Dragon Dogma 2 NEEDS to happen.

Dragon's Dogma came out in 2012.
Even if they started making it right away, they would need at least 3 years to make something decent, considering it's open world and it's jumping generation.

It's soon for desperation.

I agree with the TC 100%. Dragons Dogma is incredible.

Honestly it is half the reason I have 0 interest in Deep Down...it should have been Dragons Dogma 2.

I know.. What a god forsaken shame it's not DD2. It having the same abbreviation mocks me.

I would love a spin-off of Dragon's Dogma situated in ancient Japan. With Shinto-based mythological creatures and youkai as the enemies. You've got Crow Tengu instead of harpies, giant oni armed with kanabou (knobbed metal clubs) instead of cyclopes, komainu instead of the Chimera and much more.

I imagine ancient mountain forests enveloped in mist, snowy plains with hot springs you can rest at, isolated temples with a lingering cursed atmosphere and spring forests full of blooming sakura trees.

As for the vocations, you could have:

Samurai: Similar to the Fighter, but armed with katana.
Shinobi: Similar to the Strider, armed with daggers/kunai and throwing stars.
Shinto Priest/Miko: Similar to the Mage, with the ability to cast seals and summon shikigami.

And more...

I agree, I would love a Dragon's Dogma 2. Most fun I've ever had playing a mage in any RPG. The spell effects in this game are by far the best I've ever seen in any game ever.

I just started Dragon's Dogma, but if I understood right, the game doesn't have a proper teleport system. If that's the case, I would like to see a quick travel system like Skyrim has in the sequel.

I enjoyed it but I'd hardly say the graphics were fantastic. Even for a console game it looked a bit poor. It was really low res looking and even then it still had black borders.
I'd be happy if they just released the PC port everyone's been asking for for ages.

LOL I think your going a little over the top op. The AI is kind of bad and its not really that impressive graphically and the game becomes really easy after a couple of hours. But, yeah I would love a sequel and would buy day one.

I only wanted them to explain how the spawn system works a little better and how the relationship/affinity system works to people. I bet most people went through the game without even knowing about the affinity system until near the end. I know a lot of people want better fast travel but I like the idea of getting a mount better. That way you can still explore and not avoid the day/night system. The questing could also be better. There were too many kill x quests( to be fair, these were usually side quests but its still bad questing imo) and the story didn't really make much sense until near the end. And more enemy types, not just a different variation of the same enemy. If they do that as well as fix the technical issues (fps drops, black bars, etc) this game will be amazing.

Definitely, one of my favourite games of all time and really glad people here have gotten into it thanks to things like playstation plus.

I think word of mouth has also played a part in a growing love for the game, could see a sequel doing better business and reviews being kinder this time (as they probably bothered to finish the game at this point to change their opinion).

I love how this sentiment is repeated in multiple threads sporadically. You got something special here Capcom, don't waste it.

It's so nice seeing all the love for this game on GAF.

I didn't know I wanted that, but I do now.

If there is one game that deserves definitive edition treatment, it is this game.

I will pay full price for PS4 1080p version. It doesn't even need to be constant 60fps. Just make it 1080p with better texture, and above 30fps.

and no I don't give a shit about 'but it is not even a year old and they are charging the full price'. If you think that way, more power to you, but my opinion to you is fuck you and get lost. Just put directly into my vein and you have my wallet capcom.

Dragon's Dogma is an absolutely terrific game that sold well and has plenty of room for improvement. The fact that there's a new engine for it to showcase a sequel on next generation consoles is comforting. I have such high hopes for this game, it's a bit incredible that Capcom created it when you think about their recent output. Hopefully they treat the IP with the respect it deserves. The performance problems, lack of a truly fleshed out open world, pawn system, black bars, Berserk influences/references, animations, combat, monster diversity and lack of a polished delivery for the story elements give this game an immense amount of things to improve upon in the future. Not all of those things listed were even bad either, they just have potential left to be tapped (pawn system for sure, I love the thought of my pawn growing while being played by real people and then coming back to me stronger). Thinking about how good it is already makes one wonder how good it could be with those things addressed. This, the new Mass Effect, Pillars of Eternity and Hex are by far my most anticipated games. Each one would really crush me to see a decline in quality. Crossing my fingers for a PC port and even more Berserk references :).

I agree played it for a while and I thought about all the little improvements capcom can add. You know what thinking about it I only played about ten hours. I should go back and try it after seeing some GIFS. Never gave the game full attention. Although I always wondered why a PC port hasn't happened. I figured that game would have been even better to look on a really good PC rig.

I could imagine this as an expansion to 2. Just as you go to the pier and make the voyage to Bitterblack you could do the same to travel to this new land which would also open up the 3 new classes. Would make a fantastic addition as starting from scratch with 3 new vocations would be bolstered by your already acheived augments and all the new enemies could have drastically different fighting patterns even tho they served similar roles in function to already established enemies.

Just imagining my own little Ninja Scroll story unfolding has me all hot and bothered..Dragon's Dogma just has SO MUCH LEGS. What a fucking travesty if they don't run with it.

6 - It needs an actual story that does not suck.

Sounds like somebody found out their one true love was Fournival.

I remember seeing ppl's posts saying they felt "impure" (shall we say) for getting a male lover in the end and only played through again to get the "correct" lover. I went out of my to make sure I got what I wanted first time.

How do you feel about $0.99 per fast travel and companions replaced by online co-op?

I'd like a sequel to handle you getting powerful better.

Once you got strong enough to handle most things in Dragon's Dogma, the world no longer instilled any fear. Day, night, it didn't matter, you could do whatever you want until the endgame, where it spiked.

Maybe enemy stats evolving with you? Or different kinds of enemies to correspond with different tiers of levels?
This would be a pretty good fix. I like being able to wipe out lower levels like no tomorrow but the game definitely became easier a lot quicker than it should have (well, until I hit the BB content).

With Capcom current direction, and their heavy push on multi-level-marketing-disguised-as-social-feature for their games, I'm not sure if I want Dragon's Dogma 2. Let the young series stop here, I don't want my image of Dark Arisen tarnished forever because of Capcom mismanagement.

. Some of the animations are good, some are okay, some are abysmal. The purple rock golem moves like a PS1 creature.

I think the golem animation is amazing. The golems and skeletons both have janky missing frame movements that is reminiscent of old stop motion monsters. It gives them an uncomfortable eerie otherworldly movement and I don't think it was a coincidence that both monsters that have jittery animation are made up of inanimate objects.

it had a poorly managed difficulty curve and I lost interest when it became too easy, but in every other respect it was a remarkable effort and proof that capcom still got it.

I would love to see capcom fire the hipster monster hunter team and give the franchise to the DD team. This is where mh belongs, not relegated to the back seat weak platforms.

Ooooohohhhhhhhh hlhldfklas nowwwww everyone fuckin loves Dragon's Dogma. NOW there's a thread every week about how godlike it is. Where the fuck were you people when we needed you?!

Enjoy your social network micro-transaction spin off.

If there is one game that deserves definitive edition treatment, it is this game.

I played though the full game when it came out. When Dark Arisen came out I played through the main game again and then played through the expansion. Buddy of mine got it when it came out on PS+ so I played through the entire game and expansion again with him.

Would quadruple dip if they came out with a PS4 version.

It's that good.
