... I read Deadspin & Jalopnik pretty much everyday and if this shit continues they'll be gone and it won't be because they aren't profitable, ...

For sure. That is completely wrong. They are absolutely not profitable, none of these outlets are.
If they were in anyway profitable they would not be passed around from one investor/company/scam-victim to the next.
If they were profitable they would be let to continue doing what they do.
But they are not profitable and probably never will be as it is.
The main problem is that there are so very many of these divisive and highly woke clickbait outlets
and there are actually very few readers to share across all these sites. They all write basically the same
clicky-baity woke trash but there is actually virtually no audience for them.
(See Waypoints youtube audience for an example of audience. When they were in trouble half a year ago we checked/saw their youtube channel had a reach of low hundreds of views per video)
To further make it even worse, the tiny audience they do have is all super woke but don't have much money and as such, any
advertizing to these demographics, well advertizers will NOT pay as well for ads to these audiences as they would pay to normal people.

Jan: Excuse me. I've been told there's been some interest in forming a Union and that Michael supported it. Obviously he's not a friend of yours because he didn't tell you the facts. So let me. If there is even a whiff of unionizing in this branch, I can guarantee you the branch will be shut down like that [snaps her fingers]. They unionized in Pittsfield and we all know what happened in Pittsfield. It will cost each of you a fortune in legal fees and union dues and that will be nothing compared to the cost of losing your jobs. So I would think long and hard before sacrificing your savings and your futures just to send a message. If you have any further questions you can direct them to... to Michael.
I got bad news for you, Jason. I adblock Kotaku.
Wait...alt-right?
Because people on GAF oppose...what exactly? I always thought Alt-right meant like Nazis and Breightbart. Not tryna get political in the gaming channel. I just feel like what I perceive as the alt-right have better fish to fry than SJW journalists...am I wrong?

I'm sure big time left leaners call even moderate democrats (anyone who supports Biden-ish policies) alt-right.You're using like 2015 ~ 2016 era definitions, friend. The term has evolved to include just about everyone that isn't actively self-flagellating themselves for their inherent racism and calling for a complete dismantlement of western society and capitalism.

Nowadays they are brainwashed, authoritarian warmongers. It’s sad, hilarious and disturbing.I'm sure big time left leaners call even moderate democrats (anyone who supports Biden-ish policies) alt-right.
So much for those lefties being supporters of freedom and tolerance. The most loud and destructive people actually come from alt-lefts. Doesn't even make sense, since you'd think a hard lefty would be someone who is a super chilled hippy smoking a bong in a van..... just a big care free happy person who loves life and people no matter what.

Nothing like vague Twitter battles with the boss.Basically : We can't do shit. The guy wouldn't do what he was told and was fired.

This news really hurts you doesn’t itIf we purge games news I’m sure the hyper-politicization in games will stop. Those threads on forums full of partisan political whines about games (and movies, and comics...) are clearly the fault of game journalists... Ethics in video game journalism. (Conservative) Gamers rise up etc and so on
Basically. The good old two-face persona.Maybe he’s far enough removed from the Presidency of the U.S.A. that he can start telling the truth again?
His positions haven't really changed at all. It's the everyone else that's moved further and further left.Maybe he’s far enough removed from the Presidency of the U.S.A. that he can start telling the truth again?

Yup, reputation is important.Ehhh, it was a shitty effort at playing devil's advocate to rib you a bit even though we agree. I figured the same thing would have happened in the football world that we expect to happen in this instance. But ultimately going against the employer's interest made the likely a non-event. I'm just suggesting he might not be as marketable as we expect if future employers take issue with his participation in shaming his employer. I really do believe that might pose him more problems than we would expect at first glance because of his name. If an outlet wants to get off the social commentary bandwagon, or just wants to make sure employees will not attack the entity, he could end up in CK's shoes.
Reminds me of Ace and Jake.Uhh, hmm lemme find that one. Oh here it is:
There's one thing about Jason Schreier that has always driven me crazy. He is Kotaku's News Editor, which means that his job isn't just to report news (and I mean actual news, not just sporadic rumors), but also to oversee news reporting enabling and encouraging the rest of the staff to perform news coverage in a timely and extensive manner.
Not only his personal news coverage is extremely, extremely sporadic (as you can see yourself https://kinja.com/jschreier ), but Kotaku is likely the outlet I know with the worst track record in covering gaming news. I'm always baffled by how much relevant gaming news they absolutely fail to cover. Just as an example, today NiOh 2 got a release date and they didn't even take notice, but I could bring a million such examples.
Let's not even go into the fact that they have news posts that are literally 45 words, which is terribly lazy and abysmal in terms of providing details in an even remotely informative way. Driving quality in news reporting both for himself and the rest of the staff should be Schreier's actual job, but over the years I saw absolutely no effort in that direction. Sloppy and sporadic news reporting is Kotaku's standard, and that's done directly under his responsibility.
As a News Editor myself, it baffles me that someone having "News Editor" in his byline would be even remotely satisfied with such a disaster of a news department. I know many, many, sites with a fraction of Kotaku's resources and staff doing an exponentially better job.
I'm actually quite OK with articles criticizing large-breasted anime girls or whatever and think the vitriol Kotaku attracts to be out of all proportion with whatever "agenda" they are supposedly peddling. Some of the most storied gaming rags in our hobby, from the early EGM to Edge, certainly had an editorial voice. What is the issue is that they consistently fail to cover huge chunks of the industry, time and again.
While I think that politicization in games journalism mostly serves to separate and divide one of the best communities in the world (gaming), I despise cancel culture. I think that it's OK to have people and websites disagree on values and ideals. Cancel culture is what fractured GAF last year into ERA vs GAF. I have browsed GAF for almost a decade and nothing makes me more sad then remembering how this community was when it was "together". Remember when game developers embraced GAF?? (Who remembers Shu mimicking the Antonio banderas shocked meme that had been converted to nathan drake by naughty dog??)

These people aren't in the gaming business, they're third tier news media. Just because they shill as video game adjacent doesn't mean they're in gaming.I mean, generally, I feel bad for people in the games biz losing their jobs, because it's a tough industry in that regard.
In this case, though? Can't say I have much sympathy. What a cesspool that place became over the years.

Too bad Obama doesn't have the balls to call out cutting out the woke policies every one of the 20 democrat candidates promoted on TV the past 4 months.wtf i love Obama now
The people who comprise Kotaku aren't going anywhere.
You'll see them again.
It’s crazy that these woke journalists actually expect people to feel sorry for them.
