Dragon Ball Super |OT2| June 12: Judgment Day

I've always had Gohan's fighting style down to speed and it seems to be referenced a bit during the Cell games. Especially when Goku acknowledges that Gohan has been keeping up with his fight with Cell the entire time and his impressive speed when he turns SSJ2.

Even when he's training with Goten, he's dodging stones thrown at him.

I mean like, Gohan only hit Cell like a small handful of times in the Manga. They were single, strong hits. Same with Super Buu. His movement is fast, but his actual combat style doesn't really revolve around fast combos.

He hit so hard that the Cell Jr's exploded.

honestly if BOG and ROF didn't exist super would be getting a lot more love, it's been great so far, animation issues aside.
I agree, despite liking the movies better than Super. I feel like if they just went with Super from the get-go it would be FAR more well received. U6 arc should boost opinions of it substantially.

That was basically anime censorship though, they were just torn apart in the manga.

Whoa really gohan actually tore apart the Cell Jrs?

Is it true that they skipped over the whole "Super Saiyan Blue" part from the manga? if so then that means the manga and anime are setting events up differently and we can't really trust the same will be adapted into the anime or vice versa.

Yes. On the other hand, many scenes had script identical to the manga's, so it seems like Toriyama's outline might be much more detailed for this new arc than it was for the remakes (where the Super manga version of BoGs was barely anything like the anime Super version, aside from a couple of plot points like taking place on a boat).

I guess we'll still see the Super Saiyan Blue scene or an equivalent later though, since the anime had that scene with Freeza calling Goku's explanation a mouthful.

He does deliver strong blows with all his hits but I've always had him down as the fastest amongst the saiyans and like I said, I feel like that's hinted at a lot since the Cell saga. It's difficult to really judge because when he's actually fighting someone important, he is so much stronger than the rest of the z-warriors that you can't really dissect what differentiates his fighting style to the other saiyans. But I would prefer Super to really distinguish Gohan from Goku and Vegeta if he is to train to a similar level.

Goku has instant transmission so he'll always have the faster attack.

Also, there is no foreshadow of Gohan being relevant at all in the future on the manga, this is anime only.

Even before the anime stuff, Gohan's
complete absence from the new arc, when basically everyone else was there was pretty suspicious, in spite of the line about the conference
. The manga also had that line about
Gohan having the highest potential out of all of them, even though they hadn't mentioned Gohan's potential at all in the last few stories.

It's not as clear as the anime, but now that we have the anime RoF arc too it's obvious that it's all set up for Gohan's return to relevancy. We should see the line about Gohan's potentail and Goku's dismissal of him next episode, if they follow the same script as the manga there.

Just saw the episode. Man, this was the first episode in a while that was actually enjoyable. Vegeta knocking over Goku was great as was Goku's less than polite remarks against
Champa.

No,
the Saiyans never migrated from their home planet, Planet Salad, in Universe 6.

Okay, but they still took over that planet and became good right?

honestly if BOG and ROF didn't exist super would be getting a lot more love, it's been great so far, animation issues aside.

Eh, I doubt it. People would still (rightfully) complain about the Goku vs. Beerus fight being repetitive and boring, the Ginyu/Tagoma thing was one of the most pointless additions to ever occur in DB, and the whole Freeza arc should never have existed to begin with.

I'm not sure if you're trying to make a point or not, the manga is not the original work. As mentioned before it's clearly following Toriyama's outline, but it also is skipping over large amounts of stuff because it's only monthly, plus the purpose of the manga is to promote the show.
Okay, but they still took over that planet and became good right?
No, they never took Planet Plant. They aren't an evil race and they are employed by someone (speculated to be Frost) to take out bad guys.

So basically what we see in the manga will not be how were seeing things in the anime, only gives us a general idea? well that kind of blows. :\

Also theirs a rumor going around that Toriyama is disappointed with Super. any truth to that?

Goku has instant transmission so he'll always have the faster attack.

He rarely ever uses that technique in fights (god knows why). Even then, I'm talking about speed with general fighting like ability to dodge hits and speed of offence.

im glad Gohan wasn't affected by the saiyan "stay a toddler until 16" gene, imagine this with Gohan still looking like he did when Raditz took him

You should change your avatar :P

We all established that Gohan crying still makes him look bad so Kagiri made some new ones with Gohan looking awesome a couple of pages back.

I would say that he aged normally because he's a half saiyan but Goten and Trunks stay looking like 5 year olds.

The manga is only a promotional tool and right now it's looking like it's serving as a misdirection of sorts to throw people off from being completely spoiled before the anime catches up. I don't really see the problem here.

So what are we thinking guys...
team 7 lose they get stuck with universe 6 and head for planet salad first? Seems to b the most obvious first visit.

Mainly its just facts, like SSB taking over the SSGSS name when that isn't the case anymore due to the anime not following the same material as the manga. we don't know if any of these facts were getting from the manga are true, will even happen or if they do happen they unfold in a completely different way.

But also their was the hyperbolic time chamber scene I was looking forward to but has a chance of not happening now.

lose a bet and still get the chance to make Gohan look bad? You think I'm gonna give this up?

I'll maybe think about possibly considering it.

Im sure they'll call it ssb eventually. And you didn't give it enough time to get to the hyperbolic time chamber im sure its in they have to train

The anime still has a chance to present that. The manga and anime won't be 100% copies of each other as evidenced by what we saw this week. Given the manga is rushing through a bunch of stuff it won't be surprising to see the anime present its contents in different ways and even in a different order. I still think the "new"
Room of Space and Time
will show up though.

It comes from a comment from Toriyama in the introduction to the Dragon Ball 30th Anniversary book where Toriyama mentions being unsatisfied with the quality of the anime. No further details are given but obviously this caused widespread speculation and exaggeration from the fanbase.

I had put Dragon Ball behind me, but seeing how much that live-action film ticked me off, and how I revised that script for the anime movie and complained about the quality of the TV anime, I suppose somewhere along the line it’s become a series I like too much to ever leave alone.

I have been thinking about how in the world goku ever manage to have sex. I am in the belief that chi-chi must have convinced him sex was some kind of training exercise.

I think the Anime will use that area in Whis's staff. It was already established to be like the RoSaT.

I thought that might happen at first, but I guess Whis might be raining Piccolo during those days, which explains why Goku and Vegeta would go elsewhere by themselves.

Gohan has always been a brawler with an emphasis on pure power (speed and strength). He's not a technical fighter like Goku. He's not as smart of a fighter like Piccolo.

my avi is fine though.... ever time I log in for these next few days my Gohan hatred will grow and grow

you guys will create a Gohan hating monster... one that you haven't seen in your lives

I hope so on both accounts.

I hope the old Hyperbolic Time Chamber shows up instead, the Room inside of Whis's staff is cool and all but doesn't have that same feel. guess I like nostalgia pandering over convenience...

So without blowing things out of hand, what do you think he means? and which "anime" is he speaking of because it could've been Kai too.

Fun episode! Though Goku and Vegeta really are a bag of dicks. Let's put Earth on the line just for the sake of a good fight! Though I suppose that's not new at all for this show. At least Vegeta had the decency to hesitate.

I'm feeling conflicted on the show now that there's no real sense of... conflict. It's weird, there's only so much you can do on the level that the show is at right now but why am I feeling this way? Are we so indoctrinated to have a villain or some other form of conflict in a TV show to be interesting? The whole idea of the tournament seems so boring to me

Alternative universes are cool tho, I guess

Yeah it's the reason why I gave up on it. There is no sense of urgency for anything. Nothing is at stake. I just come to this thread to talk DB.
