DRAGON BALL FighterZ - Trunks Reveal Trailer

So if the beta is going to be 9 characters, and loking that they were trying to balance heroes villains my guess is that they will release a villain and someone neutral.

Like Black and Beerus for example.
If I had to guess I'd say Piccolo and Beerus. Beerus is *kind of* villain territory like Majin Buu.

The sword fighting doesn't sit well with me. Just looks weird having sword fighters go up against hand to hand combat.

Hasn't it been pretty obvious Super characters would be in once we saw Gold Frieza? I mean I know it's technically originally from the movies but it's a big part of Super too.

I think the only obvious character is Beerus. We don't know how deep into Super they're going.

It's a question of not how if they'll get in, but how many? For me, sticking with Beerus, Hit, and Goku Black. But there is always the chance that only Beerus would make it for some weird reason.

Well, one of them is an evolution, and the other is the same Android 17 from the end of Dragon Ball Z.

Evolution as a character doesn't work like Pokemon

Its not a matter of if, it's a matter of "how many?" This game started development in the middle of the Goku Black arc, so we don't know if they were able to add stuff up to that point or if they were only able to get characters up to Revival F

I don't think they'll go any deeper than that. One character from each major Super arc, and the most recent arc isn't done yet.

Evolution, as in development. Most of Super's characters are in arrested development, including Android 17. He hasn't evolved at all since we last saw him In Z. 'But he has a family' - in the background. Despite that he's the same character he was.

Like, Videl has evolved. Who else?

You answered your own question. His form was a DBZ movie character first so it's "technically" not a Super character. Also Trunk's hair isn't helping the Super argument (key word "helping").

Yea that's my thinking. Also we haven't really seen much from the newer characters anyways.

I guess. When you think about it though, it's pretty dumb for their mindset to be "Oh we'll stop right where the movies are, and go literally no further than that." Like what sense does that really make, where they count characters like Beerus as technically not being a part of Super lol

Everything past the Buu arc is basically Post-DBZ/Super as far as I'm concerned.

Extreme Butoden was a Z game as well and it has stuff from GT and Super in it.

And Black and Super's version of Trunks are in the extended version of RoF

I don't see the point of the semantics some people make (not necessarily on this page). Sure, BoG and RoF are technically DBZ movies. But it's not like they're going to ignore the widely successful Dragon Ball Super whether you like the characters/story or not.

beerus and SSB are all DBZ, they're from the movies

but i still see some super characters like hit coming!

This is pretty semantic.

The movies are non-canon and were re-written and re-produced as the first 30 episodes of Super. Beerus is absolutely a Dragon Ball Super character.

Just feels weird. I can suspend my disbelief that super strong punches are just like regular punches for these guys but a full powered sword attack should cut off a limb.
We are watching a show that revolves around super strong aliens solving all their problems by fist fighting but the introduction of a sword is the one thing that breaks the "realism" for you?

Goku
Vegeta
Gohan
Trunks
Gotenks
Frieza
Cell
Buu
Piccolo
Krillin
Tien
Android 17
Android 18
Beerus
Jiren*
Goku Black*
Hit*

Who else would make it in? Asterisk means possible but doubtful IMO.

They need to get at least 1 DB rep in there. They already shot down Tao Pai Pai (dammit), so maybe Yamcha or Roshi?

Roshi would be good because, he's unique,he can cover both OG dragon ball and the current relevant fighters in super so it would be a shame of he and (and 17) didn't make it

lol get out.

Because they watched a couple of old Super episode 5 memes on Facebook and convinced themselves that's the whole show and no one can tell them otherwise
Watched every episode, but god beware someone doesn't gulp down every shit that is served to them. Fantastic posts by both of you.

Animation isn't even the problem anymore, the artstyle itself, the digital coloring and the writing of certain characters are atrocious.

And so far every counter 'argument' to my opinion is by some idiots who claim 'you didn't watch it' 'get out'. Don't get personally offended if someone doesn't like your favorite new anime as much as you.

We really saying those clips look bad? Even the
Freeza vs Goku
? Really??

Not sure what part of the Freeza vs Goku that's supposed to be impressive? It isn't the 3-12 seconds part, which is just a very low amount of frames being looped back and forth rapidly. It also isn't the entire later half othe clip, where pretty much nothing happens.

Sure, Super has some decent animation here and there, but as this is a Toei show, that is the exception rather than norm.

Since DB Super spent the first 30 episodes or so adapting the movies, changing some stuff in the process. Same thing is probably going to happen to the Boruto movie soon as well, Boruto manga already changed it and the anime will follow suit.
You can argue the movies are more canon considering Toriyama was directly involved in those. There's nothing that suggests he had any input in the changes they made for the show.
