It has two additional playable characters, and a new scenario.
As for your second question...
... probably not.
Well shit.

3DS version also has a better framerate in the overworld. As in not in the teens.Graphics wise PS2 Abyss is still better, as well as better control with Dual shock. Faster loading is the only advantage.
DQVII+DQVIII announced at E3, can you imagine?, maaaaaaaan.
This is never coming to the West.
GAFfers also said FE x Persona wasn't happening.
Then we had Nintendo Direct :V

Atlus actually likes money unlike some other companies.

Region locking or no, I still wouldn't be playing it as I don't know Japanese. Now watch it never get localized and you'll never get to play it due to region-locking.
They sure do with all that DLC crap for recent games + 49.99 3DS games.
I would go nuts for DQ 1+2 and 3 on the 3DS VC.

We aren't worthy of such a megaton.
They do have a conference this year, at the same time as Nintendo no less, hype!Dude, that would be the best E3 of all time.
I would take back everything negative I've ever said about Square-Enix.Okay, maybe not everything.
Nintendo really needs to arrange a publishing agreement with Square-Enix for their 3DS games in the West. Bravely Default was a pretty big success that only came over because of Nintendo. If Nintendo can cover translation costs and distribution in the West it would be a win win for both companies. It would fill in the quieter months and without the huge piracy rates of the NDS, they would sell enough to at least be profitable.
Even though we know Nintendo was publishing the game stateside and in Europe it’s now been confirmed that they are also handling the translation. Apparently they had to choose between Dragon Quest VII and Bravely Default. Although it’s possible Dragon Quest VII may come afterwards. It’s being done in a NOE studio, the same one responsible for Xenoblade, The Last Story and Pandoras Tower.
With that said the NA delay is likely due to the fact that NOA wants to modify the game back into American English so that it will be marketable, hence the 2014 delay.

D:
Dunno what's up with that since they release Squaresoft games on the JP VC.I would go nuts for ANY Square Enix game on the 3DS/Wii U VC
Seriously, there's nothing
There you are! Was hoping you'd be around for the thread tonight.
In all honesty, was this release inevitable given the state of Japan's 3DS industry? Or could it be a sign that SE's still considering bringing VII (and now VIII) to the states?
That 70k link is often cited but it's wrong. DQVII has been transcribed by fans, the entire script is only ~250k words long.
Because half a dozen unlocalized 3DS DQ games just wasn't enough punishment for western DQ fans, lets go for a full dozen :\

Each of the Kiseki games are also longer afaik. As is every Animal Crossing.
You could also say DQ Heroes 2 proves SE aren't done with the DQ series on those consoles, with XI possibly included.
I don't think a port negates what Horii said about wanting to play DQ XI on a big screen.
8 could come to NA. the localization work is already done, after all. They don't even have to record voices for this version, because NA got those when Japan didn't.

yeah. They know their fans will buy their stuff. Unlike Square Enix.
Give everybody alt costumes and it'll be day one for me.
Okay.I provide a source and you provide one too. You know how these things go.
