Something tells me the framerate is going to be shit, in addition to much slowdown.

The way the DS hardware is designed simply cannot allow for this, unless the developers are totally inept. Plus this is a square-enix DS game not your typical DS shovel ware 3D, FFIII runs smoothly, I'd expect the same here.

So what is this going to be, will it be a full fledged RPG DQ game ala VIII ? Or just some minor adventure in DQ universe ?

What were the previous dragon quest monsters like?

Im calling poppycock :p. Splinter cell ds and top spin ds looked really good in screens but had horrible framerates. DQM suspicously has no footage released and yet is due this year. THEYRE HIDING SOMETHING

Think Dragon Quest and Pokemon in a head-on collision.

Splinter Cell DS was a terrible NGAGE port and Top Spin 2 was your typical third party shovelware, this is Square-Enix; and there might be no footage for DQM because it was only recently fully unveiled. It'll be playable at TGS so we shall see, I suppose.

Yeah, only DQM games have actual stories to them, too. Caravan Hearts was a nice little prequel to DQVII starring Prince Kiefer.

I'm really impressed by the locations and areas in this game -- really fantastic cities, lots of different locales and NPCs -- so I think plotwise this one will probably even be better than the previous games in the series.

Looks so much better than FF3...no random enemies is awesome too.

Its such a big battle between this one and TOT for the best graphics in DS award. I'm biased but Tales has its action battles that are so more complex than DQ battle system, so TOT should win :D

I wonder if this will actually be related to DQVIII, the looks and some character models ripped straight from DQVIII might indicate so! I hope so at least, I <3 the DQVIII world.

This looks amazing and if it sells even 500,000 units (I still reckon it'll make the million, though), I think we'll see some DQ ports, or even a DQ compilation on the DS.

If FFV and FFVI Advance sell well enough, though, we may even see DQ1-6 come to the GBA. Who knows?!

I can't imagine that they'd let this beautiful engine go to waste after just one game.

The third generation of DS games are truly upon us.

What an ironic statement. I think that many se games are "unplayable" for reasons that stand alone from their graphical prowess.

But the point is, I want to see this in motion and see how the animation is before I make any verdicts. Unfortuneatly you get some zealots who like to convince themselves that theres no way the ds can go below 60 fps, and Ive played about thirty or so ds games since I purchased the system and can testify OTHERWISE.

And a point you have. There are slowdowns in atleast a couple of games from Nintendo themselves so I don't see the big shock in the possibility that there are some in this game.

Actually I've seen some game footage of it. It was in an old Japanese commercial. What I saw was silky smooth. I'll try to hunt down the clip if it'll calm your nipples.

Actually, I now believe that I got myself confused with Tales of the Tempest after all. My bad. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
