There always has to be something stupid about Japanese console->PC ports.![]()
From Software doesn't seem to have a problem now, Dark Souls II was great![]()
It's absolutely inexcusable that ports on this engine still, after multiple years and games, are resolution locked.
I often defend developers because gamers sometimes don't fully appreciate the complexities of software development, but this is
absolutely
inexcusable.
Which was also present in the console versions of SOTF, wasn't it? It isn't just a PC issue in that case. No, Dark Souls 2 had that horrible framerate based durability bug.

Interested in trying this, actually. Is it good?
For the most part, yes. It's an action RPG infused with a tower defense system that gets progressively harder (most people think there's a spike in difficulty, but it's really just forcing you to use defensive measures instead of brute forcing the game). There's quite a bit of depth and party synergy at play and it kind of acts like a DQ game. That is, for better or for worse to be honest. Menus are just as tedious as the other games, with jingles and confirmations that play out EVERY SINGLE TIME, and a refusal to just put things like party switching in simple menus.
If you can get over that shit, and use a bit of attention with the game when it demands (like the quests system and actually looking at where monsters will spawn to complete them), it's pretty fun.
And people thought this would be the PS3 port. We're actually serious about that. Still makes me laugh.
Crashes at startup on my good laptop when my nvidia card is selected irregardless of windows 7 compatibility. It will start if integrated graphics is selected, but yeah, 0 fps. I'm sad now.

Bladestorm and toukiden were both based on the ps4 version.Basically every other KT PC port from the last year has been the PS3 version, not the PS4 version, and they've lied about it in official screenshots. So it's not really something to laugh about.

Not really. DS2 was perfect, and so are pretty much all MT framework Capcom ports. And plenty more. There always has to be something stupid about Japanese console->PC ports.![]()

Some screens as requested. This is stretched to 1440p so if you're at 1080p won't have some of the issues I have. In motion it's not too bad, though things like talking to vendor NPCs makes it super noticeable, and even at medium distance like in that last shot at the camp.
Do you have AA turned off?
Those shots are pretty rough.
Didn't Dark Souls 2 on PC have the 60fps bug that caused armor and weapons to degrade twice as fast? I stopped playing it since I was pissed at how often my stuff broke and how much of a pain it was to do anything.

So the screenshots aren't lies like they still are for One Piece's store page?
Too lazy to see if manually forcing AA is an alternative for now. Will check later.
No AA, but you can still apply AA with Catalyst or Nvidia Inspector.
Out of curiosity, does manually adding AA from external software (Inspector/Catalyst) result in performance hits?
Or does that depend on the type of AA being added?
DX11 as a requirement made me fairly confident that wouldn't be the issue. But their track record made me weary, and more glad than usual to just jump on PS4 at $20.And people thought this would be the PS3 port. We're actually serious about that. Still makes me laugh.
Yes, any form of anti-aliasing with affect performance. Different types of AA will affect performance differently (FXAA or SMAA is much better performing than MSAA or SSAA)
I've heard a lot of good things about SSAA, especially since my gpu can do 4x SSAA in emulators.
Though I'll likely have to cap it at 30fps to get a steady frame rate with modern games like DQ:H.
SSAA is one of the most intensive AA techniques. I would recommend using MSAA if performance tanks too hard.

Well, you're the one whom everyone goes to when something sucks, so I guess you'd know. It feels like when one comes out and it doesn't have some major issue, it's a break from the norm, not the other way around.
Well, I guess it depends on whether you only count ports developed internally or also outsourced ones.Well, you're the one whom everyone goes to when something sucks, so I guess you'd know. Most of the latter are pretty good (e.g. Zestiria), the former really are hit and miss.
Or, as the case might be, miss and miss if you are K-T.

Thing is, is DQ Heroes a better PC port than Fallout 4, Just Cause 3 or Arkham Knight?
Depends. On the technical side, it seems to be a lot more stable. On the option side, it's lacking framerate and resolution options.
I can't seem to keep a locked 60fps on a 860m. Even on low. Bummer, I do most of my gaming on my notebook. dips into the 30s.
Hmm this is disheartening to hear about the options. I will withhold purchase until someone mods a fix for it. Also did SE or K-T explain why they even have a 20FPS option?
