Basically just kill the greeviling camps that spawn (last hits count). First team to kill 11 camps wins. The whistle allows you to change into a Greevil with random abilities (or preset ones if you have your greevil courier equipped). Everyone levels the same/Avoid picking invis units...Necrolyte for easy last hit steals (his ulti does percentage based damage allowing you to last hit earlier than anyone else can).

Ah okay. Got a few hints from a guy too about if you are low health try to flute it up to switch to greev.

I don't even remember who I played with specifically but I know it was some mix of Yuber, Milkman, Haly, Bzm and others.

Definitely can't be any of these people. Also Milkman is one of the nicest "older" players there are on gaf and he's always playing with new players.

I'm not saying everyone raged at me or anything like that but from others I gathered that the whole IHL was kind of unfun for everyone who wasn't part of the HoN GAF inner circle.

Yubes is a given, milk is an absolute 'no', haly doesnt talk, and I didn't play a single match. But ok bro.

Yea ends tomorrow, chances of seeing him are rare but possible. But even when you kill him you still need to get lucky to get a golden greevil, you mostly just get an extra present.

Does gold greev appear on ice? I had that happen my 2nd game of the event just tonight.

Just had a 5v2 game...so the other team had a guy just talk shit the entire time calling us unskill trash.

GO go moba community!

I've played enough DotA and League of Legends to know I'm absolutely shit at these games even compared to people of roughly the same skill level as me. I don't have the skills/aggressive knowledge to be a good carry player. I say this to note that this is why I liked the idea of playing in an IHL. I think I'm smart enough to play support decently and I find that satisfying as long as I'm playing with people who communicate and are fun to play with.

I think some people like me came into IHL expecting casual fun/learning and a chance to play with people who might be a little friendlier than pubs, and some people were treating the games like they were the finals of the International. Maybe in the future the best option would be to separate things out? Let the salt house crowd have their games, and let scrub tier players like me have another game where we can fail Ravages without someone telling us we are dumpster babies.

But see unless you can remember specific instances or offenders it doesn't really get us anywhere. Every game I captained or played in, the whole team was pretty friendly aside from people getting mad at themselves or feeling like they failed or something. We'd always try to give constructive criticism or hero tips to players, but I think one of the huge issues is many newbies mistook getting crushed = people flaming me. IHL sucked sometimes, I was on the receiving end of some uneven games, but never in any game I played in was someone singled out or flamed.

The two offenders I know of are Yuber and 109 (109 means well and tries to give constructive criticism, but sometimes the heat of the game will make him rage or blurt out). Yuber is another case entirely, I suggest you just put him on ignore. Same deal with 109 if you can't stand him, we've already told him to prematurely mute himself for IHL 2 ;).

I guarantee you 90% of the people who played IHL are friendlier than pubs, but I think the couple negative peeps are the ones that really affected you more than anything.

It's not the Golden Greevil that comes, it's the Shopkeeper Greevil, and he spawns either on top or bot of the river, and then skates to the other side on the ice. He's pretty easy to kill. The game will tell you when he spawns with a big picture and music playing so it's pretty obvious.

Were you skilled?

Well when it's 5 of them and 2 of us, all the skill in the world won't matter. We had idlers and I'm 100% fresh to the game. So no I'm not skilled. :P

Yup I had that happen alright. :D

:( Is it a common thing to have idlers and people who quit in greeviling?

I had to just control me and 2 other heroes to win a game. ; ; 1 guy never made it and wasn't controllable, and the other team mate would just pop in once in a while to die in a stupid way.

Stop playing greeviling, especially if you're new. Mode is bad, and although it's good for giving you experience with items and heroes, it doesn't give you any feel for the flow of a normal game. It's just like learning dota1 in -em, all it does is stagnate you, even if it feels easier.

I was just playing it to get items, especially since it ends tomorrow.

Any hero wins in pillow queue
Pretty much, warlock/tree/meepo are the three heroes on who it's challenging to win with,a dota 2 very hard mode so to speak. Everyone else is viable. In MM most of the time it's the team with superior teamwork/play that wins not the better heroes, it's rare that you get people with a coherent draft and if they can pull that off and you're alone you're prob fucked either way.

Are you sure it isn't the level where people think they are good as opposed to the actual highest level?

So, in a way it gets better.
Well, you can just look at the games on the top page/popular stacks that have pro players in them. People don't scumbag pick AP that often on US servers.

I mean I'm used to 2-3 on each team randoming and then the last people just pick heroes so you don't have absolute trash lanes. No one usually complains.
However, people who are worse, but think they're good, are a lot more prone to complain when someone gets a bad hero.

edit: fucking gullin

2nd day of Dota 2:

I've been playing with WindRunner for the past few games. Decided to try and play on easy with bot matchmaking, but after finding out the game was all of my teammates' first, with most having never even glanced at a tutorial and suffering a terrible death, I decided to up the stakes and try going for medium bot difficulty. Surprisingly, won 2 games and no one yelled at me too harshly. Victory?

Not saying its impossible for you to win on certain heroes, just that picking some heroes first is asking for some big counter picks (brood -> kotl/es, meepo -> lion, huskar -> aa/necrolyte).

Its not a big deal, just kind of annoying when you want to play stupid fun heroes.

That's when you don't give a fuck and show them who's the fucking pro!

Pillow, can I ask you what the logic was to skipping Scream of Pain the entire game?

I hope he went rank 1 ss and blink and statted, going linkens skadi for that old school kiting action.

that actually doesn't work anymore as ss rank 1 doesn't have full slow =(

Lmao, that was massive fail. What I wanted to do was to go a single target dps build, since the enemy team had so much shit to counter my blink, but... I ended up getting zero farm so the build backfired. I was actually hitting pretty hard from all those stats+extra agi, but it wasn't really better than having the scream burst, may have paid off if i had managed to get my first dps item, i'm not sure though. Actually, another thing that factored into me going that build was that I was so behind on levels from roaming with qop, I was worried that i'd hit the diminishing returns on scream before i'd manage to max it.

Sometimes I like to try things to try things, and sometimes it goes very very wrong.

Caved and bought 3 unusual essences off the market, so I'll have a fancy orange greevil now. I hope those people enjoy the ~$4.50 they each got from me. Never had any drop for me and I didn't end up playing that much Greeviling anyway. More economical this way than to grind for hours. Wasn't as fun as Diretide was to me (and that got boring fast as well).

Probably the cheapest way to have an unusual courier, especially over any one you would have to unbox. Really would like an unusual wardog someday though.

There hasn't been a Windrunner treasure chest yet has there? I would open a few of those. One of the fancy new bows with a double shackles unusual modifier would be nice.

Let Skeleton King farm freely for 25mins. Then blame teammates for being noobs and lose game in one push. The power of pubs.

I'm gonna see how long I can get away as SK. Since he's not picked in tourneys, people think nothing of him and let him farm. Then wonder why their Anti Mage is down in 3 hits.

The cool thing about SK is you can just go to your own jungle relatively early if you don't want to deal with harassment from the other team. So even if they want to annoy you, they have to go and find you and hope your team isn't around.

Here's my last two games messing around with SK in jungle early in the game.

thats some bullshit, met him only fucking once pretty sure both chest were essences.
