Do You Eat The Muffin/Cupcake Liners?

Last week during Thanksgiving I was at a family event where someone had made cupcakes. I grabbed one and as usual pulled the liner out and ate it before touching the cupcake, to the apparent horror of the person standing next to me. I've always done so, as I enjoy the mixture of the thin paper and sweet bread. The person next to me as mentioned however found this pretty gross. Had never really thought of it prior to this point so where do you lie on the matter?

Hey guys, do you eat your napkin when you are done with a meal? I have always enjoyed the texture of the residual food slop and the fibrous napkin. Some people look at me like I'm crazy though? What gives.
 
You disgust me Rico. No Rico, no. My god, what unearthly abuse do you perform upon unsuspecting Reeses cups?

Alternatively;
"Guys, do you just swallow your fork after your done with a meal? The combination of my half-digested food, indigestible metal and searing pain is so enjoyable tome."

All paper is thin, though. You don't go around eating other paper do you?

Actually, once by mistake I ate a piece of paper that that was wrapped around some cake. I quickly realized my mistake and felt like a disgusting pig. Can't believe why anyone would do it on purpose.

Other paper doesn't have cupcake melded to it :P Totally thought this was a common thing, I feel really weird now. Lol.
 
Honey boo boo chil', those things are made from parchment paper that I'm not sure is treated or not. I don't think you should be eating those.
 
Umm, no. I admit to sucking/chewing on the liner to get off the bit's of stuck on cake but I don't actually eat the liner itself.
 
I first learned about this 4 years ago. I am usually open to eat anything but I don't trust the chemicals in the paper.
 
But seriously, I knew this kid. You know, the one from elementary school, who would eat a Tootsie Roll without taking off the wrapper, who ate the appleseeds, who swallowed his gum, who wouldn't bother tearing all the bits of paper off the Hostess fruit pie, who allowed the milk mustache to form, who permitted his nose to run until it was on his upper lip then would lick it.

You disgust me, that kid.

Heh, I'm actually a very clean person. I think I can say this is the one odd, food esqe thing I do. I mean it's basically the sweet bread with texture.
 
I once swallowed a candy wrapped when I was young because I couldn't be bothered to go to the bin. Seriously, I have no idea how I did that and no memory of how I shat it out.
 
People understand that the cake sticks to the paper right? It's not like taking a piece of notebook paper and eating it. It's good!

Although I think it's fair to say that this is in fact not at all common which was the original question asked in the OP.

It's certainly not digestible--the body can't digest cellulose--and heaven knows whatever chemicals they use to keep the paper from combusting are in your bloodstream. Let alone the dyes. I, mean, you might seriously want to consider not continuing to eat the cupcake liner.
 
I don't make a habit of it but I've done it before, chewed it like it was a piece of gum and then spat it out. Tasted alright.
