I hope we never see Gine and Bardock in this show. I'm not a fan of the significant retcon the Saiyans received in Dragon Ball Minus.

There would be no real reason to show them, so I don't think you have to worry about that. The only pre-Dragon Ball flash backs we might see would probably be Beerus or Jaco related.

Pilaf is the only reason Frieza comes back.

So I'd really, really, REALLY, like to see them try writing him off battle of gods.

I should have rephrase it better. I am referring to the "wish to turn them into kids" portion in BOG which you pointed out. Not including the ROF portion (though its not that hard to change how Frieza's guys gather the balls anyway).

Its been a running gag that they just should up suddenly in their pursuit of the dragon balls after the first arc in DB. They only appeared (in proper condition) in 1 episode of GT, which set up the whole "Goku turning young" thing. Even if they shows up, I don't think they'll spend too much time on them.

but man dragon ball is back

We should be talking about the REAL power level update: Money.

Bulma's family is apparently richer than the Satan family.

Dude. Satan saves the world. Capsule Corp OWNS the world. Satan ain't shit

Seriously.

Want vehicles (any kind)? Capsule Corp
Want houses? Capsule Corp
Want storage? That's their core business, so again Capsule Corp
Want spacecraft? Capsule Corp
Infrastructure? Capsule Corp
Robotics? Capsule Corp
Time machines? Capsule Corp
Clothing? Capsule Corp

Bardock seems to get a lot of use in the video games (DB Online, DB Xenoverse, DB Heroes, etc.). I don't think he will appear in DB Super as it would just be confusing to have different versions of the same character in multiple continuities.

No he isn't, Freeza's men are, it was just convenient that he had already collected 6 of the balls and had a radar.
If they write him out of BoG they could still keep him in F, just say that they are getting the balls to wish for riches, simple.

We're not exchanging opinions here. I'm stating the facts from the movies.

The soldiers literally say "We can not locate the Nameks anywhere.... Earth is our only solution, but Goku and his friends are the only ones able to locate the dragon balls..." and then another soldier points out "Actually... Someone else has a radar, they are not the only ones". Remember they couldn't do anything on Namek.

Pilaf is a mandatory part. Mai also mentions dating Trunks, their whole dialogues have BOG references, and they have a pretty funny moment. There is no way in hell they cut that out.

The BoG and F arcs are likely to feature a good amount of rewriting and reworking, so the pacing of the movie is pretty irrelevant.
Besides, F's run time is 93 minutes, 4 episodes would total 80 minutes and that would be for the invasion proper, all the stuff before the fighting starts could be reworked in the two episodes before it.

The "main fight" was easily the worst part of the movie, everything else was downright amazing. Pretty sure they are not going to focus on the fight.

All the Z warriors getting their moments to shine will shine. It's not going to be about Goku only.

Again, the BoG and F arcs aren't just going to be the movies cut up into episodes, they're going to be completely new animated adaptations, so what happens in the movie is completely irrelevant. If they cut Pilaf and his gang from BoG they can still be there for F and they don't need to be kids.

I didn't say the main fight, I said the invasion and "the fighting", that includes the rest of the gang fighting random goons.
But again, you need to realize that the BoG and F arcs aren't just going to be the animation from the movies cut into episodes.

I wonder if the writers had any influence from TFS? I'd wager not, but that Roshi scene definitely felt TFS to me. Lol

Yeah, i felt that way too, but that's how he always been. He wanted to give a away a legendary fan only for an opportunity of touching Bulmas Breast

Context for Jaco's back story since I doubt the majority of Super's audience will have read that manga. I'm afraid they'll use that opportunity to retcon the original TV special.

The thing is, they don't need to show Minus for that, they would only need to show stuff from the actual Jaco manga.

Making Goku a farmer just brought him that much closer to being Japanese Superman
Now Resurrected Frieza just needs to say, "Doko de tatakau koto o manabimashita ka? Fāmu?"

no retconning because the tv special wasnt made by Toriyama ;)

considering piccolo was like the baby sitter for Pan ih that Frieza movie, he's not creepy at all, he's just out of the loop with the whole romance thing being asexual and all

Tried to watch this but the JP voices were hampering my enjoyment (especially Goku obv). I hope there's a dub announcement too. Despite my complaint it's hard not to watch it even when I know I'll enjoy it more dubbed.

I love how cute it is that Goku actually spent the entire day with Goten and even asked him to tell him what he's been up to. And then Goten makes a plan for Goku to go and train. They're really great together.

We already knew Dr Briefs was the richest man on the planet. His company pretty much supplies all the fuckin technology for the planet.

It's true. This monopoly must be stop. I must see the King immediately.

They best treasure those money, since chichi is planning to use the money to send goten to school now

Wait, so in the first chapter why is
Beerus awake
?
In BoG, wasn't he
in some sort of sleeping state? IIRC, he had been like that for a huge amount of time
. I may be mistaken though (also I haven't watched Resurrection of Frieza).
Also I liked the chapter. Animation and drawing quality is kinda meh at times but wasn't expecting otherwise.
And I meant to ask this as well: Is the current plot on the manga?

Super is doing a retelling of BOG. Seems we have to forget everything we saw in BOG.

It's a retcon.
And no, for Super the anime supercedes the manga, which is being written by someone else.

Basically yes, but there's a tiny difference: In the manga
the food on that alien planet is actually poisoned and when the poison doesn't work the aliens try to attack Beerus, who destroys the entire planet in response as opposed to just half of it in the anime

Loved it. Haven't been up to date on what's gone on in Dragon Ball with the more recent movies so surprised to see the purple rabbit thing from one of those movies.

Anyway, It's just great to see these characters again.

Opening is great. I love Yoshii Kazuya/Lovin so it's awesome to see him tied to the show. Maybe it doesn't pump me up like the previous intros but it's good. And the ending theme is pretty catchy too.

Yep. It's probably safe to say that as of now, DB canon consists solely of the following:

Jaco the Galactic Patrolman
Dragon Ball (manga)
Dragon Ball Super (TV)

And that's it.

If the two movies are going to be arcs then how many episodes are they going to consume.

I mean right now we are pre BoG by quiet a while right?

so did I watch a bad translation or did Beerus destroy that planet because the food had fat in it? Or is it the same as the manga and they tried to poison him?

I think about a year (in story) pre BoG

I don't know if it's nostalgia talking, but I enjoyed that. It'll be interesting to see what the weekly wait for a Dragon Ball episode feels like, considering I missed it when the DBZ was in its heyday.

Next episode looks hysterical by the way. I already wanna see Chris Sabat and Lanipator do their thing on it.
