I can't seem to change my camera grip button. By default it's the middle mouse button but I wanna change it, and it won't let me...

HoN is adding a new item, an Int version of Sange/Yasha to its game. The new sword is called Light Brand. 16 int, 3 mana/sec, what you would expect, but it has a pretty cool on hit effect, an AoE dot. The hit target takes 8 magic per second for 3 seconds, and the orb can stack upto 3 times. The damage AoE is 200. A bit of an odd effect for an int item.

Also, it can combine with its Sange/Yasha into more Sange & Yahsa like swords, and having one that is all 3 sword combined.

Promotonal Video thingy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_1XOnEnS-M&feature=youtu.be

Video just building the items: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GRfNfll0uA&feature=youtu.be

Pretty cool idea. Wonder how effective it will end up being in the end.

The idea about the third sword and an AOE magic dot as an orb effect are interesting, sure, but the items you can actually combine it to don't look terribly special to me. It's just combined stats from all the items you combined... And a stronger dot. I don't know really. I guess there's potential for intelligence carries with the Grimoire of Power, but I can't see any real reason to even boot up HoN to go test these items.

Get that HON crap outta here...

Listen to this man.
How and why exactly do you find this worth posting? He posted it here because he wants to hear what people in the dota-gaf community think about it. You can ignore it if you find it difficult to stomach, but please don't do this unnecessary elitist shit.

Listen to this man.

There's some interesting concepts in hon. I enjoyed some stuff in hon that I wish were in dota, but overall I couldn't stomach the community or s2; playing HoN after Dota 2 is really hard to do, the graphics are so disorientating.

I really like the way their S&Y stacks the movement debuff instead of being a proc, and I like how their vanguard accumulates damage blocks over time instead of being a % chance. I'm not a huge fan of rng in competitve games, so the less of it the better.

Seeing how they handle the game brings up interesting discussions on how dota 2 items work and how some could be made more viable.

As far as dota itemization goes I'd like to see a medallion type item for casters, that places a debuff that refunds mana for spells cast on the target and also reduced magic resists by some number.

Also would love to see an extension to soul ring, and the buckler (the one that builds into mek) getting something else it could build into. Atos still needs some tweaking in my opinion as well.

That would be so broken, its like an eth blade but cheaper. (Seeing as how medallion gives -6 armor, ~25% dmg increase)

I admit my ideas are terrible, I'm not a game designer and I don't have an environment to test these changes out.

It wouldn't be 25% though, no way. More around 5-10%. I put the mana refund effect in there because I know caster damage is already superior early on, just some of them have sustainability problems.

its interesting, but icefrog has been against +SP for a long time. Simply put, frog's formula for dota revolves around early game nuke dmg and casters doing most of the killing, with right click dps being superior coming into late game. Adding items that increase spell dmg (aside from eth blade which was pretty much built for morphling) would make casters scale throughout the entire game, which is something frog tried to avoid with most heroes aside from a few int carries like od.

A friend and I laned as Keeper and Axe for a few games last night. Most hilariously OP early lane combo I've ever seen, it honestly shouldn't be allowed.

True. It's also a good differentiator from LoL where basically any hero scales due to the AP stat, and as a result Dota is very role focused and inherently emphasizes a greater degree of teamwork.

The veil already gives 25% damage amp for spells that lasts 20 seconds. Granted it's not as cheap as a medallion, it can help extend the usefulness of some spells late game. Also, it's a good joke item.

Where's the Low Tier stamp when you need it most?

I don't care if it's a low tier tactic, we're rolling with it until someone stops us. And speaking of low tier, when will there be a ranking system in Dota 2 similar to Starcraft 2 (or some other ranking system)? It would be nice if there was some sense of progression other than Win counts (which aren't really a watermark for skill obviously).

I'd love to see a SC2-like ranking system for this game. Hopefully they implement one.

Black best western carry by far.
Ridiculous...

Woo. Got a response from tobi on twitter. I feel special. Asked if talk dota will ever be a podcast. Cuz I need something to listen to at work.

I'm sad that I fucking rocked my first game as gyrocoptor and yet I still lost.

I completely shut down jungle enigma by hunting him down with my stun rocket thingies 6 or so times in the laning phase.

Wow, this game is still in beta?

Sounds like valve is stretching this so the game won't flop hard as fuck when release.

I dunno man, it's the most played game on steam and beta invites are still technically limited.

I guess there's a chance all those players will stop playing on release, I wouldn't count on it though, since most of them have probably spent money on hats and hats will carry over.

I'm assuming you have no idea what DOTA is? They're already making a shitload of money off the game, FYI.

Edit: haha whoops, didn't refresh before replying, talk about a dogpile. But yeah, not the best post ever.

Anyone? I know it was possible in HoN. Wondering of Dota lets you do it too.
Yes, you can. It's in the top left, one of those buttons. It opens up a menu and you can turn off ally help for individual heroes. (AKA if KotL is trolling, just turn off allied help from him)
