The bet was "If he starts training again" lol

Unless you didn't formally get in on the avatar bet.

My whole stance on the thing was that the show was setting up his development in a way that'd he'd start wanting to train again to protect his loved ones. How ever strong he actually gets, or how useful he ends up being, we have no real way of knowing.

no the bet was Gohan being significant in the next arc by saving the planet or something while everyone is away
Avatar bets are dangerous.

Let's do one here.

Gohan will:

A. Be a Fuccboi and go to
his conference
and do nothing

B. Step up and save the Earth while everyone else is away or start training again

Team A will have to make their avatar Gohan being a badass if they lose. Team B will have to make their avatar Gohan being a goob if they lose. I feel like text should accompany them, too, but I'm hesitant to use Fuccboi and Nah because it's too vulgar to clog up the forum everywhere, haha

"or start training again"

he can train and be up to snuff on fat Buu level but he won't be significant

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... if it is just only training then basically the bet is already over by the next episode :(

his training can be just getting fit again not being the significant person he was before

lol I mean Yamcha said he was going to train again before the android saga and he still got scrubbed

Gohan will train with Piccolo but he won't be near the level of the big boys and the big new villains

I like this, but Satan would probably just say that he secretly trained Gohan instead of saying he was important in defeating Cell.

IDK, I always got the feeling the one thing Mr. Satan would be willing to share glory for was his family, and we're talking his granddaughter's future here.

Although he will absolutely say he trained him.

Also, this is how Gohan's books on ki become popular...

It was a little hard to tell with the last three pages of "OH MAN GOHAN IS GONNA BECOME SS4SSG!"

The narrative of dragon ball or even the shounen/martial arts genre in general can't support three equally powerful leads. It barely juggled two in ROF. A pecking order needs to be established.

I agree that Dragon Ball ain't gonna do it, but Hunter x Hunter does a really good job of having a large cast of powerful main characters where none of them really outshines the other, at least in terms of strength, because often their strengths are situational. It has the advantage that they're not just getting bigger muscles, of course. They have different powers that do different things.

Of course it's too bad it'll never be finished.

OK fine, I will reserve judgement and wait and see if he proves himself again.

But don't say I didn't tell you guys when gohan is set up to fail again. It is always a rollercoaster ride with this boy. You get super happy when he does great. He gets over confident (cell, buu) and then he overlooks something and gets bopped.

We'll see. But if he doesn't take home a "W" against a major villian, I'm gonna come right back in this thread and go ham. XD

Jkjkjk

You know what would be a good wish to do with the super dragon balls? Wish to to randomly mix up everyone's power levels. Maybe a god of chaos could do it or something

Gohan probably will fail at some point, since although this might indicate a power up, he won't be the main character again. But he probably will be hyped before being defeated, like various characters in the Cell and Buu Saga, rather than just appearing to be crushed like in the two recent movies.

I bet we don't see the fruits of Gohan's training until near the end of the tournament.

It'll be the second last round, Buu will be against someone but will pull out for something silly like being too hungry, and a new challenger will need be determined. Enter Gohan.

Everyone thinks he's a jobber but then he goes SSGSSG5SSGSGG.

Either that or the characters mock him for having no transformations, and then it turns out he has Mystic SSG.

For a while now I've felt them trying to set up Goku/Vegeta/Gohan as the big three going forward ever since that first Super manga cover. The character developments for both Vegeta and Gohan so far reinforce that feeling.

Yea I noticed that too in the new ED. Gohan is in the middle 3 with Vegeta and Goku.

I think a group of 3 (Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan) as the main cast will be better than just Goku and Vegeta. They can only use the rival card for so long. Gohan would probably be the straight man of the group.

Also if Gohan gets more powerful than Goku and Vegeta (hopefully, put them in their place for a bit), it gives them a more achievable goal to aim towards than just Beerus.

Gohan only needs to somewhat keep up, he doesn't need to be stronger or even on the same level. Just not massively overshadowed. I think it'd be a cool dynamic if the gods are like: "this half-breed mortal is keeping up with us without god-ki? Who the hell is he"

I honestly would like to see gohan be a part of the big 3. Because when he goes in, he looks so bad ass. And his fights are so clean and convincing (gohan vs buu). Even in super when he was dealing with frieza's henchmen, it was so clean.

I am glad vegeta is getting his shine on right now. Everyone knew he was due for shine time. He is my sexond favorite character behind mirai torankusu. So it is good to know he is now the strongest out of the crew right now. I hope it stays like this.

<.<' We DO agree vegeta is the strongest right now.... Right guys?

Pretty sure it was said in the show itself that Vegeta is above Goku rn.

If a "big three" was going to be established, with the idea that everyone is of equal strength, Gohan would be the third wheel. He's not a character with a strong, clearly defined personality that you can play off of Goku or Vegeta, and so far the only real interaction with villains that he's had is overwhelming domination.

Vegeta gets super angry when he sees Gohan being the strongest Saiyan every time. And then when Gohan stops training he gets super angry for slacking off since he knows his potential. And Goku and Gohan have the whole father-son stuff.

Third wheel my ass.

Plus even though it keeps being reversed Gohan has had way more character developement than Goku ever has. And I have always loved Gohan's interactions with Vegeta.

I kind of hadn't been keeping up because I kept hearing how awful every episode was but hearing this episode was a return to form I checked it out and I was glad I did. ACTUAL POTENTIAL CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT FOR GOHAN OMG! I still think it sucks Vegeta got denied the kill but the way things played out here were still a lot better than how the movie went. So I'm guessing next week we start a new OT? Any word on a new opening theme for the show?

Hopefully they introduce something that is the opposite of SSG, like Super Saiyan Devil or Super Saiyan Demon. It should be exclusive to Gohan or someone from the other universe.

That doesn't seem like something that would fit Gohan at all

I'm going to go ahead and assume that anyone who partook in the SSG ritual has the potentional to tap into the God Ki since they have technically already felt it. Vegeta and Goku trained with Beerus, so it made getting there much easier, and they didn't really explain it too much anyways. As for Gohan it can be hand waved as mystic shit.

SSG Pan CONFIRMED!

SSG Pan CONFIRMED!
Pan will be the first born SSB at birth.

Goku, Vegeta, Gohan & Future Trunks crew would be dope. Just Gohan without Future Trunks doesn't balance the Goku, Gohan & Vegeta squad.

Leave current Trunks at home with Goten.

It's still hilarious to me how Goku and Vegeta are such huge shitheads. Frieza literally blew up the planet and killed everyone and it all could've been avoided if they worked together instead of wanting a good fight. Afterwards they wonder if they should start fighting together now and they answer with a "nah".

That was AT really trying to drive home Goku ain't no hero.

That's why they need Gohan as a third.

When Goku was on the ground and got saved by Vegeta all I could hear was TFS Goku saying "thanks best buddy!". TFS is quickly turning into their official voices in my head.

Next week's preview looks so terrible. Haha.

Enjoyed this episode though. Watching Vegeta beat down Frieza was more satisfying than in the movie. Not quite sure why Gohan would go to Piccolo for training... but I suppose if he can barely hold SSJ in his current forum, he's not ready for the God stuff.

I have a feeling it's going to take at least 5 or so episodes to start getting to the good stuff.
