Do you still buy regular fit jeans?

I was a big fan of slim/stretch fits, until I found Bonobos athletic fits.

I have some athletic stretch chinos and athletic dress pants and they fit amazing.

They are basically slim fit with more room for your thighs and butt.

Quite annoying as I've got about 4-5 pairs of regular fit 501's, then discovered 511's so never wear the 501's anymore.

Hell no. The one on the left/top looks like he is walking on stilts and wearing brown clown shoes. The one on the right/bottom is FAR more appealing to look at. Skinny jeans (or anything close to them like slim fit) look appalling on anyone, male or femle. I'm not saying wear Jnco stovepipes, but a relaxed fit with a boot cut is the best look for a pair of jeans on a man, and for women's jeans I prefer well fitted but not skin tight up top and flare or boot cut for the calf.

Out of touch? Lol, because I don't flock to every latest fashion trend like the hoards of brainwashed consumers around me? I am plenty enough in touch to recognize that most people like, or at least are ok with, form-fitting fashion lately. I personally think it looks like garbage. If I dont like how something looks, I couldn't give a shit less how the public at large views it. And eventually it will fall out of favor, as all fashion trends do, and rather than flocking to the next trend (as I am sure you will since you are so "in touch"), I will continue to like what I like.

If you are so insecure that you are worried about staying "in touch" with fashion, then I feel bad for you.
100 % agreed.

Can we even call slim jeans a trend? I've been buying them for 15 years now...

I think TV and movies are a good example. Most men on them are wearing slim jeans. And it has been that case for the last 15 years as you said.

Regular fit doesn't look great on TV, at least for leading man types.

slim jeans have been around forever, those who say it's a trend are those whose style peaked in the 90s and just won't change anymore.

I feel like someone should insert that quote from the Devil Wears Prada here. All clothes we wear were fashionable at some point, if not they would not have been made as all clothes are made with a certain fashion style in mind.

The fit has been around decades prior as well. So I really don't get the rebuttals of slim fits being trendy or fashionable.

None of these are jeans. However, the fit shown here by the late Steve McQueen, would be classified as slim today.

This was in the 60/70s.

I only wear slim fit jeans. I can't fitt in skinny jeans and I dislike the look of regular jeans. Slim fit is the perfect middle ground.

Theres a middle ground between slim and Skinny. Sometimes refered to as extra slim, X-Fit(Calvin Klein), Super slim. But not all companies do it, but more and more are since its gaining popularity.

Give that a try if you got the figure for it.

I wear skinnies. Not the overly tight sort though.

Regular fit jeans are disgusting. You look shapeless and the way they flap about is extremely uncomfortable.

The rise on slim fit pants are usually too low for me. Even when I'm skinny (have about 15lbs to lose). So I usually stick to "straight" fit or "classic."

I'm not sure why they make the rise on these pants so small.

Banana Republic slim have a more traditional rise than say H&M, Uniqlo, or Topman.

Just don't go full mom/dad jeans

Even the ones with stretchy material? American Eagle Extreme Flex is an awesome brand.

The only ones with stretch material I've tried was some slim fit jeans where I ended up looking like I was a woman wearing leggings. The silhouette wasn't good at all (even with some screwing around with my right and bigger sizes, it was still pretty snug to the legs and butt)

What's insecure about following fashion? Why is that a trait of the brainwashed masses?

I have a pair of super slims and they're awesome. They don't hug the ankles like skinny but they really give shape to your legs and can show muscularity in the quads. Your outline or silhouette ends being more angular.

Another thought, I'm surprised fit dudes tend to dress so slovenly at times due to how clothes fit. With your sculpted physique you could rock tighter jeans and show off your gains in a classy way. Looking fit while clothed. You're doing yourself a disservice with really baggy clothes.

I definitely wear slimmer pants than I did years ago. I like fitted clothing for shirts and pants now especially that I've seen great results from consistent gym time the last few years. Skinny jeans are too much and often give guys a weird upside down pear shape.

Exactly.

Coincidentally I just switched from regular fit to slim fit (513) this week. They're a bit less comfortable but I look a lot better in them, or so my wife says.

You could always get those straight or classic fits tailored so they fit your waist but don't look sloppy.

Lol, why can't people just stay in touch with fashion because they like to look good? And I mean, slim jeans have been a staple for decades so I doubt they're going to fall out of favor anytime soon. It's the extremes that fall in out and fashion, not the staples.

You could not be more wrong.

I'm an athlete. My thighs and calf are thick to the point where regular jeans look like slim fit on me. So yeah, I only buy regular fit jeans.... preferably with a tiny bit of stretch to them :S

LuLu Lemon ABC (literally anti ball crushing) pants are the most comfortable ever. Second only to their underwear.

If you can overcome the brand shame.

The only correct response to this incredibly shallow thread.
Lol, so people who pay attention to the fit of their pants is being shallow now?

There's a difference between shaming people for their pants (which admittedly, I do) and paying attention to what clothes you're buying.
