I was mostly just joking. But "red orcs"? Uh, you do realize Warlock is an orc (or Oglodi in Valve's made up world) and he's not red. Or do you only consider red Oglodi to be the superior type? Racism in Dota goes farther than I expected.

Actually it doesn't depend since there's no one with Thai/Pakistani/Indian etc. features.

I'm sure Valve will flesh out the "lore" of Dota and explain the races/tribes/etc., but some characters are obviously from the same "race" while others seem to be in between or their own thing. It's kind of a strange hodgepodge right now.

dude youre hella nerdy

edit: btw bokr sucks at sf i am and always will be #1
edit2: selling lessons pm me

That came out of nowhere.

See what I did there?

Wut.

Gonna give Dota a week long break, gonna go
play other games
for a little bit.

It was a joke, seeing as it seems that in porn, Asian is always defined as chinese/japanese. Sometimes Indians and Arabs get their own category, when by right all are still in one continent. :P

As a certified Asian™ I will speak for the entire continent that most of us don't mind.

We also find it kickass and funny that Puck is totally a chibi korean dragon.

I have 995 battle points, waiting for the Halloween update to hit before I level up so I can maybe get a new item. Last time I tried this I got some stupid Nature's Prophet bracers. BUT THIS TIME IT WILL WORK.

So bounty hunter apparently has a 90% win rate in g-1 League. Upping ganking gold and not readjusting track gold seems like it was a pretty bad oversight.

I don't understand the skill rating thing at all. I am somehow almost 100% "5" rated on Shadow Demon, even though I lose with him almost exclusively and don't even play that well. He's just fun.

Then on the other hand I win almost every game as CM and I keep up with wards, I don't feed and have a positive K/D ratio in all those games, yet I'm around a "2" on CM.

Apparently my Jakiro and Drow are also godlike, for doing what, I don't know, I'm not really good at either, where as my go to heroes for when my team seems terrible and I think I can win it for them, Lina and Lion, I'm low-rated.

And when Bounty lost it was in a team with a gross mismatch in terms of skill (I like Flash, but they're just not on the same level as Orange + iceiceice)

mock if old, etc.

This is about a year old.

Also what I don't get about the new patch, wasn't Centaur in Dota 1 as well, why wasn't he super OP there but now suddenly is in Dota 2?

His ult changing is what made him good at all, and that wasn't out long in Dota 1 before he came out in Dota 2.

Dismayed with getting steamrolled by pub-trains and matched with "mid or I feed" baddies.. anyone on an Asian/Australian time schedule want to join up some time?

My past few games have been all pretty well-mannered, I'm pleasantly surprised. Shoutout to the Venezuelan player who randomed Razor and wound up being an excellent lanemate despite the language barrier. He gave up first blood, but we were able to get two kills and good farm on him in exchange. It's games like that that I really enjoy playing a babysitter support (Disruptor in this case). He saved his mana for kills on lane, stayed out of trouble such that I could stack and pull the camp and reset the lane, and we took the T1 tower in short order. From there we moved around the map and contributed to more kills and more towers, my portion of gold went into early Arcane Boots, Mekansm, and then a fully-leveled Necronomicon to end the game on and to catch out their Templar Assassin (set up at least one lopsided fight this way). The rhythm that game felt really, really good.

I too enjoy babysitting/playing support (recently I've been going through a bit of a wisp phase). There was one game this evening where I was laning with jug against a bountyhunter, while lone druid was jungling. We dominated them so hard that they ragequit after ten minutes... anyway, I've never really considered getting necro- do you find that it's effective? What sort of situations do you use it in most often?
My main strategy has been to gank super aggressively at every opportunity- relocate in with a PA, Jug, Luna or some other agi carry, and pick them off one or two at a time- do you think necro would help in those situations?
Also, relocating to the mouth of their fountain to intercept the dying hero that has limped away from a teamfight = best feeling ever.

Evil Wizards. Zombies. Magic Spells. Forbidden books. Shrunken Heads. Hay bales. This is as scary as it gets! (Much scarier than the Dota 2 update).

It's coming tomorrow. :)

I hope. :|

Oh who am I kidding? :(

Necro gave me everything I wanted and needed at that point in the game:
  • Health to stand in the fights long enough to make a difference.
  • Mana to sustain my Mekansm usage and teamfight combo without coming close to running dry.
  • A touch of additional teamfight damage (AoE heroes such as they had find it very hard to avoid killing the melee necro unit and eating that damage).
  • Pushing power by way of the two summoned units and the bonus Int going to my damage.
  • The Truesight to catch TA out and begin a fight with a numbers advantage (also works for any invis hero).

It provided unrivaled utility for the money I put into it, I successfully survived most of the teamfights in the midgame and kept the push on with my team. Even when we traded three heroes for their entire team, the two remaining of us could still chip away at T3s and keep the pressure on. Razor chose his items very well to suit that intense pushing pressure also: Desolator and Aghs ult combining to reduce building armor to an insane degree.

On Wisp I could see the same circumstances aligning: He's a Strength hero so will benefit from the health and added damage, he can use the larger mana pool to sustain Mekansm, spirits, and Relocate use, he could probably find a use for pushing and counterwarding with it, and specifically if you're ganking a carry or some other hero who is very dependent on their limited mana pool, the necro units burn mana (melee passively and the archer actively, tab through and Q). The item is insanely underrated in matchmaking.

I'm betting next year.

edit: What are your methods of persuading people to not do dumb things? I'm consistenly getting bad lanes (not like oh, this isn't the best lane combo but here is your solo hard lane as lycan, have fun!) and I can never talk people out of it. I'll pick last and still get some wierd lanes. I'll explain what lane I want and choose a hero that's appropriate for it, then people pick 2 more carries. Its like people don't want to win games. It's becoming more and more prevalent and I have no idea how I'm suppose to win games when people set you up for failure.

Someone would sit at fountain and shit-talk me for 4 minutes at a time, come out, get some exp, go back in the fountain and keep shittalking, and repeated this process until it got to the point that the game was winnable, and we pushed in and won after their team capitulated with their own infighting and lack of organization. Lol

He actually loaded up my Steam profile to find my real name, so he can say things like "brian im sorry ur mom is a prostitute"

of course he was a BH picker.

Uhh...weird.

My Bones DK set is better, bros.
I just need Brace and shoulder.

Speaking of which, traded my pudge hook for the sword and helm. Thoughts?

Edit: so is that Ursa set a rarity now?

Templar Assassin needs some nerf on meld. Watching the Na'Vi vs KP and that shit does too much damage.

Jakiro's nerf was pretty minimal, he's ice path are still great, this Na'Vi vs KP game proved that.

Ehh, hook is worth 7-8 keys and the sword and helm you traded for is 4 keys at best.

Thanks. I'll definitely try it out now, especially when facing any invis heroes.

Another question- when I am trying to cast force staff (or any other targeted item, if I recall), the cursor doesn't indicate whether the target is in range (the purple tinge) or if I need to move before I cast (the little man next to it). Is there any way to change this / a key I can press to highlight the range of it? I find that when I try to initiate with the force staff (casting it on one of the heroes that is caught slightly out of position) I always misjudge the range, and the delay causes him to be pushed in the wrong direction.

(of course the main reason I get force staff, beyond it's general utility, is then I can make permanent wards by force staffing to a rune spot, relocating to a creep wave, tethering to a melee creep and bringing him back with me. Free wards for the rest of the game)

Uh, why don't you just start out tethered to the creep and then relocate to a cliff?
