No. Unless I find the Avatar offensive or related to something I find offensive. So, rarely if ever. I care more about what's being said in the post.
Also :lol at the people literally not reading posts by people with anime avatars. Seems kinda childish to me. I bet those people are skipping my post, even though my avatar is really a VG character.

This avatar:, as an example. I don't know anything about the poster and for all I know he/she is a good, decent human being. But it hurts my eyes a bit when I focus on it and kind of pisses me off. It's just a fucking picture, but any time I see them posting I'm automatically predisposed to read whatever they post in a negative light.

I don't judge people by their avatar. I may hold an opinion on individual posts from people based on the content. That is all.

Literally a handful of mine were from anime (about 3/570) except for the 6 or so I just made when I realized I could hook up my dvd player to my capture card and grab some from my Gun Smith Cats/other dvds.

As has been iterated by others I tend to associate the images with posters. So if I read something in a thread that I found distasteful it will be associated with that avatar.
In regards to the anime thing I don't dislike it by any means, but they tend to seem uninspired/generic and are so very easily forgotten. Every time I say "it would be awesome to make a cool NGE avatar" 5 minutes later I realize it isnt awesome. So judgments passed? Yes, but in a broad sense of "oh Im not going to remember this poster based on his/her avatar"

Well i identify people primarily by their avatar, so when i'm scrolling down a page and see the avatar of a poster i like or a poster i'm not so fond of, i'm going to react differently. As for snap judgments, i will make little judgments based off them, sure, it is hard not to sometimes, but the vast majority is in the actual text.

On the contrary, after seeing so many of those avatars I finally found out the name of the show, watched some episodes online, and will now watch the show on TV every week.vatstep said:

Yes. All the time. Sometimes a face has a particular expression that makes me want to punch it, but I especially can't take anyone with the following avatar issues seriously:
Avatar memes, especially those for games that came out a year or two ago - Why do I still see so many Killzone eyes, MGS4 eyepatches and mustaches, and GTA4 avatars? The GTA4 ones are especially bad, because they fall under the next category.
Shitty or distracting animations - Some movement isn't inherently bad, but most people seem to really suck at implementing it. Too much movement is distracting. An abrupt loop point is distracting. Flashing colors are distracting. An excessively slow framerate is distracting. I mean holy shit, use some fucking judgment.
Avatars that aren't 90 pixels wide - GAF's scaling algorithm for images larger or smaller than 90 pixels wide is absolutely horrible. It takes like ten seconds to scale it to the right size. It's not hard. Why would you settle for a blurry or pixelated mess when you could scale it properly and have it look nice?

Personaly i don't care too much for avatars. Ther's only two types of users that i find harder to take serious based on their avatars:
Anime avatars: tells me subconsciously that you are still infantile even if you are a grown up man.
and
Guys with hot chicks as their avatar, even worse if it's their girlfriend: tells me subconsciously that you are a douchebag (the Alison Brie avatars i don't count because i know what its about)

Good lord, I don't quite understand this animosity that being shown to people who like Anime,Manga, Comic or some other shit.. I personally don't pay much attention to people's avatars except when I read their post and find myself agreeing/disagreeing with 'em one way or another.
