Still learning and playing bots. LOVING Pugna. What is the group consensus about him? Any good?

I can see trying to hit with his nuke that doesn't track being a big skill for him, but I totally loved using him.

Nether Ward and His Ulti seem fucking awesome. I really enjoyed playing him.

I love that little green bastard. Nether Ward is a pain in the ass for the enemy spellcasters and usually they can't waste time to destroy it, especially in teamfights. If you can get the Aghanim's Sceptre, his ulti becomes totally ridiculous. If you get focused, you'll still die in no time, but usually they'll have bigger guys to kill. He's one of the heroes I want to practice more, I still forget to use Decrepify most of the times.

Um, I'm not getting my hopes up too much even though it is likely that we'll atleast get troll.

I do think we'll get the ingame overlay for community guides at the very least.

Bristleback would be entertaining, I think all tree ent had before he was put in was some low res textures and particles, so its possible he would be put in.

I really want all of it, but once we have everything, we won't have anything to look forward to every week anymore, since new heroes will only be every like 3/4/5 months then. And all features will be in already.

Really hoping achievements come in soon, and that the 1000 games one is retroactive lol.
 
Too bad people voted for public dotabuff rating, I think that's the wrong decision.
However, it seems that they put the business in front of that poll, require people to register to see their own rating and pay to see other people's rating.
 
If it's going to be public then hopefully it's part of their Pro service, they could always just show the league people are in I guess. Wonder what other features they're going to add for their Pro service, can't really think of anything else that is missing.

Valve will add a ton of stuff though. Cosmetics, contests, tournaments, new heroes, events, new modes etc. It will probably be like TF2 where there will be technical updates each week but they build up to major events that are zomg awesome. Diretide and Frostivus are just holiday events, just imagine the REAL big updates.

I have faith that Valve will not let a site like Dotabuff destroy their community. Just report people for text harassment if they whine about your DBR. Valve will get the message.

It was 70+% not long ago.
I blame recent (re)additions to the party. (still have 70% with lollie :/)


Also I think Valve will introduce some kind of visible MMR system of their own if DBR really becomes an issue or a threat (unlikely). Probably just personally viewable, or at least visible brackets.
It was also always bound to happen too, the community is too competetive, someone was always going to try and DIY it.
 
Guys, you already can see everyone's win rates. Comparing win rates is similar to comparing K/D ratings, there's so many variables in the game and the matches you play that it's a very small part of the whole story. This upcoming DBR rating will be a better measurement than win rate to be perfectly honest. The only thing that matters for DBR is whether you lost or won, and whom you played with and whom you lost to. Honestly, I don't expect it to be perfect but I'm personally stoked to see how people are ranked!

Yeah you can just go to their steam profile then copy and paste.

Eh I think a lot of it is rooted in who you're playing against. If you're consistently playing what DBR thinks are 1850 players, then you are going to be 1850, it doesn't matter whether you selected newbie, experienced, or very experienced, it's not trying be valve MMR to the tee.
 
Valve will add a ton of stuff though. Cosmetics, contests, tournaments, new heroes, events, new modes etc. It will probably be like TF2 where there will be technical updates each week but they build up to major events that are zomg awesome. If they start everyone at 1500 then it's not going to be accurate, as Valve might start people at 1000, 1200, 1500. With DBR win a game and you might be 1550, but actually you should be like 1050.

It's obviously better than nothing, but I don't see how it can be that accurate when they don't know how Valve is doing things.

I thought they were just arbitrary points on the normal distribution (just like the bronze, silver, etc are in the dbr system)
 
And yeah, I don't know about the rest of you guys, but nothing seemed to faze me in that game. Like I tripped and fell into Dota zen.

I was pretty fazed at the beginning. I was hugging my tower but they were harassing me so bad I didn't know what to do. Tranquil Boots helped a little but by then I had already fed them several kills.

If only it were as easy as that! The Slardar/VS lane fed Zeus like crazy (Slardar got sprint first), and Omni bitched at me because I asked him to buy wards (I bought wards at the very beginning as Timber). What's sad is that the Drow on the other team wasn't even very good, we could have probably had a close match.

That VS with the Russian name was so goddamn annoying. And yeah their Drow wasn't that good; I held my ground in mid with relative ease, despite the fact that I had never gone mid before. If top lane hadn't fed that Zeus out the ass then we probably would have won. He got a quick Scepter and Refresher Orb so for 2/3rds of the game he was nuking our whole team to 1/4 HP.

When they say they are accurate I don't think they mean the literally mmr numbers of it. Also Valves system is supposed to find an accurate rating quite quickly, after so many games. I assume DBR does something similar.

They can take guesses as to how accurate their system is by looking at games that are getting matched up by Valves system and see if their system has all those players at a similar level that would be matched up.

When youve got so many games/people I guess they could of tried many systems and saw which aligned better with the record of valves mm system.
 
So is the Dotabuff voting over and public MMR won? If so, that's going to suck. I can see people dodging at connections because of teammate MMR.

Its just my guess that picking a tier starts you at a different mmr. I dont know how the system actually works but thats what i would figure.

Oh, ok, thought you were talking about mid/high/v. high. So I would guess you're right, it would make sense if the starting options would create additional peaks.
 
You know what would be cool?

If Dota2 showed which team was favored in the way that SCII matchmaking does.

Just so that people will know if they should bullshit around and random, or if they should put their game faces on with their best heroes.

I'm not so sure that would be for the best in Dota 2 (unless there's a public MMR). SC2 is typically a 1v1 situation, where usually you're just going to try anyway. In Dota 2 it's team-oriented, and it could breed that defeatist attitude from the start if the other team is "highly favored".

- Added completion cost to shop item tooltips, displayed if the player has one or more components.
- Added tooltips to the shop category buttons.
- Fixed the Repick option disappearing too soon.
- Fixed bug where buffs would sometimes display an incorrect duration sweep.
- Bringing up the combat log will now hide the killcam.
- Fixed bug where sometimes spectators would, when inspecting a player, not see thier cosmetic items.
- Fixed bug where Dota 2 would not track changes in the Windows default audio device.
- When spectating a game in directed, hero chase, or player view, the mouse will no longer be locked to the window.

STORE
- Added new item sets for Lone Druid and Necrolyte.

BOTS
- Added Necrolyte bot.
- Added Witch Doctor bot.
- Sven will no longer War Cry when doing a casual retreat.
- Fixed Viper bot not harassing with his unique attack modifier.
- Fixed bug in Sandstorm avoidance that always made bots maximalliy avoid it.
- Adjusted the values so that bots are more willing to tanking creeps at high health/tankability ratings.
- Bots now take into account cleaving when determining what neutral camps they're willing to farm.
- Death Prophet bot will now use Carrion Swarm more when laning.
- Fixed bug that would cause bots to fountain-dive sometimes.

WORKSHOP
- Added a "Show Low-Res Model" checkbox that toggles between showing the low & high resolution LODs for imported models when in Loadout camera view.
- Now automatically switches to showing low-res models in the Day/Night camera views, and high-res models in the Portrait camera view (since that's how they're used by the game).
- Fixed "Other" submission type displaying a "failed to find content file" when submitting.
- Fixed Preview not resetting background properly when moving from Portrait to Day/Night view.
- Fixed Preview losing hero rotation when going to and from Portrait view.
- Fixed a case where the Add Wearable slot buttons didn't work for some slots on some heroes (like Sven).
