Why Alchemist?
I still need to experiment more. I played Diretide twice tonight (with Pudge and Puck) and pretty well with both. I did change my builds up on both. I started to go standard build on Pudge but having a shitton of gold allows you to get stuff faster. Probably in the future I won't get a Scepter on Pudge and just go straight to a Heart, hell maybe even two Hearts. It seems like on everyone, when you get the shitton of extra gold before the Roshan fight, most people just load up on Divine Rapiers and Hearts. I had a Heart and Divine on Puck even.
I've just noticed so far that the tanky heroes do better just because of the HP reduction while holding the candy, but the heroes with escapes do well too. I could run candy back and fourth really well with Puck, although Nature's Prophet showing up was always a problem because killing me wasn't difficult if I was holding a lot of candy. On that note, Nature's Prophet is kind of broken for this. I can also see great potential for Tinker for obvious reasons. Hell just imagine what being able to TP to candy bowls, maxing March first and watching candy thieves just disentegrate due to the March could do. On top of that missiles would be absolutely ridiculous.
For the Roshan fight, the tanky hard carries have this one. Faceless Void would be great here, although I have yet to see what spells do and don't work against Roshan. Sheepstick does work on him, yet Pudge's Dismember doesn't stun him. I'm curious if Chronosphere would even stop him at all. Having a Butterfly + Divine + Heart + Refresher Faceless Void would be incredible. Having the escapes is also useful. The main reason I picked Puck my second time was because I could just Phase Shift out of Roshan's wave thing (the billion Deafening Blasts) and the multitude of Sunstrikes, then go back to attacking comfortably.
It seems the items of choice in general are Heart of Tarrasque and Divine Rapier. For those Agility carries picking up a Butterfly is great too.

Faceless Void's Ulti doesnt work on Roshan but will affect everyone else in turn screwing everyone over. Just a word of warning.

I use Windrunner.
Ward your pumpkin with both types of wards constantly, and save up for a desolator. Her shackle is pretty great in this mode seeing as both pumpkin camps are surrounded by trees, and not to mention there's bottlenecks around.
Try it out. Worked very well for me so far.
Don't use Dark Seer too. His ulti screws the other team in the fight.

The most broken Diretide hero is, bar none, Meepo.
Dammit, there goes that idea. In that case PA sounds like the one for the job. Hell in Diretide it might be worth it to get Butterfly on PA, just to get those crits out more often. You'll have the cash for it without a doubt, even though you aren't getting the evasion out of it. There's some other ones I'm curious about though.

Lifestealer (or anyone rather) with a Skull Basher?
Silencer - Global Silence? Curse? Last Word? I can just imagine stealing so much intelligence during the candy part, then blowing your cash on Divine Rapiers and murdering Roshan with them.
Tiny with Hyperstones and his Craggy Exterior? Will that passive even work on Roshan?
Edit: Didn't think of this one: Keeper of the Light. Waves all day every day, Chakra yourself, give no fucks.
So if I understand this right, the "Truce" debuff basically makes it where the other team is under a Naga Siren ult (pre-nerf) to your team, but they can move and everything. Movement spells still work on them, Pudge can still hook them, you can Vacuum them, etc.

This seemed like it might be the case, but I wasn't confident enough to try him yet.
Had a lot of luck as phantom lancer.
Looks like there was supposed to be mini bosses too, must of needed cutting for time. Also, it looks like abilities would have spawned at the rune locations. Hook, Arrow, Missle, Toss, and Vacuum. They also look like they would of been fully sharable, and have two uses each. Also, a special version of the Rapier, which I think would only last 3 deaths.
Also, there is a just plan autumn version of the map.

I wonder how hard it is to get more eggs. Looks like the only way may be to buy them, though the Halloween Chests have a 10% chance to drop more.

Got two couriers so far. Speed Demon and Fearless Badger. Any idea why they're labeled as "Custom" couriers?
It would be incredibly frustrating to see that you might win a courier, and then lose the game. It was looking that way for the fearless badger courier, but one won teamfight meant we flipped a -20 into a +20. Felt so relieved. Another person on my team won the frog courier as well.
Now I'm wondering how the essenses affect what you get out of the egg.

ok i found by far the best combo for diretide if you and a buddy are playing.. it has worked non stop. you can thank me if it works for you the same way it does for me....
wisp + phantom lancer.
overdrive phantom when you port in their candy stash. port back to your candy. over... and overrrr and overr and overrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
oh let me add another tip: wisp collects the candy - when you port in phantom dopples so you have 2 of you hitting on the candy chest. always let wisp grab the candy because if they stun or break tether wisp always makes it back. you get credit for all the candy he deposits.

This mode is borderline unplayable against a well versed meepo player. Loki and I made a meepo start 0-4 and were up in candy 61-17, and he was still level 25 by 13 minutes and completely untouchable. To beat it it would seem that you would need to play the entire game against him, and hope the rest of his team folds.

wellllll id my opinion on that is to wait until you get vision of disruptor outside the base and pop in when they dont suspect it. even if he sends you back you can grab some candy quick.

I got a Crimson Wyvern Helm last game which just looks fucking badass. If anyone wanted to trade for Chronite Armor for Faceless, I'd like to trade mine that I got tonight for a different rare.

So if a team ragequits before the round is up, you don't get an item. It wasn't going to be a good item anyways, but still. STILL.
Also, it seems like it will take a while to get these essences. You need 15, and only sometimes do they drop IF you win. I suppose it you play a couple of matches every day you could probably hatch one.

So I just had a Bug in this mode where the enemy team could attack me during the final rosh phase and ONLY me. The other team was nice except for their anti-mage.
Couldn't kill me in the candy phases, so he just kept harassing me.
