Dragon Ball Super |OT| 28 Episodes Later

if funimation had free rights to super they would have done a broadcast dub with it, plain and simple

we would only be like 4-5 episodes behind on the dub.

they are not even simulcasting it which is drastically different than pretty much every other show out there.

it's clearly locked in some sort of TV deal, we just don't know the details aside from funimation can't currently talk about it.

i mean super aside we are still waiting for the dbz kai buu arc to get a dub announcement. that one has been years. you really think funimation would have skipped getting the rights to their cash cow, and would choose to sit on a dub instead of releasing it just because?
they are clearly being blocked somewhere the question is when their hands will be untied.

and that is getting more and more likely it won't be for a long time.

Again, as far as I know only two dubs have even been announced, and those are for China and Korea and we know Toei plans to launch the show in Europe at the end of the year. Funimation not having announced a dub yet is no different than the rest of the world and according to Funimation the hold up is all on Toei's end. Toei is likely still in talks with US networks trying to work out a deal, they probably plan to launch the show here around the same time as Europe (which would be extra beneficial since Funimation's dub could be used for the UK).

Buu Kai is weird, it could be that someone has the TV rights to it and we just have to wait, but if I'm not mistaken the only dub of Buu Kai that has come out is the French one, so again it's not really something exclusive to Funimation.
I would not be surprised in the slightest if Buu Kai and Super start airing at the same time, with Super either taking the opening slot of Adult Swim from the Kai rerun of the previous week or they shuffle things so that the rerun is gone and Super opens Toonami and is followed by Buu Kai.

I would be absolutely shocked if that was the case.

they already have plenty of data that shows airing dbz kai that was already aired years ago is a huge boost to their numbers.

that they don't remotely need to rush this show out.

they are going to take their time and air it slowly to maximize ratings boosts from it... just like toei is taking their time redoing the movies to snag easy money.

the only way super airs at the same time is if a different station snagged the rights, which seems unlikely because any other station that might have is either dead or shifted to a different direction.

edit: on the plus side I am caught up on dbs uper again. at least it is only a few more episodes to new content.

I wouldn't be surprised if Toei is waiting for the "corrected" dvd version to get further ahead so that the international releases can get that version and not have to deal with the TV cut.

I genuinely don't understand how SSG can be labelled as "deviantart tier". Which fan made design would ever think to make Goku slimmer? Every time a new fan art comes out of potential transformations, it's always bigger and buffer. SSG is actually very original in its design and actually looks like a Toriyama creation.

SSJ4 for example looks a lot more like fan art considering how overly complex the design is and how weird the proportions are.

I can see SSB being labelled as lazy because of it being just a recolor of the SSJ hair but SSG has a lot going for it whilst being kept simple.

Kaioken Goku and SSG Goku are very similar.

SSB years ago on Deviant Art:

Also SS2 is the best form. The hair is badass.

I wonder how Vegeta feels knowing his hair doesn't change shape ever in any of his forms bar for Super Vegeta where it just gets a little longer.

They don't correct anything on the DVDs. Episode 5 was a unique case that got finished after it aired.

Also, there is a strong rumor that the reason toei rushed super and the retelling of movies, was to get out of the FOX deal they had for the movies. By turning the movies into a show, everything goes back to them 100%.

I remember when someone said in this thread that everyone complaining about the bad animation and art weren't allowed to complain because the DVD/BD would fix it.

Then it didn't.

That guy must be feeling awful sad. I would be, too, if I had faith that was destroyed like so much trash.

You might be right, though, if only for licensing purposes. Maybe licensing the DVDs is different from licensing the simulcast, and they think the former is worth more than the latter. Or Toei is holding out for too much money. Or something.

I just want simulcast. That's all I want. Nothing more, nothing less. Alas.

It's a damn shame final flash took like 2 hours to charge up because that could be a cool signature move for Vegeta to pull out here and there.

Vegeta did use his Final Flash attack during his second fight with Goku. They probably just forgot that it doesn't take that long to charge up anymore, or forgot about the attack altogether.

If I remember correctly, in the Japanese voiceovers, Vegeta doesn't say Final Flash (against Goku) but a generic yell when he does that move. Possible mistranslation?

Be cool if he could trick someone into letting him use it again, or work together with someone to get the move off. Like when Piccolo was charging the Special Beam Cannon against Raditz, Goku held it down. However I do wonder if he has to charge it that long, or if he just wanted to make sure Perfect Cell was would die.

I didn't see it on the first page, Is there any way to watch this legally ? Or are people forced to download fantranslations ?

Nope.

You mean the armor that allowed him to turn into a giant ape ?

Yeah I think he's fine.

Well, it's Bulma's version of the armour at that point. Goku stretched the white part, but I always took that section as like metal or something. And it looks like there's a significant dip in his muscles where the straps are. So... It looks painful.

Bulma said she improved it, so obviously it's not going to be a worse version, they showcased its elasticity already on the new models.

And we have seen Oozarus with those identical models with no issue...

I don't know how it could be done, but I'd love to see the Oozaru revisited. It's just cool as hell that Saiyans transform into fucking mouth-beam blasting Kaiju.

You know those massive branching and reconnecting timeline trees with all the various movies?

Has anyone done that, but now including GT and Super?

That could be fun.

Although I suppose the only difference would be "Beerus never showed up" for GT.

I didn't know Bulma was a Saiyan armour broker.

All I remember Bulma saying is she tried to replicate his armour as best she could.

Oh you didn't know that, I see. I'm sure you knew, though, that she was a genius, and her and her father, managed to replicate scouter technology, and space ship technology, and according to Bulma, those new saiyan battle armors were a REQUEST of Vegeta, that is more than satisfied, with them. If they were any worse he obviously would have said something (and maybe he did offscreen during the 3 years ellipse), resulting in the current one that she remade for everybody. She says herself "it turned out so well".

She can make a time machine and yet you really are arguing with the fact that she couldn't remake an armor even though she had several laying around to analyze and experiment with.

Worse, the only thing that made you doubt it in the first place is irrelevant since you can the "metal plates" armor allowing Oozaru transformation.

That's how the muscles were depicted. This is cloth, same effect :

I just said it looked painful and I get this?

Gohan was going to have an outfit reminiscent of Future Trunks in the Buu saga:

Why didn't they go with this. Even the hair is superior. Gohan's never looked good with his forehead showing.
