does uhd bluray need specific hardware or is it just software issue?
Let's wait a little bit before jumping off the deep end. Rememeber when MS announced the Xbox One S, it was not clear until a few hours after the Conference that it indeed had a UHD player in it. They also talking about 4k Streaming and such, but not until after was it confirmed to also have the UHD player.
The only reason I can see Sony not doing this is they are banking on streaming 4k content and to keep costs as low as possible.
Maybe through an update??
They done a HDR update for OG PS4 so it's possible
This is a huge dissapointmemt. I assume they wanted to keep the price below 400. But I would have preffered a $500 price tag with a uhd player.
Maybe Cerny is just trolling Rigby?
This has GOT to be an error right? I mean Sony's on the Blu ray board.
This doesn't make any sense
Suddenly I feel the need to sell off my old xbox one and get a slim....
I'd love for it to have it but people don't buy movies. Blu-ray never overtook DVD. Sony is clearly hedging their bets on 4K streaming even if they'll support the niche audience for UHD in the short term.
It doesn't support UHD, why would it need HDCP 2.2 support?Speaking of 4K media playback, does it have 2 HDMI outputs to avoid these awful HDCP 2.2 headaches?
The Pro is only $100 more than the Slim, it wouldn't surprise me if they cut 4K BRD to meet that price point.
Frankly, I'd rather keep my regular PS4 and buy an actual 4K Blu-Ray player now. Sale lost, Sony, good going!
MS mentioned it had UHD BD in the conference itself though. Sony didn't.
I own 17 UHD films right now as I type this. Please tell me more about me.Hilarious all this talk about 4K and HDR, and then you watch compressed streaming shit.
