The VS has to be fake, since when was there a huge image box showing the character on the right corner?

I have finally tried all the heroes in Dota 2 thus far. My last match was a victory with Outworld Destroyer, who is really fun since his orbs do massive damage and you can get some good unexpected kills if you use the force staff properly. Here are my top 10 favorites in no particular order:

Silencer
Lion
Death Prophet
Sand King
Axe
Shadow Shaman
Necrolyte
Kunkka
Lina
Enchantress

I like many others as well, while my "I will never play this hero again" pile is pretty large too.

Also, I'm undefeated as fat Lion.

I don't know who's uglier: new Lion or new Venge. Was her spirit form coming bundled with botox lips?

I prefer the new Venge, the old one was great, but now the old one's face just looks flat compared to this one. Also I really love the new shoulder pads, much more badass.

Yeah, new costume looks really nice, but face... I don't know, have to look at it in-game to conclude.

Finally played some games with the new HUD, and I have to say it feels really good. Slimmer than the old in places, kinder to the eyes in most, and the enhancements (movement speed icon, courier respawn timer, courier status) are stuff I won't want to play without. Great job by Valve on this one.

wha? they did??
The zoom level and zoom in/out distance seemed to me to be more or less the same. Could be down to the slimmer UI.

Yeah, I liked where the CS was before. I wonder if there will be an option/console command to draw it else where.

Fiddling around with the Replay Format thing, I think I have a lead into parsing the combat stuff (Like how many times an active ability is used), but I have no clue where or how item purchases are stored, and things like the placement of wards is kept. I'll likely just make a custom game, and buy a ton of items exclusively so I can get a better idea. Only was a little while ago I found where the log on which unit was which ID for the match, since there is around 900k lines of text for a 12 minute match.

Also, tip on using the file, there is a command line argument to make it print the text to a file instead of to the console. Just do something along the following.
Code:
demoinfo2.exe 110000.dem > output.txt

Can someone explain if being a "Jew faggot" is same or worse than being a "nigger faggot." I had 2 games against the same crew in which my racial and sexual affiliation was the reason they were losing.

I've often noticed that people always assume they are losing to a minority based homosexual. Maybe one day valve can provide actual stats to prove or dispel this assumption.

If you dance with the bad dota community, the community don't change. The community changes you.

not quite sure about the ranking but i am pretty sure that being a "nazi faggot" might fit into the same category. i've been called other "*random-group-of-ppl* faggot" ... mostly by ppl with bad english, so i'd say they just put whatever other english word they know infront of faggot. best one so far "dog faggot".

Valve tweaked Slardar's model a few months ago (they basically gave him some steroids).

ES has the worst model in the game right now and is in the most dire need of attention.

It was tweaked, but it still doesn't compare to the newer models.

Though, to be honest, the one model I really want them to return to is Spectre. She just looks too much like an amorphous blob in game.

If we're talking about shitty heroes. We should be talking about Jakiro, his portrait looks so bad. Hes easily the worst designed hero IMO. The model is pretty low quality too.

So I'm really enjoying learning Dota 2. I have some issues with it (the first part of the learning curve consisting solely of memorizing massive amounts of information) but it's definitely an enjoyable game with you have two evenly match teams.

I want to bring up one concern I have with the game though and hear throughts from people who've been playing for a while.

As a video game there's one thing that really come across as a major flaw in Dota. The games last too long when there's an unevenly matched team. I think that if one team is destroying the other then they should be able to sweep up quickly. As far as I've seen, this doesn't happen, with the game still taking anywhere between 12-30 minutes for the dominating team to claim their victory.

What do you think about this? If this is how it usually is shouldn't this be changed? Even if it's as simple as allowing the losing team to forfeit (the most obvious solution).

people say that eventually there will be an option to concede. I don't play other MOBAs but I heard either LoL or HoN has this option.

Tin foil hat time: I bet one reason why concede isn't in the game yet is because of Valve's monetization model. Presumably Dota 2 will have an item drop system similar to TF2 and if you can forfeit in 15 minutes with the intention of getting hats then that will cut into Valve's bottom line.

Valve is also probably trying to find a balance between allowing people to concede when the score is 3-30 15 minutes in and not wanting people to quit if they give first blood.

League of Legends and Heroes of Newerth have a concede/surrender option, where the whole team has to be in agreement to use it. In HoN, usually there are times when someone is spamming a concede vote just because the other team got First Blood quickly, so that can get annoying.

That said, I don't think that's a reason to exclude it from Dota 2, and in matches where you have a picking mishap, or it's a complete stomp, you should be able to use it instead of waiting it out. It does get interesting when crazy comebacks happen (which I have been a part of before). There was one game where they got one of our Ancient towers down, and we were still on their T3 towers in all lanes. The other team would not push and was just turtling, so we had more carries, got farmed, pushed through and won!

The concede vs. no concede issue has been brought up a few times on Dota 2 GAF. I agree that it should be there, but I think it might need to have some limits on it, such as not allowing it until 3 towers are down, or a certain number of difference between kills on the teams, or something like that.

That may somewhat fit into my theory. I noticed in the Hero responses, they all say some variation of "It's in the bag!" for their taunt. Perhaps that refers to the backpack somehow? One that was particularly interesting was Spectre's: The fullness of our victory bag is inevitable!

so item drops and stuff like that wont happen in game right?

Edit: I mean in a way that could disrupt the gameplay.

The sniper is, by far, my favorite character. There is nothing more satisfying than rapid fire mayhem at the end game. Also sniping fools who think they can run away is hilarious.

M5 vs Darer was amazing, also funny to see how Purge adapted to the new UI, wonder how Tobi will fix it.

My guess is it will be just like TF2, a message when you die. Maybe a clickable popup though since you still wanna see stuff going on most of the time after you die.

Anyone watching StarLadder? Great game between Darer and M5, huge team fights.

I caught the tail end of it. How did Death Prophet fair? I'm curious to see how the pros play her (mostly itemization and maybe some small tips since her skills are straightforward) since I end up choosing her quite often as teams I play on generally lack a solid pusher. I noticed that she had Vanguard,BKB and Shiva's guard along with mana boots. I couldn't quite make out the last item though since Valve changed up the icons (I think it was Mek...not sure)

I myself have been building Vanguard or Hood(depends on the other team)/Bloodstone + something else (Sheep stick if going well/ Eul's if not).
