Excellent news, loved the first will buy this one on switch
In for the PS4 version.
I hope I'm not the only one buying the PS4 version here lol.
I still haven't played the first but I haven't found it for a decent price. But might wait for it on Switch.
Who's saying they're still using Phyre? Most of SE's teams seem to be working with UE4 these days, Builders switching engines wouldn't be particularly surprising. This is good to see. I wasn't sure if they'd bother considering Phyre Engine.
Wonder what it means for the other Phyre Engine games.
Also still weird that the new Itadaki Street is skipping Switch. That seems like the most appropriate fit.
The Switch is exactly a handheld which in part helps illustrate SE's strong support for it.Really? Square is always pretty baller with supporting handhelds (which the Switch isn't exactly, but close enough).
Multiplayer confirmed.
I wouldn't say it's only for trophies. Each challenge unlocks something else that can be used in the free build mode and they can be useful. However they're pretty easy to do once you've done the Chapter once normally and you have so much leeway. Heck in the first chapter you can do so much stuff before you progress to the point where time passes that it's a joke.I got scared off from playing the first one because of the timed challenges to complete each chapter, but recently learned that apparently finishing chapters under a certain time is only for trophies and has no in-game effect. Totally would have picked the game up if I had known that, because it looked like a ton of fun.
Will be getting this on Switch, for sure!
Oh.. and now I'm back to square one! People have told me so many things about the timed challenges, it's confusing as heck to me. I hate timed stuff, but this game seems like it would really shine on a portable console, so I'll be dipping in either way.I wouldn't say it's only for trophies. I tried Minecraft and didn't like it at all. Got bored quickly. Builders gives you enough story beats and a sense of purpose that makes it all feel worthwhile. It helps that I much prefer the aesthetic since for me Minecraft can look far too blocky and pixelatedWell, considering everyone's reactions here, I'm interested now. I'm getting the feeling I've missed a great game by not playing the first one.
I understand the issues you have with timed stuff. I'm not a fan of them either and I tend tk avoid games that have them. However in Builders they are firstly optional challenges, and secondly incredibly easy to do. Say for example you get 30 in game days to complete the chapter. I've finished some of then by the 13th day leaving me with 17 to go. Just avoiding sleeping by itself meant I could have done several of them on my first playthrough in the Chapter.Oh.. and now I'm back to square one! Fight monsters, collect resources, protect stuff you build, follow the main story. So legit question, what do you do in this game?
I get you build stuff but then what, you build your own town or something or?

I have doubts that Switch will be able to have the LoD needed to really bring this to life, hoping PS4 will have good Pro support.
There's a free build mode where you can basically do anything, but then there are story driven chapters that have combat, boss fights, and a whole system where it can recognize types of rooms and houses you build and you earn points that level up your town the more robust and complicated your houses get. Those have achievement-style objectives that unlock extra things for Free Mode.
The only downside to them in DQB1 was there was always a time attack achievement that wasn't very hard to hit (and sometimes you'd get it by accident) but they were annoying to have to go back and do if you wanted to platinum the game.
I did exactly the same. I did speed runs after just playing and enjoying experimenting with building and having fun with the story.dude, don't bother with the challenges. Just play how you want. The stuff it unlocks is only for the "free mode", which is outside of the main story. I haven't even played it. You don't need to.
Besides, the time challenge are much easier to do on a second playthrough. That's what I did. I played the game how I wanted, then I played a second time and did the challenges easily because I knew the layout of the world and what I had to do.
Get the game.
I really enjoyed the first one so this is great. Hope it comes west.
Day 1 on Swit...
Day 1 on PS4!
To be clear on how it's different, there's a full story mode where you build from the ground up a town from ruins in order to give hope to the lands and end a plague of darkness and every chapter you start over in a different area. Each area has heir own plot point and their own crafting branches, so each chapter isn't a total rehash. Thanks gents, it sounds intriguing and seems like a game one could spend a lot of hours in and have fun. Look up some game play videos and keep an eye on it.

Was just wondering about story in DQB 1, how was it neat wise, really light or surprisingly interesting at all?
