Diablo IV |OT| Blessed Mother... Save Us

Hmmmm…
Wasn't the paladin early access a bonus for those that bought the expansion early?
I have a level 55 paladin character in my roster, but I don't see the expansion pack in my owned items, just the spirit walker one.

Yeah you have access to the paladin and warlock only if you have the new xpac

wtf, how in the hell do I have a lvl 55 paladin in my roster yet I didn't purchase the dlc?
I honestly don't remember if I did or not, it isn't showing up in the manage game tab like the spirit caller one.
Was there a freebie weekend or somethin?

It's no sorc, but Warlock is pretty sick. Seems like there's quite a few builds you can conjure up
It's wild. I went full shadow. Then you unlock a giant demon sand worm as an extra skill with the warlock gem thing they can do. I had to unbind one skill to use it.

Then you can alter it seems most skills to change from one element to another in the 30s unlocks. Mind is swimming with possibilities because you can take the best fire moves to make them different elements.

They nailed this by making it still easy to understand like prior diablos but giving enough variance so it isn't just one way to do things or one build trumps everything.

Really good overhauls

Now that you say that, I do remember a trial for it.

However it was capped to level 25 so idk how you got to 55. Idk bro haha

Yeah, the warlock is fun. I'm playing a mostly fire build right now but I keep changing other skills in and out to just mess around with everything and the class is a lot of fun.

Really makes me anxious to play all the other classes to see how they've changed with these new skill trees.

Fishing is even entertaining, but then I generally like fishing minigames in most games. No Man's Sky has a really good one. D4 seems to have a lot you can find while fishing which makes it interesting.

You also need to buy the expansions per platform.

So if you have battlenet steam PlayStation and Xbo versions of the game you need to buy the expansion in all four platforms to access that content.

Maybe you got on battle net or something?

I'm a big fan of the new skill trees. Takes a bit to adjust to them though, like it feels weird that I'm actually putting points into boosting main skills now because there's often nowhere else to put points what with no more passives to sink them into. The main skills all go up to 15 points but each main skill has a bunch of single point modifiers around them, of which you can only select a couple because they are either/or choices. Just seems so much better overall, so much nicer to level and experiment with.

It seems pretty strong so far. The hellfire ultimate thing where the cooldown gets removed and you instead spend stacks to cast it is wild because you can then spam it if you use the right generator skills.

My only gripe with Warlock so far is that the character models for the girls are not very aesthetically pleasing. Even the methadone Necromancer girl model was still cool looking in an emaciated, zombified, sort of way.

Playing warlock. It's good. :)

Blizzard could have taken some time to update PS5 Pro support to PSSR and remove the fps cap on the RT graphics mode and/or cutscenes. FSR issues are very clear on cutscenes.

yeah, par for the course for this game though. i get like barb/druid/amazon(if it comes) but even the sorc girls are a bit too manly. after i saw the girls, i went for the male. then my dude looks kinda feminine with long hair lmao. cant win i guess. idk. it is modern blizzard though, it can always be much much worse.

The tiny ass tits of the necro girls is a pain point. Why can't I play as my dream big tiddy goth girl?

That is hilirious...exactrly the same thing I thought when I was going through all the hair types. My character just looks extremely effeminate (male model) and REALLY hungry.

I do like the fact that your character walks like the demon summoner enemies from D3. When you have the pointy hood on you look just like a cultist from westmarsh.

Right now I am trying to push through the story content so i can unlock all the mechanics, then I will spend time effing with builds for end game.

I am using the Purple (shadow) one right now. Lash-something? Cannot remember the exact name.

Not by default but you can set one in the settings
Yeah just binded it to R3 thanks. Started a warlock with the first expansion since i missed that one too. Just finished the first quest, really enjoying this. I have 1 annoying sound bug tho. In some cutscenes the SFX are delayed by like 2 seconds. The VA is in sync, but the sfx are not. Pretty annoying. Any idea why its like this?

lol just googled it. It happens when you unlock the fps in cutscenes. They still havent fixed this since launch?? :D Dont tell me i have to lock it to 30 :(

Haven't had any issues with audio desycning on my end, even with the cutscene FPS unlocked.

Edit: No crashes either. Just three disconnects yesterday around launch.

So far the story has been great. Tons of throwbacks (weird....who knew memberberries would be popular /s) so far and the story has been very good. Avoiding spoiler stuff but looking forward to talking about it in a week or so once folks have had time to finish.

Saw a few of you online. Ive been taking my time with this. Really reading and watching the story beats.

Haven't even looked up a build guide yet. Went all in on Judicator and Holy damage to start with on my pally

I'm not looking at guides at all either, instead I'm just experimenting with everything like a new game and its been a ton of fun so far. Probably not very efficient but screw that, its been fun! 😁

What difficulty is everyone playing on? I was on Pentiment, and I kept getting my ass handed to me, so I knocked it down a level. My build isn't "optimised", I suppose.

Usually go from 0 to level cap on hard. Offers a bit more xp than normal so it feels a little faster (probably in my head).

I did dip into penitent so I could unlock the third season tier to make some seasonal progress but that was wasted effort.

I think I'm close to finishing out the story content and I'm on hard difficulty.

Also….

I ultimately settled on expert for the campaign. I was on penitent for a bit and although the damage was fine, survivability was not lol.

It is slower
A lot slower.

After level 70 sure go for it..

Also the game is a lot better compared to launch.

Not like launch d3 vs final d3
But the loot is way less fucking boring.
Also set items

I just finished the LoH campaign at level 51 on my warlock. Man I really enjoyed the story in this one! In fact out of the three campaign chapters now, I think the LoH campaign is my favorite one. It just feels so much better written than the story for VoH was, feels like a night and day difference to me.

Now to level up to 70 and see how the endgame has changed. I just unlocked the warplans and the cube, have to play around with them both to see how they work...

I already appreciate all the path navigation options they've added.

Also, I don't remember for sure but was an instant-mount always there day 1? It's definitely making moving around a lot more faster in the overworld.

I'm a basic bitch so playing as a Vanilla Barbarian class and everything feels a lot more snappier than what I remember, playing more closer to how a faster paced Diablo 3 was compared to D4 at launch.

edit: also when the fuck did they add ray tracing to the console version .. huh .. granted I'm not gonna sacrifice 60fps for it but still good to see that they've added so much shit to the game since release.

A lot of that QOL stuff (mount availability, animation adjustments, and skill refinements) has been added over the last few years. It was always "two steps forward two steps back" in terms of what they were adding. The dev teams feels like they are in a much stronger/unified place now that Ferguson has moved on and they have generally made really good improvements to the overall game.

Fleshing out content for end game, removing lots of dungeon restrictions, and make the builds a lot more user friendly has gone a long way with me at least.

It also doesn't hurt they brought over a lot of game systems/content from D3 which has really sucked me back into D4, but this is 100% a personal opinion thing and some folks may think its not hardcore enough now.

I hope you enjoy your time with it (also I think the game looks better on the Xbox than PlayStation..colors feel much better/less washed out and I swear the base rez is just higher/better, I play on Xbox when I am not on PC)!
