Just seems crazy for a card game.

I have no idea what I'm looking at. I'm just waiting for one of them to lay down a card and have the commentators lose their shit.

This particular tournament is being dominated by boring decks, a lot of people are pretty annoyed

EDIT: oh god, the guy on the left is running an Eggs deck. There is no deck more dull to watch.

That was a good match! I haven't watched a lot of competitive games...is it normal to dc after you decide the game is lost in competitive play?

You call gg and dc. Its more bad manners to gg and then keep playing and dragging it out tbh.

If you've watched the GEST qualifiers, quite a few of the teams do just that. But then the caster said it was just way things worked in... Thai? I think it was the Thailand qualifiers. That or Philippines.

Thats how they roll in SEA. They like to keep playing.

Catching up on the big Star Ladder games and the other patch stuff (skipping over some of the well-tread ground *rimshot*):

40px-Armlet_of_Mordiggian.png
Armlet of Mordiggian
  • Armlet cooldown increased from 1 to 2 seconds
A bit more sensible, but you can still juke with this with ease.

40px-Rod_of_Atos.png
Rod of Atos
  • Cast range increased from 800 to 1200
  • Slow increased from 50 to 60%
I ran some numbers on this before its 6.75 buffs, let alone the 6.76, and in terms of stats, it was already a good buy. With these two patches in mind, the added health is extremely cost-effective, the added Int remains great, and its active ability is notably stronger and easier to use effectively (both to chase and to save oneself or a teammate). I expect this to be seen somewhere down the line.

40px-Shadow_Amulet.png
Shadow Amulet
  • Fade time decreased from 2.75 to 2.6
Just watched Dendi employ this on Pudge, I think for heroes such as this, the utility of the Amulet itself may outweigh the utility of its Shadow Blade upgrade (for reasons of [no] cooldown and [no] manacost, as well as gold expenditure). Crystal Maiden, Witch Doctor, Pugna, Lion, Enigma, all these sorts of heroes could find a lot of use from the Amulet whilst ignoring the SB entirely. It's weird, but it seems to me there's little incentive to complete the buildup.

Tag Team
  • You are assigned two random heroes (different hero classes). You choose which to start the game with. You start with the same bonus gold as all random.
  • You have an ability that lets you swap heroes, has a 3 minute cooldown. You can swap while your current hero is dead to resume with the other hero.
  • Any gold you gain is added to both heroes. Any gold you lose on current hero is lost on the other hero as well.
  • Each hero has their own independent item inventories. Each time you swap heroes, the XP gain is synchronized.
  • You have to be in the fountain to swap heroes (use -tt)
I could see myself sinking a lot of time into this mode, doing things like leading with a Caustic-maxed-2nd Sand King to bankroll Arcane Boots and Blink Daggers for him and someone like an Earthshaker or Enigma, and rotating when I die or my ult goes on cooldown. But in general, I wonder when modes like these will be ported over (perhaps once all the heroes make it in).

I've been thinking ever since 6.75 that Rod of Atos would be a seriously good pickup on Batrider after tranq/blink, especially if you don't need a BKB.

It's completely farmable for someone like Bat though and the benefits of it are really really nice, giving him extra damage, hp, and more slow.

Eth blade benefits like 5 heroes total maybe, I think it's okay to have items that appeal to only a few heroes.

I think its a visble item on visage as well. Gives you an easier time to land your gargoyle stuns. (Their move speed isnt bad, just the landing animation takes some time before it hits)

Wow the Rod, I never really looked at the stats, +25 Intelligence +325 HP and now a 60% slow (Drow's level 4 frost arrow) in a 1200 range..

Seems like a good int support item when they have some cash. 3100 is a lot though.

I still think Rod is too expensive and benefits too few heroes because it has no regen.
It certainly only bumps regen by 1, but its main draws remain the massive health boost and healthy Int bonus, as well as the huge slow. It being expensive doesn't change the fact that it's a very cost-efficient item. That it doesn't add all that much regen is to ignore all the other benefits out of hand.

I suppose that the question, then, is in what cases are the Atos the better choice over a Euls/Force/Scepter/Ghost/Orchid/Sheep/Mek/etc. Most of the context of this discussion has been focused on and around supports...and we know your typical support is fortunate to have enough money to spend on just TWO of these. Given it's price, farming an Atos makes me feel like it means you're not going to be able to farm a sheep or an Orchid or a scepter, you know? Is it good enough to skip those bigger items in favor of it?

In terms of health it's visibly more cost efficient than all of those items, and thanks to the buildup you can reap a little of that early with a vitality booster. So if you're concerned about being burst out in the early to early-middle game as a support, the buildup lends itself well to covering that vulnerability, even if you don't finish it before a staff or mek or the like. If the game and your farm goes well, you can aim more expensive (ie sheepstick). If it isn't coming as quickly as you need, two 1k pieces will give you yet more health and mana to play with and sustain you through the game's sticks.

Of course, it all depends on what you're valuing the most in a particular matchup: is it position and movement speed (Force, Euls)? Is it hard disable (Euls, Orchid, Sheep)? Is it health (Mek, Atos, Bloodstone)? What is particularly advantageous here with the Atos is that you're not locked into it once you begin.

Does anyone find this ironic or hypocritical that pro-players are allowed to GG and DC, but pubs aren't allowed a concede option. Not even a 5/5 30 min CC.
Its possibly more ironic that the upper tiers of dota are the ones that normally campaign for not having a concede option.

If its not obvious I think the game should have some form of 5/5 rax down CC or something.

Eh, not having one is fine with me. Dota has so many idiots that any pub games that weren't a complete stomp would end up with one team conceding immediately at 30 minutes.

Found my chart and updated it.

  • Atos remains highly cost-efficient for raw health in an int hero item, but now is slightly more cost-efficient in the same respect than Bloodstone and Aghanim's Scepter (whereas before it was slightly less).
  • Atos was the most cost-efficient item of those outlined for raw mana pre-6.75. No change in 6.76.
  • Atos was the most cost-efficient item of those outlined for combined raw health and mana pre-6.75. No change in 6.76.
  • You spend 0.77 less gold per unit of mana on Eul's Scepter than you used to.
  • You spend 1.16 more gold per unit of mana on Force Staff than you used to.

iG and MUFC are about to play if anyone's up at a weird hour like me.
Can't decide between last game on Draskyl's stream or this. Halp.

MUFC might have been able to hold their barracks had they fissure-blocked the ramp, possibly (though that would have opened ES up to tremendous risk).

10 Minute Godlike Night Stalker.

3 team wipes at 20 minutes.

The best part was that MUFC was winning both their other lanes up until night hit that haste rune and then Ferrari just proceeded to utterly wreck them.

So, what is the best way to deal with a PA who has gotten a few items up? In a number of games with her, if she didn't get completely shut her down or just win fast, after about 40 minutes there is nothing we can really do to stop her, even in a few games we were leading. What kind of heroes or items builds can help?

Magic nukes is my go to. She can't dodge magic DMG.... unless she has BKB then you're kinda fubar without MKB

Sheepstick is good because Hex blocks evasion. Blademail is good on your tanky heroes because PA will just tear herself apart in one hit. Ghost Scepter will get her off your ass for a few seconds, as will Eul's. MKB is of course crucial for your carry to hit her through Blur.

Heroes like Lion and Rhasta are good because of the aforementioned Hex and chain disablers are great for locking her down. Bane Enfeeble should bring down her damage substantially. Void is great carry to pick because Chrono disables evasion, as does Doom. Aside from that, magic nukers are your best bet to kill her if your carry doesn't have an MKB yet.

The games I have been in, she just takes out the magic users while BKB is up. Maybe its just a string of bad luck on my part, or some oversight in positioning.
