Dragon Ball Super |OT| To Go Even Further Beyond Filler
Also does anyone think it's possible a dub hasn't happened because Funimation wouldn't want to run a redo of the two movies?

Nah, its just Toei being stingy atm. I'm not worried we will get Super eventually but we still got Buu Saga Kai to get done with.

So, I just read Toyble/Toyotarō's AF doujin and it's... not horrible? Like, I expected it to be horrible because it's AF but it isn't? I mean it's dumb, and bringing back

and the whole Xicor thing is stupid as all get out, but the art is good, and the story was kinda interesting?

Kinda wish it was finished. I mean, I can see why they hired Toyotarō to do the new Dragon Ball comics.

Well, Cell is stronger than the Ginyu Force too, so Tagoma being stronger than the former would automatically make him stronger than the latter.

And no one in Frieza's crew know anything about Cell or androids, so the Ginyu force is their highest non-Frieza point of reference for power levels.

Unless I'm reading it wrong, are you saying Tagoma is stronger than (Perfect?) Cell? If Tagoma is indeed stronger than Perfect Cell, than that just proves my point that the power scales are all out of whack in this particular series.

Let's think about it for a bit. Tagoma, prior to training with Freeza, was apparently below the Ginyu Force in power (for reference, let's use Captain Ginyu in his original body). So in 4 or so months of being Freeza's personal punching bag, he went from somewhere below Captain Ginyu to being stronger than Perfect Cell?

That is an insane increase in power in such a short time, no matter how you cut it.

"How is ______ so strong?"

"But..."

"He trained"

"That still doesn't make any..."

"He trained"

"But if you calculate how strong _____ was then..."

"He trained"

There you go.

And the inverse is true for Gohan.

"Why is Gohan a fuccboi?"

"He didn't train."

"But-"

"HE DIDN'T TRAIN"

Uh oh. We're talking power levels again.

I forget where that is in the cycle. What's next?

Haha, honestly, it's just this particular part that's weird to me. It's just a weird change from the movie version to the TV version.

I've accepted weird shit happening in DB, but I still occasionally scratch my head in response to the writing.

I liked young jiji's art and (stupid) story more. Check that out.

Well a quick glace at the DBZ wiki says Goku's power level went from about 32,000 (fighting Vegeta on Earth) to 150 million (Super Saiyan) in a little under 2 months, so it's not like massive power jumps in a short amount of time are anything new.

You should check out Multiverse too. It's actually not bad.

True, true. Although you have to remember, Goku wasn't at that power the entire time while fighting Vegeta, it was when using Kaioken x4, which was a temporary power up that lasted seconds at most. But that's beside the point.

I'm more surprised that a nobody like Tagoma, who was at best around Zarbon and Dodoria level before training, is suddenly this super villain who became more powerful than even Freeza originally was after just a few months of training.

That kind of power-up is something I can expect from a shounen manga main character at best! :P

Hey give them credit, Freeza and Tagoma are the only villains in db that have trained
Saiyans probably all trained. A lot.

You guys want to talk wasted potential? Fucking Raditz. Main character's older brother and he's not even an important villain. Exists for three to five episodes. I guess he is Gohan's uncle, but still.

I doubt any Saiyans trained most of them probably used the full moon to wipe out planets and they didn't learn to sense power levels and such.

They were like Freeza and just used the powers they were given and born with to destroy stuff and gained more power by abusing Zenkais.

Not that it's going to happen ever, but: those who don't mind Tagoma's powerup, would you have a problem with Gohan surpassing Goku/Vegeta with two days of training? Just in the normal world, no ROSAT or something like that.

I mean, DB always had these bullshit powerups but Tagoma's powerup is just beyond stupid.

Well I mean he already did that in the Buu saga without actually having to work for it.

Piccolo had literally 0 real fight after 17.

And thus his power completely fell back.

He was even shown baby sitting Pan.

In my head that's what happened. He got soft, and he might not be a complete slacker when it comes to training like Gohan, but he still hasn't had a single fight in over 10 years, he gotta be rusty.

I refuse to believe Tagoma is stronger than full powered frieza and the androids. Just no. Especially not when he gets one shot by Gotenks and Gohan.

I'd be immensely happy if Gohan became stronger than Beerus after training for 2 days.

Godhan must return.

The Gotenks thing shouldn't really count. Also, I don't see getting one-shotted by those characters would make it hard to believe that he's stronger than Freeza and the Androids.

Dude trained his ass off with the Z-sword, dunno why people are still hung up on that potential/sitting thing. He still trained, with an ancient sword that containted a Kai and was stuck in that rock by Beerus himself. No one else could get it out.

Gohan spend less than a day with that sword and the only thing abnormal about the sword itself was the fact that it was too heavy for the non-Saiyan characters.

I'm watching Super and what is the deal with the way people's powers are being portrayed here?

'This Tagoma guy is stronger than the Ginyu Force!'

*Tagoma proceeds to beat Piccolo, who should at least be stronger than Imperfect Cell*

There's no way this guy can get that strong after 4 months or so of training, right? I mean, the power scale seems all out of whack in this arc.

Also, c'mon Piccolo, you couldn't use your magic and give Gohan a new set of clothes instead of him looking like he's preparing for a marathon run? It's been done before.

I hated this too, it made all those episodes and years of power development seem so trivial. This is probably the most bothersome thing about Super to me, everyone outside of Goku and Vegeta just seem so pathetic.

For all we know Pan is already quite strong and babysitting here is like training to Piccolo.

lol, I just remembered: a large chunk of Piccolo's training is meditating (he used up a chunk of his hyperbolic time chamber time on it). That might be a clue as to why he isn't as strong as he might otherwise be. He should be drinking plenty of juice, like Vegeta.

Less than a day? Been awhile since I watched it, have to check it out. But I remember he had trouble holding that thing in the beginning and eventually mastered it (so he clearly became stronger by training), took a few episodes too iirc and a lot of stuff happened in the mean time. Also, how do we know whether time doesn't move faster on the Kai planet? Maybe one day on earth is like 3 days on the Kai's planet.

Ohh and ^Vegeta is useless people. He tries and still can't do shit, when Gohan actually tries he becomes the strongest of the bunch.

Vegeta is SSBlue, Gohan is SSNot.

I may be a bit off, but it wasn't that long.

I finally caught up to episode 24. Gotta say that the animation was horrible but I love Freeza being a bitchy guy. He can't stay 10 seconds without yelling or just complaining, I almost feel sorry for the guy.

Vegeta clapping was the most nonsense/cringeworthy scene of the entire franchise, what the fuck was the guy that wrote that thinking?

The anime is canon to Super.

So was Gregory, but look who's sitting pretty in Super.

The anime's version of hell isn't canon to Super, so unless it's shown in Super directly it should be ignored.

He was being a cocky dickhead and making fun of Freeza, what's wrong with it? I liked it.

Trivializing past power development is a common theme of Dragon Ball. Remember when Gohan surpassed Goku's power at the point that he died in just a year, as a toddler? Remember when Raditz was unthinkably strong and yet all the Z fighters surpassed him with just a year of training? Remember when Yamcha, Tenshinhan, Chaozu and Piccolo made it to Kai's planet in a fraction of the time it took Goku? Remember when Piccolo surpassed Goku and Vegeta on Namek and rivaled Second Form Freeza by fusing with a Namekian weaker than most of the Ginyu Force?
I can keep going if you want.

He said why.

The sequence lasted far too long, it lost all its taste.

It also looked like complete shit due to the bad art.

It was hard not to cringe while watching this.

If it had better direction sure. The idea is funny sure. The execution was god awful. Hated it.

MEN CANNOT CLAP!!!

I think?

Did you know there are actually people who are mad at this series because Vegeta wears a PINK apron?

The fact that it went on so long was the point.

And the art was fine during that part.
