That isn't a patch, that is an Item Schema change. You couldn't tell a subtitle script from a set of response rules. Clearly you have never played TF2.

Don't be silly that is patch code for item scheme changes son and I did play TF2 back when it was hat free and good.

Lion has a versatile move set that includes stuns, disables, mana regen and a powerful ult.

Lich is good because you can just cast frost armor on everyone to be loved, plus he has a great ult.

Crystal Maiden is another good support character and since she's so easily killed, everyone suspects that you will die a lot do no one will complain when you do.

If you don't like support and just want to kill people, Axe is an excellent choice. He can take a lot of damage and dish it out, and by the end of the game it will take their entire team to kill you.

For a beginner to DOTA 2, is Batrider a good champ to play? I hear he's pretty badass and consistent throughout the entire game. If so, what should I build him with?

Bat is strong, but probably not the best beginner hero. You can screw yourself over spamming napalm (sup 109), Flamebreak is a skillshot that requires a bit of practice to hit, Firefly has a really long cooldown and Lasso requires you to be in melee range to use.

If you do play him go Lasso > Napalm > Firefly > Flamebreak with skills. Item wise you want to typically have Blink Dagger be your first core item and your other items will are flexible (popular choices are Vanguard, Drums, Pipe, Shiva's, Force Staff, etc).

In the laning phase you will want to be a bully, spamming Napalm and poking the enemy. Be wary if the enemy has a Magic Stick/Wand because they will get free HP/MP every time you cast Napalm. During teamfights you blink in, lasso the highest priority target, and drag him back to the team so he gets picked off.

Not necessarily. It varies from situation to situation, but you typically want to focus heroes who can greatly influence a teamfight (Enigma, Tidehunter, etc) and kill them off before they have a chance to cast their spells.

God damn a Fed Viper shuts down Huskar so damn hard. Viper just screws Huskar on so many counts if you can keep him from getting a BKB. His passive does more damage when Huskar is low, which is when he does more damage, and his other three skills all lower attack speed, there is no way to take him out without BKB if he has any clue what he is doing. Should of gotten that before Armlet.

Yeah he's a natural counter, as well as necrolyte.

I don't think huskar is that good, all it takes is some cc or burst to kill him.

He was really good when they first patched him in though, there was hardly any counters to him.

gotta learn how to kill steal, bro. and stay just outside of the main fights and shoot. use your range to your advantage and hope they don't decide to focus you.

Yeah, he's probably a hero that does better in pubs, ironically enough. The bots are really good at swapping and melting sniper (and I didn't have any reliable initiation/tank to distract them for the fight).

Also, I was always so close to getting assassinate kills. I keep forgetting heroes have a natural magic resistance.

We random alchemist, pick some heroes, other team waits until we pick all our heroes. Waits until past 0:00, picks naix/invoker, then starts acting like its no pick deal. Needless to say we lose late because alchemist gets chomped through by naix in 5 seconds, and we can't burst naix down because alchemist gives him a billion health every time naix hits him. They need to force picks by a certain time.

Concede also needs to be put in the game. Yes there's games that are comebacks, there's also games that dragon on for 40 minutes because the other team doesn't want to push and just farms.

I generally avoid AP for this and a couple of other reasons (so tired of seeing Ursas). I'm really enjoying captain's mode, though for matchmaking it takes forever for a match to be found. Otherwise, I try and stick to SD or the new RD.

Mek, phase, wards, and a bracer or two is all you really need. Positioning is key with his ults. Other than that, do the support dance.

Generally you will be a ward bitch unless you are getting lots of kills, then you can get a Mekanism and push a lot. Start out by getting courier and 1 or 2 wards depending on the lane (if hard lane, buy 2 to block the pull), and some sticks and regen. Upgrade courier asap so your mid can get a quick bottle. Usually you want to keep wards on cooldown and place them appropriately. First items should get is a Boots upgrade, Power Treads or Tranquil Boots (if you're roaming alot). Then concentrate on getting Mek ASAP. If you had to build a bracers early game, consider upgradin them to Drums lately.

Pipe, Urn are great mid-to-late games, since they're helping your team to be more tanky, and to visit fountain less frequent. You can always make Aghanim's Scepter if you're doing great. Very nice lategame item.

For his abilities, level your nuke and mana skill almost always (Dark Rital first, deny a creep at 0:00). You can continually harass by comboing your nuke and then denying a full hp creep, and this really annoys enemies. Get your shield skill later in the game to use on your team (prioritize your carries usually). Your ultimate is VERY powerful, especially early and mid game, and it's very simple to use. Works great w synergy w Void's / Enigma's ultimates.

So I'm currently working on the OT2 and have been thinking about how to approach it. I figure most people look at the OP of this thread once and never touch it again, and newbies also never want to browse through that massive list for information. I think I'll be throwing out a lot of it and compressing the thread into something viewable in three to five mouse scrolls to make things easier on the viewer. Basically streamlining the whole thing.

1. Huge emphasis on helping newbies with easy access to guides, hero choices, and where to start (as I think the players new to the beta are most likely to look to the OP for help). I'll also be correcting what heroes belong in what category.
2. Spotlight on whoever is the newest hero

Any thoughts on what else needs to be in the OT (if anything)?

If we could create a nice, maybe even comprehensive guide for noobs it would be real good. Especially when this goes Open Beta it would be ace to have a section of the OP people can just go look at. Maybe have some basic stuff written into it. Or just have links to all the beginners guides and so on.
I do like the idea of condensing everything, but I think it would be ok to, maybe after that first post, have a big post dedicated to helping new players.

Also Milk, if you want any more art/stuff done for OT2 just pm me, or catch me on steam. I think I still have all the files from everything.
 
4 times now I've been dced for no reason (everything on my end seems to be fine otherwise), and then it doesn't let me reconnect when I try. It even let me spectate the game I dced from, but not properly reconnect. It's really frustrating.
