This is exactly what I tried, and failed to say on the last page.KTallguy said:The world in Versus is fucking amazing. It's truly 'fantasy based on reality'.
The architecture, world, atmosphere, everything exudes sophistication.
The dark music in the trailer, the scenes with the roundtable of mafia-esque men... I'm honestly really happy something so mature is being made.

I figured it out within 5 seconds but I don't see why it should be a bannable offense...I mean...these are the first famitsu links I've clicked on in over two years...not every gamer shares the same interest as you and, truth be told, there aren't that many high profile japanese games that make themselves as unavailable to the western press. Also, there are a shitload of gamers that, since E3, are now effectively looking into FFXIII for the first time.My Arms Your Hearse said:FAMITSU YOU IDIOTS. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Here's the one I saw I think.
It wasn't actually a Roen shop, it was just some Roen clothing in a boutique store in Kensington.
Error said:LMAO. who the fuck dresses like that?
I'm still trying to figure how is ROEN designed suits is good news for Versus. Honestly, of all 3 of FNC projects, Versus is the least appealing to me. Nevermind the Sasuke rip off in a suit, but the whole mafia shit with backstreet boys looking dudes is seriously unappealing, it's like trying its hardest to look cool and edgy while failing massively. The fact that the KH team is working on it, is even more lolz since they can't make a good game even if it was to save their lives. I wonder how fun an arpg by this team without all the disney shit would be, I WANT TO BE SURPRISED.
Agito is the best FNC project so far IMO, actual GAMEPLAY shots. INFRACSTRUCTURE. Interesting worldview, and the gameplay sounds appealing to me.
I'm not sure, it looks like it, but there's no mention of it on the website.Shadow780 said:hmmm...is this THE Versus suit, or just a ROEN suit in general?

Autumn Thread said:From what I've read Nomura has stated he wants a closer tie to more natural clothing in Versus so he started working on collaborations with Hiromu Takahara, the creative director of Roen. He also stated that the Prince is intended to be one of the 'pretty' people in the world, someone who would frequent at high-class clubs etc.

Fix The Scientist said:Forget Agito, even forget Versus.. the talent at Square is being spread too thin, they are releasing heaps of mediocre games. Concentrate on releasing a proper Final Fantasy every 2-3 years you a-holes.
It's been 2 and a half years since that real time footage of XIII was shown, what the fuck is going on? All we've seen since then are bullshit snippets of FMV. It really gets to me guys.
Development for PS3 didn't start before at least Spring or Summer 2005, though. But few details are known about how they switch from PS2 to PS3, and if the game design/art was drastically altered or not. As for Versus, if I remember correctly, it seems development didn't start until the PAL version of Kingdom Hearts II was completed (September 2006).stuburns said:It's been in development since 2003, so five years so far, it'll be six before it's out (Versus development cycle will be 7 or maybe even 8 years, crazy)

I would like to have your PS2. Also, with that image compression and that picture resolution, I'd say that could look like a ps2 game too, regardless of the hair, you know, if I was a retard or something.Dark Octave said:Not to be a troll, or negative, but besides the hair, this shot kind of looks like a PS2 game.
good eye! I believe that is. Sera is supposed to be her name or something, right? I remember that drawing from way back that someone made, where the pigtail girl was in that cloaked outfit. Yes, I believe that's her.MrDenny said:![]()

Very true. I mean, in the official public trailer, at the beginning it says "this is a fantasy based on reality," which really shows. In a way, this appeals to that 20-something gamer that grew up with PS1 FF games, and doesn't really care much for Toriyama's whimsy, and instead desires a similar gritty realism that's found in something like Gears, but clearly this is with a very Japanese twist.stuburns said:I really like how the Versus characters are considerably more held back than previous games. But for me the main draw is the world itself, the art direction really is second to nothing.
In the leaked Festa trailer you saw the guy's walking through the slightly Italian looking square, here's an officially released shot from it. The architecture is just stunning, I really want to be in that world.

When I first got into RPGs I could play almost anything, Chrono Trigger for example was my favorite game for a long time. But as I get older I find it much harder to become immersed in games that have too large of a jump from realty (an example would be the frog characters in WKC that make me cringe), so as far as RPGs go, FFVersusXIII is looking to be the exact game I've been wanting for a few years now.
I can see why people wouldn't like Noctis, but I think the other characters look great.
stuburns said:People are complaining about the lack of good JRPGs on consoles, it's because it takes a really long time to make them. No one is letting them bake long enough. SE are willing to, we should be thankful enough not to wine about waiting.
They said planning for the FNC projects began just after X-2 was finished (Jan 03 was gold submission?) and that FFXIII was going to be for PS2, while Nomura was going to make his game for the PS3. It depends what you consider development, but writing, developing the characters and working on the concepts and art direction prior to full blown production of the game elements, in my head at least, count at development time.Zanasea said:Development for PS3 didn't start before at least Spring or Summer 2005, though. Yeah, that's pretty much how I feel. I don't think it's really because of my age, I know a lot of my peers are really big on the very fantastical worlds presented in things like LotR or WoW. I certainly don't see it as any sort of elitism, but my tastes have definitely become more specific, and I find less generally helps with escapism.Darkpen said:Very true. Nomura said the Versus suit is on sale already though, and going thru the website, it's the only one that looks like it. Most of their stuff is insane.
Really? I don't think most people who drop that kind of cash on designer clothing want video game ads on the tag.Shadow780 said:Well if I were to spent a grand or more USD on it, I'm hoping for some kind of certification or tag indicates that the suit is THE official Versus suit.....:lol

Pretty much. Its like, why would I want some kind of stinking logo on my clothing to begin with? That's some fucked up consumerism brainwashing speaking right there.stuburns said:Really? I don't think most people who drop that kind of cash on designer clothing want video game ads on the tag.

Yeah that's be nice, if it came in a box with the Versus logo embedded or something. I guess it's being treated primarily as designer clothing, as appose to game merchandise. I would never spend that kind of cash on a game tie-in suit, but I would spend it on a suit I wanted. But I have no doubt people would buy this just because Noctis wears it. You'd certainly be the most classy cosplayer at any event.Shadow780 said:Not having a visible tag on the suit, no. I think the whole set looks really nice, something I could wear to a formal party and stuff.

Jesus. Personally, I'd never wear this to a smelly and sweaty cosplay event, but then again, its not like hardcore cosplayers don't spend thousands on their own outfits either.stuburns said:Yeah that's be nice, if it came in a box with the Versus logo embedded or something. stuburns said:Another draw for me is the Action RPG thing, I still really like turn based RPGs but I want to see the genre progress, and I just see this game, of all that's currently announced, to be the one that has the biggest chance of being that game.

It could be interpreted in the manner in which it was intended to be read.Aeana said:This says, to me, that you think turn-based combat is old hat and/or stale (key words: "still enjoy") and that you think action RPGs are progressing the genre.
I'm not quite sure how else that could be interpreted.

Backstreets back, alright!
Sometimes, its really frustrating to be on GAF, surrounded by people who are only able to relate concepts of looking clean and stylish with either being a girl, or gay. Its like, seriously? Really? There's such an incredible disconnect between people who clearly grew up with only American media, and those who've expanded their horizons and understand the aesthetic value of youthful metrosexual men in east asian pop culture.stuburns said:![]()

Your implication was that I said that Action RPGs are progressive, I didn't say that at all. I said that I hope that Versus XIII will be progressive.
