Diablo 3 Release Date: May 15 [Orders & pre-loading up today]

So how playable is this going to be solo? I was never a Diablo guy and I've put maybe 30 minutes into 2 which was years ago so I don't even remember.

I know you can play alone but can you do everything alone?
The entire game can be beaten by a single player. It probably gets kind of hairy for a single player on the harder difficulty levels.

So I haven't heard anything, but is there going to be any kind of clan or guild support? Would be nice to have an easy way to see all of my friends online and have a global chat channel for all of us.

I know this isn't a true MMO, but something along the lines of WoW's guild system would be awesome.

Thanks. This is great news for me.

FYI, it still requires you to be online for single player. Just in case you were asking about soloing because you were planning to play without a connection.

I'm not sure how/if the clan system will be implemented. But it has the same sort of messenger from SC2... in that you add your buddies to your friends list and then you can send the messages and (I think maybe) create chat rooms.

Solo is the only way to play Diablo! never share that loot!

I dunno if you know about this but all the loot that drops is specifically for you in Diablo 3 :)

I honestly do not see a scenario when Diablo III releases and then I go and..play Torchlight 2 just for fun. Nope.

This is what I was getting at. I wasn't saying there should only be one, just that for me, I will only play one of these types of games at a time and Diablo III, for me at least, is the obvious choice.

I know. Still solo is the only way to go in any aRPG.
lol... Ok that's cool and all. But I'm pretty sure most people recognize Diablo as THE game to play coop.

Posted this by mistake in the beta thread:

Is the Battletag the same as the one used in SC2? If not, can I lock in my Battletag now without the beta?

Yeah I knew about that. It's not a big deal I'm almost always online anyway barring some big storm knocking my internet out. I just don't like playing with people if I can avoid it.

"The fire from the sky still falls. Diablo III has not yet launched."

Goddammit Blizzard, can't you at least let me install it?
You should have no advantages for buying the digital version!

Am I wrong for loving the aspect of the mad dash for the unique drop? I remember some bamf chest piece dropped once in a cow run, went to pick it up, "I'm overburdened", some guy runs up and steals it, hahaha.

I guess they did not want that to happen if there's a rare/unique drop considering that now you have the option to sell it on the AH. :p

He was not saying that he wishes that Torchlight 2 never existed.
The moment Diablo III releases though, if you love it, you pretty much might want to invest in that as it can even pay off in real money.

I honestly do not see a scenario when Diablo III releases and then I go and..play Torchlight 2 just for fun. Nope. Not until:

1) I have beaten Inferno with at least one characters
2) I have beaten the game on at least Nightmare with ALL classes
3) I get to explore what the endgame means and start on running around just for fun, experimenting with builds...

And do not even mention those rank 14 gems..do not even mention.

And this means that considering a normal day with a few hours of free time, D3 might give people enough content to explore for at least 4-5 months, easily. No point in buying any other ARPG during that period.

I would, however, still buy Torchlight 2 day one if it comes out no later than..end of april. That is a solid two+ weeks of fun.

Most people playing Diablo III aren't going to do this. I know I won't. I have plans to do something similar, but, I know I will probably put a hundred or so hours into and then want a break. Then, I will probably not have the stamina to put several hundred hours more.

So, I still plan to buy Torchlight 2 just to keep things interesting.

I don't see why they can't co-exist. I guess we won't know until we know just how many hardcore diablo III players there will be (by hardcore, I mean players who will basically only spend their time playing diablo III).

They can coexist. But for those of us with limited time and/or money and faced with the choice, we're going to pick Diablo 3.

Even for those who play both games, chances are they'd spend more time with D3.

And do not even mention those rank 14 gems..do not even mention.

Hate to break it to you buddy... sniff.

EDIT: v - D3 is a must. D3 + T2 > D3.

The moment we got a release date for D3 was the exact moment I lost my reason to play Torchlight 2. Shame, because I was kind of looking forward it.

I wouldn't go that far because I LOVED Torchlight and at the end of the day, it is still a good game.

BUT, Torchlight II's Day 1 Status is in jeopardy depending on when it is released. I'll still buy it no doubt, but it may wait for a Steam Sale now

I'm still excited for Torchlight 2, I just wish we would start hearing more about it. It feels like It's completely fallen off the map in terms of media, or news, or anything. :(

I guess it is a bit blasphemous to say it, but it's nice to see that TL2 has some vibrant colours :) Diablo 3 will rule, but it's always so dark and dreary :p

Been watching some videos on youtube.

Man, the Wizard's Blizzard skill looks utterly terrible. What are the chances they're going to fix it. Even Meteor looks slightly underwhelming.

Yes. It gets frustrating in laggy games because you get almost no good loot at all because of your lag, especially during boss runs when everyone is already crowded around the boss where the loot is going to drop.

IIRC the Pc version of Max Payne will launch june. At least two weeks of D3 before shooting people in the face. :p

Good to know. Tried to upgrade my Standard Edition pre-order at GameStop today and it was a no go. CRAP! Just a heads up to anyone looking to go that route. Oh well, still getting Diablo III!!!!

Can you just cancel it and preorder through amazon or something?

It's actually anecdotes like that that make me very happy everyone gets their own loot in D3.

I just checked and these three still have them available. Amazon's out and they might have some more before release, but I wouldn't count on it.
Yeah looked at Amazon's listing, seems they are out. There is a couple there already marked up by people taking advantage of the demand. 340 and 380 dollars, sheesh.

I thought the same thing when I first saw that skill.
Look like it was raining blueberry slushy everywhere haha.
