Do you still buy regular fit jeans?

Ok.

I just looked that up, and that pretty much hits the point right between hideous and hilarious.

How do people run around like that and actually think they look good...
But think about it this way.

You still wear Levis 501's.

do they even still have a section for that anymore in retail stores?

A lot of people saying their athletic frames fit best in skinny jeans... most fit athletic people I know could never wear them. Too much muscle mass in the hips and thighs

Truth, and that's even more true if you're under 6 feet, because you also already suffer from height-to-waist massive mismatch (M has got a highschooler waist and reasonable length, L has got a normally fit adult waist but it's tailored around 6+ feet tall people). No way I could ever buy perfectly fit jeans, because my pelvic crest is blatantly a 46/12/L, unless I became a skeleton I wouldn't be able to go any lower, so I just settle for L and I rubber band cuff them to avoid having them go baggy at the bottom.

I usually wear slim but have a few pairs of regular, lately I've only been wearing regular lately because I've gained weight and my slims don't fit any more and I have quite a few regular jeans from my fatter days. Don't wanna buy new slims because I'm trying to motivate my self to trim back down rather than buy new jeans and get comfortable being a few kilos heavier. Regular fit is so boring.

I have this slim fit stretch jeans in black that was the most comfortable thing to wear, I could sleep in them and I want to be able to wear it again :(. When I trim down I'm getting more of that style, stretch jeans are the best.

Also I've never had a pair of Levi's and I have no idea what these 3 digit codes mean...

I'm a skinny guy so I stick with slim-fit jeans. They're the boxer-briefs of jeans - not too baggy, and not too tight.

This is usually the kind of look I aim for, although with slightly less "slack" in the ankles:

As a fat guy getting slimmer this is roughly the kind of fit I ended up with when eyeballing an online purchase lately. First day I wasn't feeling it, but I'm coming around. Part of it is that I've been wearing jeans two sizes too big for a few months now though.

SIzing down by one or two sizes with 501 shrink to fits produces a nice, slim silhouette. Don't talk shit if you've never tried them.

It's the type of cut/style. Like 511s are skinny I think?

And buying Levi's online, just don't bother. They're wildly inconsistent with their cuts and how they fit. Two 33s might not fit the same.

I haven't owned a pair of Levi's in like 20 years. Been meaning to buy a pair but there are so many other options.

I think I had a pair about 10 years ago.

Still, trying to size down seems like more of a hassle than just buying the more modern tapered/slim fits in 508s or 511s in your actual size.

skinny is the fucking worst.
Somehow all of my pants are skinny, and it's disheartening the only pair I have that is normal is also ripped in the knees.

Regular cut is comfortable and looks good.

Skinny is uncomfortable, and looks dumb on boys (almost always) and it's difficult to find a shirt that looks good with them.

As a 6'4" with a long torso regular dude I try to go for the middle. It's tough finding good 32x34 that fit everything. A lot or jeans fit everywhere but my claves which feel like I'm running them through a FoodSaver. I try to buy nice cuts, but my favorite jeans right now are Luckys from Costco I bought just because I was stuck upstate for an extra a day.

jeans

IN 2016
Uh yeah, they're certainly better than fucking joggers and I got sick of being dad-core with chinos all the time.

I also don't have money coming out of eyes either so I can't join fashion-gaf and buy $300 leather pants or whatever they're wearing today lol

You can get jeans tailored. It isn't expensive at all. I'm not trying to convince you to go towards the skinny fad or anything, but you don't need to rubber band then so they stick to your legs.

Who knew GAF would be so divided over jeans, of all things? There's a lot of insecurity in this thread. It feels like some of the people in here are afraid that if they expend a tiny ounce of effort towards their appearance that it will somehow diminish their masculinity.

Yeah it costs like 10 bucks to get pants tailored near me. Used it for all of my chinos and don't regret it.

As more fitted clothing becomes more mainstream, every time I clothes shop and try regular fit jeans, they just feel so baggy.

I know online there's this irrational hate of skinny fits, but a reasonable skinny for men shouldn't be tight as women's styles. I have athletic thighs so I do slim fits. But have tried some skinny styles that looked fine and no I didn't look like I was wearing spandex lol.

Regular fit jeans are never gonna die out, but personally they don't just fit my style anymore.

What about you?
I have gigantic tree trunk legs. This skinny trend is the worst for me.

I go for an athletic fit/relaxed every time. All other jeans are skinny when you have big thighs and bum. 501s/505s fit okay, but I'm not in love with them.

On top of that, I need to buy 34x30s and get them adjusted to 34x28. I'm the shortest guy I know. :(

Slim fit for jeans. Joggers when possible. And also slim fit size for my suits. Feels good to have clothes that feel like they actually fit on my body than sag and look baggy.

I like a slightly loose jean. I also have stronk as fuck thighs so anything skinny would never work. It'd make me look like i have Wind Waker legs.

My actual favorite jeans are cargo jeans, but my current employer doesn't allow them so I haven't bought any new ones. I actually use the goddamn pockets, too.

Slightly loose blue jeans for rough work and casual events.

And I like a nice suit with suitpants for formal events.

Still? I finally stopped buying baggy

Oof, I actually like joggers but that is not a good looking pair. Waaay too much contrast between colors and materials for my taste.

Something like this looks better IMO

Anyway, as far as jeans, regular fit just seems wrong nowadays. Plenty of great fitting slim jeans out there, you just need to find the brand that has the best fit for you.

Bonobos tailored are my goto "pricier" pair that accentuates my butt best, though I wait for sales :3

What the heck are these about? I feel like all three examples would look way better as normal pants than having elastic cuffs for seemingly no reason. Is there an origin story behind these things?

Notice how you can see their shoes? That's really it. As someone with a small footwear collection and about four pairs of jogger type pants, I feel like they were made for me.
