"but a Killzone-style frame-rate limiting option would be welcome"
Please.
I truly absolutely cannot fathom why developers are going for this "above 30 is gravy" mentality. Its just not true. Solid 30 is better then fluctuating above it, studder is the destroyer of worlds. 60 is amazing, but if you can't hit it, then just quit it, stay where you belong, 30. I see a lot of nonsense in life, and I can usually understand where it comes from, but this... I just don't get it. What are the pro's to this? Saying in an interveiw "its above 30fps."? Thats all I can think of.
This is why I continue to see PC as the best platform for myself. If developers wont do it, then at least on PC I can flippin do it myself. Shoot for 60, but if I can't do that then I lock at 30. Its simple, no nonsense, just perfect sense, games run best when consistent. Everything between is not gravy. Figure that out devs. Or if not for the whole game, at least make it an option I can toggle. Then everyones happy, people who like consistent framerates, and people who make games. (snap)
