Dragon Ball FighterZ - Characters, Specials, and Stages Discussion

It's impossible for 17 to not make the roster

Piccolo is on the roster and his most popular attack was used in a fight WITH Android 17

And 17 is currently top in the 3-4 most powerful characters in Super, which is airing now

I always wondered can the androids get stronger? Like can 17 and 18 train to get stronger or are they just at their level always because they are half mechanical.

He didnt say U7.

I won't argue that 17 won't be in, but Piccolo having Hellzone Grenade doesn't really mean anything. He's also got Special Beam Cannon, but that doesn't mean we'll get Radditz. Also, Krillin has that attack he used against the Saibamen, but they're probably not in either.

They're also half biological, so they can get stronger. 17 getting close to Goku's level in DBS is proof of that. In fact, they could train endlessly since their stamina/ki reserves are endless (something that 17 capitalized on in his training).

Nope.

All Gods of destruction and their angels are stronger. That's 24 right there.
Oh, I was thinking of the fighters.

Yeah.... I'll believe that when I see it.

So far no character revealed demonstrates that design. Right now two of the strongest point characters also have probably the strongest assists revealed so far,(Vegeta and Frieza) while Gohan is probably the weakest point character and assist atm despite being described as a huge damage dealer.

So far every character (with gameplay footage) could be described as a top-tier point character. Not the ones who would be balanced that way.

And, FYI, most of their assists look bad or at least very limited from a mix-up perspective, which tracks with that statement.

I'm not sure if this is the best path to go with, especially since like many mentioned Frieza is great at both. Those support characters need something amazing in order to be pick.

Depends on how the games ultimately works.

Captain Commando, Psylocke and Cyclops were mediocre characters in Marvel 2 when they were in-play, but all saw play because they countered something AND had great assists.

Ahh I see, have not watched any of Super yet, but I guess people are digging it, might start it.

I have a feeling we're going to get Super characters either as day 1 DLC or as the first DLC within a month or so of launch.

Universe 6 pack: Hit, Caulifla and Kale. Lets go.

Frost would be a good way to get Form 1 Freeza in with Form 3 as a super attack. He'd also have poison moves so he'd have some unique gameplay.

Take my advice, watch the recent two movies (Battle of Gods & Resurrection F) & skip to Episode 28 of Super. Most of Episodes 1-27 are movie recaps.

The episodes inbetween the movies are really good for expanding the plot and branching z and the movies.

Basically this:
Super Eps 1 & 2, then Battle of Gods Uncut
Super Eps 15, 16, 17, & 18, then Resurrection F
Then skip to Episode 28 of Super and watch from there.

The dub has just started Champa arc, so you should be able to watch in this order pretty naturally. It's the best way to watch these episodes. The small bits exclusive to the tv show won't really be a problem and you'll overall be fine. The movies are a better viewing experience. Episodes 1 and 2 put you right where Battle of Gods begins and Episode 18 ends right before Ressurection F starts. It works super well and gets you to the good episodes much faster. (The between movies episodes i listed are all good episodes too. it was just the actual adaptions specifically where the quality fell like a rock)

For the record, 17 and 18 are entirely organic, not half mechanical.

I don't even know why they're called Androids. They barely qualify as a traditional cyborg. At least Gero and Tao replaced most if not all of their bodies with mechanical parts.

Because their name is Artificial humans. Which they are. Gohan in Super clarified their situations by stating they were modified on a cellular level and were basically super humans.

Gero had started his "artificial humans" which included both robots and human experiences, decades ago. They translated it into android and the name just carried over.

That makes more sense. Just calling them Androids confuse me a bit.

you're crazy if you think that. Frieza's assist is insane rn. Vegeta's assist is cold star which locks characters down so they're forced to deal with your mixup lol

If these are bad assists I can't wait to see good ones!!

The pattern you describe is only present in the game if you really want to see it. If you hadn't been told to view the game that way by this interview you'd never draw these conclusions

The Japanese 'jinzo ningen' (人造人間) directly translates to artificial human, but includes androids, cyborgs, robots, etc. as long as it resembles a human. So it works as a catch all label for all of them in Japanese, but made it a bit hard for the translators.

It's still complete shit to waste characters in a limited roster to be only good at counter picking or for one useful assist and that's it.

Hope we don't see any of that.

I don't think Arc would go into the character assuming they'd be a counter. That's just how it would potentially fall. The hope is that all characters would be viable, but we'll see.

All I'm saying is I don't buy the idea that they're making characters intentionally that are bad on point but good as assists.

Based on there being no evidence of that in the game's current form, and that that idea is just stupid as hell to begin with.

Dear god if this game was around when I was a kid I would play the shit out of it. Instead I have had to play the shit out of Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout lol

I feel this. None of my friends were really into traditional fighters, so I always got them to play me in like 3 games of Ultimate Battle 22 or Final Bout before they were like "yup, I'm bored I'm going home now" and I had to play it by myself.

Honestly, I can't imagine that they would literally make every single God of Destruction a playable character. Would be funny to have a team with a yellow mouse, a clown and a pink elephant fighting on the same team, but that would be overkill to try and do 22- Gods and Angels (minus one God each time Goku & Gohan gets a universe erased) in this roster.

I could see them trying to do it for Xenoverse, but DBFZ?

Hell, I don't think we've seen half the Gods even throw one punch yet even at this point (Or at least I think so unless if we count the Pink elephant slapping the failures of Universe 10 over the head repeatably with his Trunk. I can say at least five have, but I'm not entirely sure of the other seven).

not this because, well you couldnt make this back then.

but you could make something like that fanmade game those brazilian cats are (were?) making, and it never happened >_<
