I tried Invoker for the first time due to Diretide. It didn't go well (wasn't horrible, but was far from good.) I don't think he's really the best hero for that mode though anyway.

Was also griefed by a Pudge and a Clockwerk on the Roshan fight. The Pudge would hook me back into the AOE slam or the Clockwerk would lock me down. Was frustrating. Lots of "you mad bro?" afterwards too. I didnt get it . Don't you want to do that fight QUICKLY?
Are the Diretide chest items unique like the TI2 chest items were? It says you got it during DireTide 2012 or whatnot, and then in 4 months they'll be buyable/drops without any fancy text on the side?

So what exactly is the point of the Rosh fight at the end? I originally thought that only the team that got the last hit on rosh got items but then it looks like thats not the case. Do you get more items for killing him faster or something?

I wish there was more randomness to the fight. That being said, it feels very weird to me playing a PVE fight in a PVP game. I would almost be ok if you could still PVP during the fight. Maybe nerf Roshan's health a bit.
Jungle creeps actually drop candy pretty consistently. Having a jungler is a valid strategy if you can keep him from being ganked once he's stocked up. What I did last night was play Wisp with an Axe on our team, and he'd stay in the jungle until he had about 10 candies, then I'd warp in there to grab him and take him back to the basket. He's also close enough to run into the opponent's basket if they aren't around, and I can pull him out easily.
It's a gamble. If there's a specific item you are looking for, I would recommend just looking on tf2outpost/dota2trade(rs) because the chance of getting duplicates is always present. If that doesn't concern you, go wild. As far as getting the keys cheaper? Depends on who you can find selling at a lower rate of regular keys:diretide keys (regular keys can be bought for $2-2.20)

I was planning to just play as much as I could until the event ended but after 2 days and around maybe 60 or so games I think I've had enough. Between people trying to carry 15 candies, not giving candies to rosh, passing candies to team mates instead of putting them in the pot, people picking teams of supports, I've just lost the will to care anymore. Doesn't help that I've basically got nothing to show for it in terms of items while other people I know play for 2 hours and end up with 3 mythical couriers.

Even if you have tons of shit commons, just sit on them and wait for the crafting that is inevitably coming. Or if you're impatient delete them to try for better items.

He's really damn good in Diretide though since there are SO many 5v5 teamfights from the very beginning.

Had one game, Visage on my team had 4 of his familiars out, so he'd just stagger stun the other team until we wiped them out. Another game without a courier or unusual essence (two games in a row someone got it instead). Oddly enough I did get three items, didn't expect that...and it wasn't a chest.
edit - I take it back, he didn't have four, he still had two. No idea what I was looking at.
Opened a few chests and didn't really like what I got. The one highlight is a decent TA Geisha-style hair comb. (hair is pinned up like a Maiko, she loses the long braid)
Really hoping for a baby Roshan or something notable.
What didn't you like about it? No spoilers though. A few of my friends that went to go see it say it's one of the best things ever. I can't decide though, the movie seems pretty polarizing.

I thought it had pretty messy editing and most of the stories weren't that interesting to me and not enough time was spent on each individual one despite the incredibly long running time. I also really felt the length of the movie and got extremely tired of watching it for probably the last hour. I watch a LOT of movies and that is not at all a common issue for me so it was particularly this movie. The only thread in the movie that I found particularly interesting were also the ones where they spent the least amount of time those being (I'll spoiler this but neither of these are spoilers if you saw the trailer)

I also found the overall message to be pretty insufferably lame and that the movie was really preachy and lacking in subtly.
I think it depends on what colour you want it to be in the end. With 3 yellow essences it's going to be (surprise) yellow, but you could also add red to make an orange one, blue to make a green one, or both to make a white one.
Undying is completely OP in Diretide, I love it.
Since the map is all about teamfights with more than 2/3 enemies clamped together, it's like christmas for any undying player, you wreck their shit from level 1 and can't fucking die. And later a good tombstone in their/our pumpkin can completely change the tides of battle.

Yeah, the format of the story was not suitable especially for a blockbuster movie. The action beats feel really forced in and given how little time they spend on each of the stories as is many of them come across as incredibly empty. I felt a few of them were done well enough but the editing leaves a hell of a lot to be desired.
On the other hand, it is a rather pretty movie.
And one story is just the Matrix.
I can't seem to get anything but rubbish commons. At this point I would almost have the Uldrak set for Dragon Knight if I didn't keep giving the pieces to my friend because I think that set is absolute rubbish. Then the flamers in my games get rares. Chance hates me.
It's good they fix stuff that's easy to exploit, but the fight is really boring, he only does like 3/4 things that you can easily avoid, so you just spend a lot of time trying to kill him with autoattacks, which takes forever. Wish they could make it shorter for everybody.

Yeah. At the very least he should move around the map every 2-3 minutes, and force the players to move with him. Periodically spawn some Baby Roshans as well to force movement.
Effect isn't that great though.
