DQ12 gay wishes it could have a fraction of Slyvando's gay, I wouldn't be surprised if Slyvando by himself is better than the entirety of the DQ12 cast.

Come on, they are better but it's exactly the same. Fortunately we didn't get procedurally generated dungeons in P5 against P3/4(well, Mementos had them) , and the Tartarus in P3 Reload was somewhat tweaked, but it's pretty much the same. You sure don't spend 10 years doing some quite simple 3D dungeons or implementing the negotiation with monsters as in P5.
Enix and Atlus are sure pushing things to the limit development wise, their games are great but not better that other Japanese developers that churn out games each 2/3 years.

The only DQ games I haven't played are I, II, IX and X.Time to pull out my 3DS.
IX looks cool but I felt I was missing out because of playing it like a single-player entry. Might be time to give it another chance!

You can make your own Party members and gear them up and everything. Or go full solo for the extra challenge(more grindy). Even without some of the streetpass only stuff it's still a huuuge game.
I should continue my Solo run sometime.

I and II are awesome. I'll probably get the remakes eventually and play them with mods, but what I did was I downloaded a rom of the super famicom remake collection and used a translation patch. They were both great, although you can really tell that the ending of 2 was never balanced lol

Everything looks great except for the main character design, and it appears they are explaining his tired look with the dream angle. I'll keep my pitchfork down and wait for the next update in 2028.

So finally watched the video, and there's not the DQ charm in the party members I'd hoped for.
Environments look improved from DQ11, but they showcase absolutely nothing charming about any of the characters IMO. The Hero is actually ok in motion, but not great. Lizard hero is ugly. Girl reminds me a little of the DQVII Reimagined look, which I didn't care for, the proportions are almost chibi, which again, not a huge fan of.
But not a great trailer. Certainly doesn't install any faith that the project is even remotely close to being complete, I feel like from that trailer, it looks maybe 10% done at best.

Appreciate it! But if I'm honest I'd rather play the original games first.
You know what, I might just do the same. It's been a while since I played something on the CRT and some good 'ol DQ might just do the trick.
Would love for this one to get a remake. Imo it would have made way more sense than remaking DQ VIII. Poor game is stuck in a portable system and having an active online community once again would have been awesome. Might be their next remake, who knows.

Honestly looks very rough and I do not dig the MC design, will wait and see as they have quite a bit of scope to change things given how basic and early this build looks.
Dev work got restarted, darker DQ is no more (which is honestly sad, was looking forward to seeing how a darker DQ would be like)

If you don't have standarts, thats totally fine. Just don't complain about people expectations.

I really like the main protagonist of Dragon Quest Monsters Joker. I played a lot on my DS.
But, the main protagonist of Dragon Quest Monster Joker 2 is a let down.

From what I gathered it was going to be significantly darker and probably not even turn-based. To me, that's NOT a mainline Dragon Quest game.
I do not want Dragon Quest to lose what it is, in the same way Final Fantasy has. Make a darker, action JRPG. I'll happily check it out. But don't sacrifice the Dragon Quest experience.
Hopefully, this will end with DQXII being just a refinement on DQVIII and DQXI, instead of reinventing the 40 year-old wheel.
