Dragon Quest 11 (JP) |OT| whynotboth.gif

In the dark world now with Greig and I am having a *insert profane word here* of a time trying to kill one of the red aura Metal Slimes. Will I be able to return to this area and kill one should I not be lucky to kill them?

Bums me out that the game seems to have an excellent reception but chances are we will still get diarrhea coming out of our speakers come western release.

Do the right thing, Square.

I too hope they go with lesser known US voice actors and don't waste funds on the bland JPN voice actors. Save that money and put it to other bonuses!

If you want people to help you, you definitely should try at least mentioning at which part of the game you are, anything. Not many are brave enough to view a post which might as well be an endgame story spoiler.

Since (what I think was) my warning, I am basically putting everything in spoilers just to be safe. I am probably overdoing it though. : [

It was just taking a while. I went through 20 some battles where the monster I wanted to kill ran away. Got one though so...

If you're worried about spoiling people you could do "I need help at "town name": [ spoiler ] details of the problem [ /spoiler ]." Idt people consider the town names spoilers. I think that's what the other poster meant.

Maybe there are certain town names that are spoiler-y, but something like that let's people know if they're clicking on something they're okay seeing or not, as they'll see if they've been there too.

If it means we'll get LARGE, world-spanning adventures back in the FF series again, hells yeah!!! FF adventures seem to feel like they've been getting... smaller. Dragon Quest, on the other hand, still seem as big as ever.

And this time they have different styles going for different towns. Some DQs like VII have many locations but the style is larger the same but the town designs have been quite good and varied thus far.

I think I'm about 2 or 3 plot points away from the half way point. Playing slowly and I already feel like getting the 3DS version. My Japanese is very elementary level but so far I can still follow the main gist of the plot. Really liking the characters except for Senya and Rou.

Question for those who completed the game regarding Bestiary completion

So after the world map monsters change and some disappear, do they ever come back? I'm worried I might have permanently missed some monsters(or maybe all the ones that disappear appear somewhere else, I don't know)

Ehhhhh.

Well if you want to know.

COMPLETE GAME SPOILERS

No, there's no such options, but there is a wedding, you might get a trophy for that, I have them turned off, so no idea.

Is the wedding between the hero and someone else? Please answer with just a yes or no.I would personally love to be Martina of course but I doubt it.It will probably be the childhood friend from your village :p

Btw I will try to ask again.I now finished the
mermaid quest and got the green orb
I am level 26 with everyone.
Am I a bit overleved, at this point? How many levels were you back then?
Also I think that the halfway point will be when
you get all the orbs
right?

lol I'm just auto running magic slots while doing some work and am at 2 million coins now.
Started at 10k coins. A bit curious what happens when you get all orbs in the slot game.

I have to say that I like the look of all the characters. There is not one where I say "Eh, I am not a fan of this one or that one."

Even though I love VIII, I look at the entire party and have things I could pick at.

Monster have 3 types

Normal = you encounter them til mid game, and post game world first half
Red eye = you encounter them mid game til the end
Green eye = you encounter them in post game world, second half.

normal you will miss them after mid game, but have chance to collect them again in early post game, so do it there.

after that, you will miss both half of red eye and normal.

Tensei pop both eye, no worry there.

Thank you kind sir.

Is there a romance sidequest/mechanic? One of the trophies seemed to suggest such a thing.

I'm not at the end yet but I don't really see how they can really do any good potential romance here(at least with the protagonist)

The
presence of Ema
kind of ruins that. He could
get with Ema but that would be disappointing because while I think she's a fine girl and all, she's basically irrelevant for the vast majority of the game so it's not a very interesting romance.
Or he gets with someone else and then you'd
feel too bad for Ema
to really get behind the couple.

Not going to read any spoilers regarding this but I was certainly curious what that trophy referred to when I saw it

(Those spoilers are technically for the part a little past presenting all the orbs)

NVM RIP don't be like me and waste time playing the second casino xD.

story spoiler:
The monster casino. All your coins you earn are fake and will vanish.

Is there an island I can drop by to do some smithing without having to go all the way back to the inner sea, now that I have the boat and have gone through the narrow strait? I want to go back and attempt to make some pirate gear - if I am even able to.

Why don't you just warp somewhere to Smith and the warp back?

Nobody except who I quoted should see any of these spoilers.

Just confirming there is no option to save after the PS4 true ending yeah? I was a bit surprised to hit the title screen and instinctively load the first thing selected (auto-save)...

After the game returns you to the title screen, keep playing and return to Ishi village, return to the house of the hero, there's a great surprise waiting for you there.

I went back and have no idea what you are talking about?

There should be a framed picture somewhere there.

Hey I'm level 20 or so across the board. At

Tried fighting the
Kragon
and got demolished. Am I too low to beat him? Any tips for the fight?

I guess I should be able to finish the post game tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, depending on how much I want to grind -
I cleared the first trial and before I even started it I took care of most of pink markers in the world. Aside for the remaining trials I think I have maybe optional 2-3 bosses left and a few sidequests if I decide to bother with those.

You're not too low, but you'll have to take it very slowly. Have Lowe use insulate (バーハ) on everyone, and HP rain. Have Senya use buff (スカラ) on everyone while healing. Getting buffed up is the hard part, but once you're there, you should be able to maintain. Sleep also works occasionally on him, so if you have sleep dagger, that'll be good. ラリホー should also work.

If you want a much easier time, get Senya to 23 for kabuff and you'll win no problem.

I was level 20 myself and I lost the first time. The 2nd time I actually discovered Rou's healing rain move which is really freaking useful in that fight and definitely makes a big difference.

Any good jp wikis about for this game? Also was wondering if anyone had any advice on what skills to invest in for the party members?

Ah I see, respeccing helps a lot. Is it worth taking Senya and Veronica down the Spear/Whip paths? I've got them on Wands/Staves at the moment.

In any other game, I'd be using spear with my cleric and whip for my mage, but in this game, you have other character who can do those things better, and switching characters is free* any time.

* Provided you don't switch our your currently selected character with a slower one.

Thanks, I got wiped out a couple of times so decided to do some leveling. I suppose it's no accident that
there are good spots on that particular stretch of sea
. Should get him this time.

If you expect to use them full-time it can be handy. Senya has no real offense outside of spear and two spells/abilities so she can deal some damage if necessary. However, her skill tree is worse than Martina's on the whole.

Veronica is about the same as Sylvia in regards to group damage with a whip but she beats him pretty badly against single targets with it due to Twin Dragon Lash. He doesn't learn the skill at all and Ultimate Dragon Lash (or however it will be called) was made into a buff clearing attack with a little bit of damage instead of the stronger version of Twin Dragon Lash.

After the twin dragon lash nerf in DQ8 3DS, I haven't even bothered going for it in DQ11 because I fear it will make me cry.

It's DQX Twin Dragon Lash. Basically, it does ridiculous damage despite being used by a mage. It easily is on the same level as all the other weapons in the game in terms of damage.

I'll respec my Veronica and pull out some damage number screenshots when I get a chance.

So for comparison here are some pics, there are spoilers so don't click on the link unless you've gotten to the halfway point of the game after that one big event.

http://i.imgur.com/AzO8FWn.jpg <- 2H Sword, Zenshin Zenrei Giri, Bikilt used by the MC.
http://i.imgur.com/BpmTUyW.jpg <- Whip, Twin Dragon Lash with Biklit used by Veronica.

Slightly unfair comparison because the MC using 2H sword hits the hardest in the game but you can see TDL keeping up pretty well. MC has a 200 attack edge over Veronica in this picture.

http://i.imgur.com/Z7Old1K.jpg <- Other weapon
http://i.imgur.com/e4G0cbZ.jpg <- Veronica's TDL

You can see TDL beats the other weapon in this case and the other char has about 30 more attack than she does though he doesn't have attack accessories like she does which is about 24 more attack.

I beat that boss I was stuck on a couple of posts back. You were right, Aeana slow and steady won the race. Low's Rain Dance move was invaluable as was that one that Sylvia does that restores a little health at a time.

Martina was the main damage dealer in the fight everyone else was on buffs and healing. Swapped in Veronica for Sylvia toward the end to do some more magic damage. Ice based attacks were very effective. Got a nice load of XP out of the battle as well. Felt bad leaving my hero on the bench but the others got it done no bother. Thanks for the tips guys and gals.

Wow, there's a quest that requires getting the jackpot on roulette.

I think that beats out anything in 9 in terms of pain in the ass ridiculousness

Took me about 2 hours to do it, so it's not that bad and you just need a jackpot so red/black and spin. Item it gives you increases item drop rates from monsters

Really? Because imo viiiis up there with the likes of ff 6,7 and Chrono cross and trigger etc aka one of the best jrpg ever made.

Oh I still love VIII very much and the 3DS remake was a lot of fun. I had been anticipating XI for so long (because I couldn't import X with no single player mode and wasn't going to bother with online) that it lived up to the expectations I had. I expect excellence from a DQ game because they average about four years or more these days between releases. I waited for XI and they delivered.

Literally not 2 minutes after I posted that

This complaining on the internet thing really does work. That took less than 25 minutes lol.

Man this game, I've seen a few of the character stories now and I'm quite taken with them. Like every DQ they're generally very simple but that's what gives them a charming sincerity that can hit emotions better than a lot of other more elaborate/convoluted character stories.

This year is just fucking crazy far from finishing but DQ is probably another favorite of mine this year.

The casino as a whole was much more generous in this game than in previous ones, at least for me, I was able to get everything I wanted just within hours, not days, of trying.

The presentation and all makes it much more fun than in previous games too.

Ok i've just beaten the
picture lady メルトア and got the key

Wow, ok I've go to admit this fight was a tough one.It was the first time I got a game over in the game and not once but twice.
I mean the difficult part was that she casts a confusion/love spell that i didn't know how to cure it unfortunately. The good thing was that I do tons of damage so it turned out to be a survival match of who will win faster :p.

Does anyone know btw the name of the spell that cures this?

For the record, you can cure that with Silvia's ツッコミ or protect from it with Senya's キラキラポーン
