Havent read the last few pages. Only saw the comments on this page saying the episode looks good. Yes! Man hopefully I can get this crappy hotel internet to load up the episode tomorrow morning...

These are some short mofos. Goten is aging in reverse.

Forget Gohan, fuck these two right here.

I'm going to continue to head canon that Future Trunks and this Trunks are not actually the same person thanks to Future Trunks traveling back in time to before he was conceived. Future Trunks got human growth genes while current Trunks and Goten got Saiyan growth genes (they stay in a child body for years and then rapidly grow into an adult body).
It's as good of an explanation as any, lol.

Future Trunks confirmed the superior version.

Unfortunately, Trunks was already born when FT came to the present day. So that theory doesn't work :(

I actually just finished the Dragonball (Z) manga and I completely forgot how freaking annoying Goten and Trunks were. Then times 1000 when they turn to Gotenks.

My god... I actually enjoyed the Buu Saga until Buu separated into Evil Buu. Then things went downhill fast IMO.

Edit: Wait, no I think I am mistaken. Was it between the Android Saga and Cell? Man, I just read that 2 days ago lol

Why the fuck are Trunks and Goten still as talk as a CRT TV?

That's really starting to piss me off. Are they afraid of "new" designs or what?

Yes. It's a large part of why they probably don't want to go past EoZ. Not just for Trunks and Goten, but the rest of the cast as well.
The appeal of a show post-DBZ is in the timeskip and new designs. That's always been the appeal. Nobody wants these munchkins. Toei doesn't know what's up. If there isn't ever a timeskip I am going to retroactively hate Super with all of my being for wasting a perfectly good opportunity.

This is stupid. Teenage Trunks has been introduced before Trunks was even born, and in case of Goten they can easily cycle between haircuts. Heck, they could even make that part of his character that he's always worried about his appearance. That would make him a better character instead of his current role as Trunks sidekick.

As for Gotenks, we already know how he'd look like

There's really no reason to do hold back.

And even if all of this fails, they can pull a GT, and have Pilaf wish them to be 11 again, because they bullied him or made fun of him.

They could at least try to use some of the creativity they've been hired for -.-

Trunks first traveled back to before he was born.

Goten and Trunks not changing is likely due to Toriyama just not submitting new designs for them to Toei.

Exceptional episode with the translation, the character development is phenomenal.

Bulma wants to gather the 7 super dragon balls from universe 7 in case beerus or champa do something terrible with the 6's ones !!!!! Goku and Vegeta refuse to help her, and she says she will ask other people !!!!!! GOHAN TRUNKS GOTEN KRILIN JACO ADVENTURE HYPE ?

Give me a space adventure that captures the imagery and atmosphere in these songs and I'll be the happiest man alive

So like GT?

i thought they were only looking for the last one.

i thought they were only looking for the last one.

She specifically said others, but Jaco was the first one, crucial to her plan.

Unlike the manga, she is actively looking for Universe's 7 Super Dragon Balls. She's not gonna do that alone.

I sure as hell can't see her son not helping. Goten is mandatory with Trunks.

And Gohan is shown actually being pro again, but since he might be part of the tournament, I can only see this as a mean for him to help with the dragon balls.
I can't see Goku picking Piccolo after he sees Gohan training, because in the manga Goku didn't know about that.

This still very intriguing. I am excited !

He is wrong most of the time about other people being weaklings.

It is only after Goku shows up that we actually SEE that Gohan is weaker.

We are never shown that Buu can be beaten with SSJ3 tho. Showing > telling.

Yeah... I guess this won't go anywhere, since you want to question direct statements that aren't hinted at all to be questionable.

This is incorrect.

This is the second time Gohan has had his potential unlocked. It first happened with Guru. However, at that time, there is no mention of Gohan having become weaker than during the previous saga (Saiyan).

So basically this is the second time it happens (DB is super repetitive) but only this time it needed the extra ingredient of weakening Gohan.

Gohan's potential unlock in the Namek Saga was pretty pointless though, even after that he still basically stays on Kuririn's level. So, there'd be no need to foreshadow something like that. In fact, it's the other way around, when his potential is unlocked, it's mentioned that he has more power sleeping inside him, which comes into play later, with an anger boost he gets during the Freeza battle, although that doesn't amount to much.

Yes, he could have gotten his potential unlocked without his hidden powers being ever previously mentioned in the Buu Saga, but that "What If" scenario is irrelevant. What I'm pointing out is that Toriyama clearly was building up to them from the beginning of the Buu Saga - Gohan's weakness first mentioned two chapters in, he's out of practice in the beginning of Goten's training, then finally Goku and Vegeta see that he can't match his previous full power when powering up to his maximum, and Goku tells him (and Gohan tells himself) to remember his anger to draw his hidden powers again like he did against Cell. Eventually we get those hidden powers coming to play again with the Ultimate form.

So, the existence of that foreshadowing breaks the idea of an aborted Saiyaman arc. Obviously, at this point, it's clear you won't accept my conclusion, since you're even willing to question the manga's characters themselves even when the manga didn't, but I want to make my point very clear before dropping this. You're focusing on why you think Gohan isn't main character material, my focus here is on signs of changed plot threads or foreshadowing.

I don't think this takes place one year after Frieza. More likely they just forgot about the Dragon Balls' one use per year, or they had a spare wish and this is 6 months after Frieza, or something.

Um...
In the manga she thought Universe 7 had its own set but then Zuno tells them that Universe 6 and 7 share a set, so there is literally only one ball left.

Anyone think the manga was complete bullshit and Gohan is actually going and will replace Buu. That'd be one hell of a twist.

If Vados can make food appear just like that, then what's the point of the tournament? :p

And yeah, it's weird they're able to use the Dragon Balls again... What's the explanation? Has it really been one year?

Maybe her food isn't as good. Bulma also pointed out that this tournament was pointless because of the Dragon Balls and Beerus said it's just an excuse to fight.
What if
Earth is that final super DragonBall?

That wouldn't make sense
how would Porunga have the power to restore a Super Dragon Ball? Also Bulma's radar doesn't pick up the last Super Dragon Ball from Earth, so no Earth is not a Super Dragon Ball.

Oh, I didn't knew that Bulma already completed the Radar, must have overlooked it.
Also, I completely forgot about Porunga. Sorry :$

Hah, yeah, I just realized that.

Also, I find it really hard to believe Bulma had a sister all along and Vegeta didn't know about it. The manga only showed Goku being surprised by it, so I assumed Vegeta knew, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I mean they don't get together, so why not. Tights says she hasn't heard from Bulma in ages and I don't imagine Vegeta bothers to ask about Bulma's family.

It's a bit of a stretch but the jaco manga makes a point of Tights already being moved out and independent when Bulma was a little kid.

I still find it weird she didn't even mention it once, but I'll live with it. I'm glad the anime is at least different enough so I don't feel bad for reading the manga.

Edit: So I'm trying to figure out what's going on with the Shenron thing, and I only now realized a big difference between Resurrection F and Super. In the movie, he only granted two wishes, but in Super he was able to grant three. I'm confused now.

Dende's Shenron is capable of granting 3 wishes, but wishing multiple people back to life at once takes up 2 wishes. The "can grant 2 wishes" thing was an error in the movie version and the show version fixed it.

I see, that makes sense. I was thinking maybe they saved a wish for later (so it would only take 4 months for the Dragon Balls to work again), but they didn't. So it really must have been a year since Frieza's return.

Bulla not being born yet doesn't really bother me since her age wasn't mentioned in the manga itself. There's no way Bulma's 5-year line is true anymore though.

ok ok ok

i apologize to anyone i've offended by saying gt was more enjoyable than super

i've been rewatching some gt and the dialogue makes me want to die a little inside, the japanese OST is awful, the animation is pretty ass most of the time

for example, look at vegeta's ssj4 transformation. goku struggles for a while to transform. vegeta recognizes goku then turns into a super saiyan 4 a few seconds later. all accompanied to the least fitting music in history

"at long last i've finally ascended"
"well done you amaze me"

gt truly is trash, nostalgia clouded my judgment

holy shit it's awful

Well a year since Freeza was resurrected anyways, 8 months minimum since the actual fight with Freeza though. TheDevilsCorpse over on Kanzenshuu made a timeline for Super showing that there is still time for Bra.

One thing that really bothers me about Super's version of F is that Freeza comes back to Earth 4 months after he's resurrected, while in the movie he doesn't actually come back for 6 months. If it was still 6 months there would be even more wiggle room for Bra.

To be completely fair to GT the Funimation dub makes the dialogue MUCH worse than the Japanese version, it's still not great in Japanese though.

The manga is just an ad for the anime. There's already plenty in the latest episode that wasn't in it and the same looks true for episode 30.

I haven't seen the episode but I could totally picture Piccolo saying "Doooodgeeeeee!" in that gif

It's completely ingrained in my head every time Gohan gets hit. Shame it still hasn't sunk in for him yet. Thanks TFS. xD Hope he keeps the jump suit as well. I was also going to mention I was hoping to see more extending arm shenanigans with Piccolo with the upcoming tournament, but it looks like they have that covered! And poor King Kai, that was a nice callback to one of the earlier episodes.

Anyway, the world building and characterization has been awesome again in non-battle episodes. And yay, Tights is back! Here's to hoping the battle episode can stay consistent as well.

Nah, I doubt it.
Buu was in a promo art for the anime team too, not only in the manga chapter. The manga itself had already hinted that Buu wouldn't be relevant too (Piccolo joins the main cast as soon as the team is decided, while Buu gets only one panel showing him joining the team and then only appears again for the written test)

Just watched the episode and it was great. Champa is hilarious and the running gag of him watching his calories is great. I actually think he might end up being the 'good' one out of him and Beerus, they were definitely foreshadowing Vegeta vs Beerus in this episode.

Well, the manga has a volume release confirmed, so it's not just an ad. Anyway, both are based on AT's outline, and that can be seen by shared quotes and such, but each one also adds its own material and the manga likely has to cut in order to fit in the monthly schedule - for example, comparing with the recent episode, the manga had Bulma's line about worrying about what kind of wish Beerus would make, but it doesn't have the conversation where Beerus mention that he could wish to destroy all planets).

Technically, the manga so far also seems to have avoided including anime elements, making it in continuity with the original manga (like the movies were), while the anime often includes references to Z filler.
