the marketing deal. Many games look better while also performing better and doing much more behind the scenes.

Almost every other game releasing recently has got rid of these performance issues on the Xbox that popped up with launch games. As great as VRR is, and it is a legit game changer for gaming, it can be used as a crutch to just paper over performance issues because that’s what it does in a way. Should you spend hundreds of man hours trying to eliminate 1% screen tearing at 120fps or just…..not….. because most people playing at 120hz have VRR so that tearing is literally a non issue?

Xbox SeX is so potent, a shame that it needs viagra.

But seriously, SeXists needs to decide, is it really more powerful and can achieve higher FPS or not? Using the VRR card would make sense if the resolutions were also higher, but plenty of times like in this one it's not.
Yes, it's a benefit, but most player don't have a compatible TV and in this case the lack of VRR but with higher FPS on the PS5 benefits more users.
