Do you still care about Halo?

No. Never cared about the story, Destiny's shooting feels just as great and also comes with a great multiplayer. Other games ate Halo's lunch.

That said, Halo's new Warfield (or something) multiplayer looks awesome. Won't make me buy an XBO and Halo 5 though.

I think halo 5 is going to be a really good installment and a lot are going to eat crow for 343 hate or w/e.

But not including local multiplayer is so backwards to me. Basically what sold halo to my friends and I. Honestly don't get the point of having more than one controller on these new consoles.

Honestly, 343i dropped the ball too hard for me with the Master Chief Collection. I hadn't played Halo properly before then, that was my door into the series.... and it was a complete clusterfuck.

I've never played a game as fundamentally broken as that. But it was continually pushed when it should have been recalled from the shelves. Even today it has some fairly major issues.

I played the Halo 5 beta, I even enjoyed it, but at this point I flat out don't trust 343i. The only thing they could do, née, what they arguably should do, is give away Halo 5 to those first week adopters of the Master Chief Collection. I'm not giving 343i 'another go' otherwise, not when it costs me time and money.

If I want a shooter any time soon, I'll probably pick up the Gears Remaster. It's cheap and looks fun.

As for a Halo prediction... Halo 5, Halo Wars 2, Halo 6, fin. I can't see this franchise lasting any longer than that.

Wow this thread seems to attract halo haters like a magnet.

Halo has always been a love/hate thing on gaf. Most of the halo fans retreated away from the gaming section when communities section sprung up years ago because the gaming threads went to complete shit with "Halo is overrated I don't understand how anyone likes it" posts. Then when the Halo communities thread was shut down, many of that those guys just left GAF. I find more people saying they love Sonic games than Halo games here. Which is batshit insane. :)

I feel like the ball was dropped too much with Halo 4, I bought a 360 simply to play it, and had to force myself to finish. Was just.... not good compared to Halo 1-3&Reach. I dont like the direction its going, and I feel like Master Chief is necessary for this game. Centered around 5 players it looks? All doing things way better than MC in the opening cinematic? Just feels... wrong. Not like Halo. 343 is ruining this franchise and its sad to see.

Halo 5 is already better than reach and 4. And yesi do care about halo. I have 600 hours played. Beat the mcc campains numerous times. The multiplayer isnt h2 or h3 level but its getting there.

Am I going crazy or did the thread title change (in such a way that previous answers mean something else)? I thought it was something like "when did you stop caring...?"

Yeah, it changed. I bet someone at MS complained and had the mods change it. Wouldn't be the first time. Won't be the last.

yesi do care about halo

no way

Simple answer is no, it it is weird but after being disappointed in Halo Reach, I never felt the reason to ever jump back in.

I guess I'm weird but I loved ODST. I really liked 4 as well, even though I couldn't stand the harder difficulties. I was on board to play it all again with MCC but I kept putting off buying it until they fixed the issues. Ended up never getting it. I am taking a wait and see approach with Halo 5.

It's not that I don't care, it's just that sometimes people fall out of love.
It's not Halo, it's me.

I haven't cared about it since completing Halo 3.

Haven't touched ODST or anything that followed, and will continue to do so. There's more interesting stuff to play.

I'm exactly in the same situation. Unfortunately for MS this goes for Gears as well. I enjoyed those games when I played them (sp only), but I'm done with them after the completion of their respective trilogies. God of War is a similar case, but I hope that franchise might somehow win me back.

I kind of dropped out of the series after buying a 360 for Halo 3. Not a multiplayer man, and the single player wasn't that interesting. Story was kinda weird and goofy.

I have Halo 4 sitting on my desk though, might fire that up soon.

I went to the midnight launch of Halo 2 and was underwhelmed with the game overall.

There have been some good games since (i enjoyed Halo 3 and Halo: Reach) but nothing groundbreaking. I don't really care for the series anymore but might check it out if i get the opportunity.

Never played a Halo game ever. I've played other FPS and whilst I don't particular like the genre, I'll play one if it appeals but nothing about Halo has ever appealed to me - it is the very definition of genetic.

I never really played Halo, but I feel I would've stopped caring when those "people" from 343i took over back in 2014.
343 took quite soon after Halo Reach released, which was in 2010.

Why exactly are you posting in here? The questions is "Do you still care about Halo?", doesn't really apply to those who've never had an interest.

Yup.

Genetically superior to any other FPS out there.

Yes, but nearly as much. Still one of my favourite game series though.

If MS released a remastered version of Reach, I'd finally buy an xone. Reach had the most impactful story IMO. Probably the only games that I've played the over again more than 4 times (not including NES era). 99% of my games don't get played over even once.

In fact, I think MS went in the wrong direction with creating a new war. Humanity's seemingly futile struggle against the covenant was what I found interesting about the Halo series.

Every enemy had personality whereas most foreunners are essentially robots. And now they have to force a new conflict with everyone.

Now that the thread title has changed, I shall respond.

Anyone who played the beta and somehow since have lost interest in the game...don't. It is so goddamn good!

I can understand if some have lost interest progressively per title as that happens, but goddamn this game is going to be amazing.

Me and my elite bundle will enjoy it very much...as will the temporary console I play at launch with.

They hyperbole in this thread is astonishing.

See you later folks, I'm out.

Is that hyperbole? I'd probably have an opinion along the same lines. I'd honestly take a stupid, linear, scripted, dumb-fun CoD campaign over the incoherent mess that was Halo 4's which didn't really know what it wanted to be and just ended up being a snooze.

It also doesn't help that back then, given what we knew of both the campaign and multiplayer, I had actually written MP off. All the changes they made sounded horrible but I was still hyped and believed in the campaign.

To say that my expectations weren't met at the time would be an understatement. But the campaign, even without those expectations, is mediocre. Couldn't even get past the first few levels in MCC.

Played from Halo CE through Halo 4.

Dropped off that bandwagon once I realized I hated almost every decision 343 have made to the series. It was my go-to MP. Although my love for the MP decreased after Halo 2.

Of course I do. Halo 5 is my most anticipated title this year. The beta was the most fun I've had online this generation.

Well of course it was an incoherent mess, you didn't finish the game :). Honestly though, the story is a little muddled, but I thought the environments and game play was good, especially in the later levels. You should give it another go.

And yet a LOT of them, like me, absolutely loved that series.

I started with Halo 3 myself. Incredible multiplayer that received a boost after ODST. From Reach things didn't look so good, but with Halo 4 it was just a wash out. I even read the Forerunner saga (only 2 books were out at the time) and barely got the story from the singleplayer in Halo 4, it was so terrible.

And then MCC hit with the clusterfuck of multiplayer and I just dropped this series completely.

The only time I will play Halo 5 is when I borrow it from a friend for a week to checkout the singleplayer. Most assuredly the multiplayer will be broken at launch, given 343i's history.

But no matter, multiplayer for me this holiday season will be with Destiny and SW:Battlefront. DICE and Bungie got me covered where 343i has failed.

Was Halo 4 broken at launch?

Nope.

Halo 4 was the end of the line for me. Without Bungie it's little more than another run of the mill shooter franchise. 343 have yet to prove themselves as a competent developer imo.

No, I finished Halo 4 on 360 on Heroic and Legendary. The game's best moment was the opening CG cutscene after which, it was all downhill as I realized how utterly constricted and boring most of the encounters were, not to mention the prometheans as a new enemy were just awful to fight.

Still care about it? Yes of course.

But I am conflicted on some things 343i is doing, and so far the Hype Machine for H5 is the least effective so far.

That said, I still am hugely pumped for this. Also really love MCC and really hoping for a Reach and Wars remaster fo complete the collection.

ODST 2 needs to happen eventually.

Nope.

OMFG. I cannot take this shit anymore. What are you talking about please explain. Because first of all Reach multiplayer was the beginning of all the shit everyone hated with nonsense like Armor Lock and all that other bullshit. Which was created by Bungie. Second Halo 5 looks like the best Halo MP since 2. I've actually played it, its the game the fanbase has been waiting for. A modern evolution while retaining the core gameplay. And third the Bungie that created the earlier Halos doesn't even exist! Some Halo devs stayed with Microsoft and others that were around from the beginning got fired from Bungie like Marty.

It really just sounds like people come in here with their heads so far up their asses and spout bs that they have no idea about. Tons of these posts are literally "never cared lol". What does that add to the conversation? Honestly. Which makes sense since the thread title was originally super inflammatory and frankly still is.

I don't get why someone comes into this thread stating "never have, never will". Isn't this thread about going away or sticking with the franchise?

As for myself I am growing old and growing apart from the game. There was a point in my life I couldn't bare the tought of not playing Halo when a new installment came out and not sticking with it. I felt like I'd lose something important. Then Reach fundamentally changed what Halo is. And it's not for me. I went through my played Halo multiplayer matches:

Halo 2 15000 games
Halo 3 5000 games
Reach 1500 games
Halo 4 2000 games
MCC 150 games

I still have love for the franchise, have pre-bought H5 and have hopes of playing it with friends and enjoy it. But if the game isn't suited for me there's nothing hard about dropping it.

Fair enough. The only part of the Prometheans as a new enemy that I disliked was the lack of visual variety outside of the 3 types.

This guy gets it. Those armour abilities changed the game far too much in only a negative way.

As for H4 MP, the more I play it, the more I cannot wait to start playing a MP where you cannot start with a cloak, a mini shotgun, xray vision, etc. Sure I use the Boltshot and Vision in 4 (though recently I have switched to dash as it is basically standard in H5) but every weapon change is good in H5.

My only dislike for the SP in H4 is that it seemed to rely too much on you knowing about the EU. I don't mind things using the EU, in fact...I love it! But it started a game and a game needs to have it all, and if it is from the EU it needs to be explained. H5 appears to have a lot of new, and EU, and classic. As long as it is all brought together well, it will work. We have civil war. Previous games lead to that. Blue Team, books lead to that and the setup to H5 will surely introduce them well enough. Osiris is fresh. The plot and rest of it all stems from 4.

Cannot wait to see there marketing push for this.

Honestly, Bungie isn't some god. Halo 2 wasn't the peak of Halo, it was the peak of Bungie.

Yes.

If Halo 5 isn't great, I might be over it though.

CE is one of my all-time favourite games and I don't feel that any of the subsequent instalments have bettered or even matched it. I'm always kind of disappointed in Halo, but I keep coming back.
