guys i dont c the point of buying any boots besides treads, i mean the rest suck wtf?

Your Sarcastic Real Talk looses upwards of 90% of its humor when there is no context to it. I get the joke, but who are you making fun of? You guys suck at comedy. Get good or get out.

Reel tawk coming from the doc, YOU GONNA TAKE THAT ANBOKR?

You should be nice, you are talking to a 12 year old after all.

wtf.. Steam is trying to redownload DOTA2 as a preload. 2.3gb of it. Has there been any updates? I last played on Saturday (after the Luna/Wisp patch).

So I was just playing Chen and looked at the Valve recommended build for him. Vlads in in "Situational Items" for him. What the flying fuck?! I guess they were thinking it was for keeping his creeps alive, but still, I don't think that justifies the price of Vlads on Chen at all. You would be better off getting a Scythe of Vyse or almost any other item in the game instead of Vlads on him. Am I right in saying there's no justification for that?

You're wrong. Chen requires almost no farm to work so getting Vlad's helps your entire team with good armor not to mention the lifesteal for your melee carry.

Vlads is great for Chen, especially in a melee heavy team. Damage buff, armor buff, mana regen buff, lifesteal for your creeps. A Chen with a vlads and an alpha wolf is a force to be reckoned with.

Vlads is for supports, unless you are Ursa or lycan, you don't buy vlads.

While I wouldn't get it often, it does have its uses (read: "situational").
Oh and don't compare it to a hex because it costs less than half as much.

They really need some kind of vote kick feature in this game..

I just ran into the asshole to end all assholes... we had a Riki who died like 3 times in the first 5 minutes of the game, so naturally people got a little tense, and asked him not to feed. So then he died 2 more times chasing, and people got upset with him. So then he said "You want me to ruin your game?", and he spent the rest of the game in the fountain, buying wards and couriers, and feeding our couriers to the enemy team so we never had one. Everyone in the game reported him.. but man, if we could have just kicked him it would have been a much better game.

Had a fun AM game yesterday, probably broke all of my GPM records (had 699 at the end) and came back from losing mid barracks. The enemies didn't have a real hard carry, so it was basically just a matter of farming better and turtling. (they had a Shadow Fiend, but he kinda sucked and didn't have a lot of items)

Is Abyssal a good late-late game item (as in, last item slot to fill) for him? I got it with him yesterday, but the game was basically over at that point. I guess the issue with pure +damage items like MKB or Daedalus is that they don't work with his illusions.

Vlad's is a pretty good late game item for support heroes. If you have good positioning and don't get insta gibbed, the carry can benefit from the lifesteal aura without having to buy a Satanic/MoM and everyone on the team can use armor.

They had a kick feature in HON. It NEVER got used correctly.

First of all, it needed all players on both teams to agree. If he was playing with a friend on his team, it wouldn't work, and a lot of times the other team wouldn't want to kick because it's easier for them to win if he intentionally feeds.

Second of all, the only times I ever saw someone get kicked was when everyone else in the game was trolling them. If a team of 4 players + 1 random was doing really well, it was common for them to kick the random. They'd vote yes because there were 4 of them, the other team would vote yes because they wanted a better chance to win.

I've seen lists of recommended heroes for new players all over the place, but I was wondering if people in here had any specific recommendations. I'm willing to try almost anything, having just started out and not being set into a role I like yet.

And would people here play with me later (or should I ask in the in-game channel?)

I dunno if it would be better to start off against bots solo, co-op against bots, or just throw myself into matchmaking and hope for the best. I'm sure if there was at least one gaffer along for the ride, trial by fire in matchmaking wouldn't be too bad.

I got my Beta Invite last Friday so was in the same boat as you. I played about 15 matches this weekend and the hero I had the most fun with was the Sniper. I also enjoyed normal matchmaking way more then bot matches, and actually found the bot matches harder. People were also nice and helpful. In all the games I played everyone got along and there was no raging on noobs. I played a bit of LoL this past year so going into Dota 2 I had a general understading of how the game works. That being said, Dota 2 is on another level compared to LoL. Everything about it is just simply better.

Yeah.. That's understandable. It just sucks not being able to do anything against people like that.

The most "standard" full item build for an AM is Manta/Bfury/Heart/Butterfly/Treads/Abyssal

Vlads/BKB are often seen as decent alternatives in specific situations. (usually replacing either the bfury or abyssal)

Ethereal blade for shiggles if you are going against somebody with a huge mana pool.

I'd love to see the meta in a low skill in house captain's mode match. The pick/bans would be so wildly different compared to top tier play (IE- Ursa/Huskar/Viper would probably never make it past first round of bans)

Saw this Drafting game on Reddit: http://dota2draft.the-cluster.org/

Lets you play out a draft against a random opponent.

tried and ended up with this

was dire, lol

This is 1,000,000% not true. Vote kick got abused some, but the times it saved me from some shit were countless. I don't know what mmr you played at, but I never saw abuse outweigh legitimate use above like, 1600mmr.

As with all items, it depends on what you're up against. The stun can be awesome though as it goes through bkb.

Well, you/your teammates probably could have asked him more politely not to feed, offered advice, etc.

Yeah my teammates could have, I felt like I wasn't rude about it, and just aske him to be more careful. Although after dying 2 more times right after that it was obvious he didn't care what we said and wasn't going to take our advice even if we were more polite about it.

Edit: Dota 2 appearing to have all sorts of issues, Tobi is having issues with his stream too. EGADS! D:

(Side note: Trading a rare furion bracers and strange horns for an Axe chest if anyone has one)
Strange horns? I'll take you up on that! Axe chests are the #5 series right?

If they add a concede button, it should also take into account the current Gold and Exp lead. A lot of people love saying "GG" and AFKing late in the game after a single lost teamfight, even if they have an advantage, and that just ruins it for everyone.

Is there no measure in place to award someone who doesn't leave the base for more than say a third of the game with an abandon?

If not, they should add that.

Just went to TG. :(

Got three chests and upon my first one?

Wow that's badass.I wish crate keys were like a dollar each, I would splooge hard.

The last game I was in I saw a boar with grass growing underneath him. The unique effects look much better than tf2's.

Has anyone run into someone with item names/description tags? In tf2 whenever you were killed by a custom weapon it would tell you its name and description, I don't know if this is the case in dota 2. I have never seen it but I don't know how popular tags are.

You can't have 1000000%
