Soea Advance Wars :DS have single cart multiplayer matches? Passing the DS blows=)

Single card = "action" mode, not turnbased and not AW at all
Multi card = a hellalot modes turnbased ed classic gameplay

bummer, Just got me and my sluslu both DS Lites in the hopes of some single cat multiplayer. Unfortunately there doesnt seem to be any coop?!?! wtf... and All the single cart games seem to be mini games=( No way Im spending $70 just so she can smoke me in AW:DS

sigh

Does Cart Have multplayer racing on a single cart? or just battle?

Well, I picked up NSMB and AWDS with my DS Lite. There was no SM64 there, so I didn't initially get any third game. Seeing all the praise for Castlevania: DoS, and that it's supposed to be hard to find, I picked one up when I saw two of them.

Bubble Bobble Revolution JUNE 30th? I am so there :D

Might want to reconsider, especially if the NES Bubble Bobble means something to you. IGN Reader average is 5.9 with 18 ratings; press average is 5.4 with 11 ratings. Famitsu gave it 7/6/6/6. Eurogamer gives it 2/10 and their reader average is 4.8/10. GameFAQs has 2 reviews; 4/10 and 5/10.

Rainbow Islands Revolution didn't fare too well either, and that one isn't even going to make it over here :(

Apparantly they just completely ****ed with the gameplay. Avoid like the plague.

i fear game recomendations from you Demi :P ...i mean really...advent rising?

just jokes, Advent Rising was fun :P

Thanks for the ideas, looking at IGN, i think i will pick up Bust a Move DS. Bubble Bobble looks weird, kinda assy :P. gonna have to read up on Lost in Blue, no idea wtf is going on in the IGN screen shots :P doesnt look like it has anything in common with Harvest Moon either (which i love!) ...Polarium is another game ive allways wanted to pick up, looks like a lot of fun, love puzzle games, but the amount of puzzles seemed low. i will get it when i can find it cheap...or wait for the sequal :P (not the lame GBA version either ! )

Lost in Blue has you stranded on an island, and you have to scavenge the island for food (mushroom, coconuts at first), eventually you find a cave... and then you have to make a fire.

So you explore and find twigs and bark, eventually to make your first tool -- a fire starter. So you go back and do a quick minigame where you tap L and R without screwing up... then your fire starts, and you gotta blow in the Mic to get it going.

The next day, you'll find your energy has gone down, so you have to go eat more random food (this is where Harvest Moon management comes in, constantly checking your status), eventually you find a girl who is also stranded. You take her back to the cave and she is there to make you food, etc. etc.

So thats the core of the game, really. Taking care of yourselves, finding new things to upgrade your cave (house), building new tools, hunting... see where the Harvest Moon comes in? It goes on a day by day thing, so you're constnatly making sure you're ok.

Eventually you have to explore the island further and you'll discover a vanilla and obvious plot in there. There are three endings I think. When you beat it, you can play as the girl, and when you beat THAT, you play as a third character.

I can't open a new thread. Maybe someone of you can do it. But here are first infotmations and screenshots to Raid Over the River DS! Sorry, but it is on german, maybe someone of you can translate it ... Check it! It looks very good :)

You're missing Sprung and Ping Pals.

those games are ass though...

only "bad" games on my list are Ridge Racer, Spiderman 2, and Catch Touch Yoshi ....Ridge Racer was a present (and at launch most DS games were ass anyway), Spiderman 2 was 10 bucks (canadian) and i bought it yesterday ...worth 10 bucks too, and Catch Touch Yoshi was a cheap import, and i happen to really enjoy it when i got it.

As for Demi, Lost in Blue sounds pretty neat, is it very long? i dont mind either way as long as its fun, plus 3 endings is good too.

It's only as long as you make it. Like Harvest Moon, you can find yourself in a constant loop, so the game can get boring if you're only scavenging for food daily. I wouldn't say it's too long though.

got my DS lite today I did not open the box yet... My bobble bubble is stuck at the post office seems I have too small of a mail box for the damn USPS

I dunno, I reckon it will eventually. Bubble Bobble Revolution got a Euro/Aussie release like, October last year, and it's only just now coming to America this month. Rainbow Islands Revolution came out last month.. sooo.. American release sometime in 2014 maybe!

I got my DSL today, along with a free copy of Brain Training thanks to that Circuit City deal. It's in my backpack right now lol; I'm at school, and I didn't want to leave it in the van.

Now that the DSL is out, it looks like it'll revive our WiFi playtime. Anyone interested in more Mario Kart/Metroid Hunters/Tetris/etc battles?

I'll make a thread about it later today

How's Viewtiful Joe DS? I've only played the first one on the Cube and I loved it. Never got around to getting the second...

I just got my DS Lite yesterday. Im heading to get a couple of DS games later on (I'm going on a trip tomorrow). I know I'm getting New Super Mario Bros, but I dont know about a 2nd just yet

Im thinking of chosing between:

Mario Kart

Castlevania

Sonic Rush

I'm a hardcore Madden fan with the best of them, but I'd shoot myself in the foot before I'd ever buy a handheld Madden game.

Mario Kart AND Castlevania, sorry...you have to get both. :P

Sure, how about you send me an extra $35 and I'll do that!

Good luck finding Castlevania.

1. Advance Wars- This game absolutely owns. Production values more than make up for the lack of graphical flair and the amount of unlockeable, missions, medals, and modes give this game an insane amount of playtime. I honestly can't see myself getting bored of this; it's just that good.

2. NSMB - Unless you hated all the old marios do yourself a favor and pick it up. Plays alot like the old school but brings enough to the table to make it a standout. Damn good graphics and gameplay.

3. Castlevania - Buy it. Plays alot like Symphony of the Night which, if you didn't know, is a good thing. I hate the gimmicky, stupid, tacked on, draw the stupid-glowing-line-thingy though.

4. Mario Kart - I can't believe this game is on a handheld. Graphics, gameplay....everything about it just screams N64 version. Not dumbed down in the slightest. Multiplayer and medals give it a longer shelf life.

Sadly I recommend AGAINST buying these games......

1 Tetris - I don't know how they did it but they neutered my favorite puzzler. The graphics and NES stuff going on in the background is cool enough but OMG why did they tamper with the gameplay. It just "feels" wrong, hard to explain...the bricks are floatier and the infinite spins once it touches down is a BAD BAD idea!!!! The "touch" mode totally feels tacked on.

2. Brain Age - Blue BLUE BLUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEE!!!! Sorry, the game's broken. Unless I, and everyone else I know who's tried it, has a speak impediment, something is wrong with this game. The handwriting decoder, or whatever, has issues too. Unless you draw out the number/letter EXACTLY as they expect you too (for instance, to draw a "7" I have to start in the upper left and work my way down, otherwise no-go) it won't register. Gets frustrating when trying to take the timed Math test. Sorry Nintendo, sound idea but better luck with the execution next time. Only redeeming quality is that it introduced me to Sudoki. I am so buying Sudoki Generations.

I'm sure there's plenty of other games out there but these are the only ones I've tried that stood out. I can't say it strongly enough...stay away from Brain Age!!!!

Just picked up a DS Lite, and right now I have:

Mario Kart
Meteos
Tetris DS
Castlevania: DoS
New Super Mario Bros.
Brain Age

I'm heading to Japan in July, and am hoping to pick up a few titles. Is Ouenden still easily obtainable? I have no interest in the Bleach anime, but I've heard it's a quality Treasure-developed game, correct? What is it comparable to? I can buy it at Fry's for $50, but maybe I'll stumble upon a cheap used copy in Akihabara...

Any other import suggestions? Is there a Super Robot Wars DS title yet?

Castlevania is better than Mario Kart, but the next DS Castlevania will probably be better than the first one (if for no other reason that they're cutting out the tacked-on stylus usage), whereas Mario Kart games only come out once per system.
Therefore, MKDS it is.

same idea as that one, plays mostly the same, but its quite a bit easier even on "adult" mode, puzzles are good, but nothing to difficult to figure out. as far as i know its relatively short, but ive had fun the whole time ive played it, so i dont mind if its a little on the short side.

how is the Prince of tennis game on DS?

Awesome, i really love it...aparently there was a few others on GBA that looked pretty much the same...but i never played them so it looks fine to me :P . it follows the show pretty well, not in terms of cutscenes or anything, but just in who you play first type of thing, as in you play Seigaku, then move on too...i think its Fudomine (sp?) ...it seems like all the important characters are in it too, and there is a LOT of crazy fun moves, its an arcadey Tennis game of course, but its one of the best ive played...awesome game.

how is sonic rush?

Good game, feals less platformy, and way more GO REALLY FAST DONT DIE ...the originals on Genisis were kinda like that ...but they had a lot more places you needed to make good timed jumps and stuff like that, this game is pure speed :P ...music is friggen awesome though, which isnt usualy a big deal to me...but when the tunes are like something strait outa Jet Set Radio, i have to say something about it :)

as for Madden ... i actualy just bought Madden 05 ...it was 10 bucks at Future shop this week, so i figured why the hell not (same deal as Spiderman 2), its actualy not that bad, hahaha ...looks like complete shit, doesnt have to much for options, but when you get down to it, it actualy is a pretty fun to play game...plays a LOT like a console madden. worth 10 bucks if ya like football, and dont care THAT much about graphics :P

Every Tetris except the original has had infinite spin, and all competitive Tetris does. It's necessary in order to have successful high level play.

Touch mode is tacked on, but it's only one of six gameplay modes and you can ignore it and still play the other ones.

2. Brain Age - Blue BLUE BLUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEE!!!! Sorry, the game's broken. Unless I, and everyone else I know who's tried it, has a speak impediment, something is wrong with this game. I never had absolutely any problems with the handwriting recognition, and I rarely have trouble with the voice recognition. When I do, I just say "oo" instead of "Blue", and it works fine.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. By infinite spin I mean that once your piece touches the ground you can keep spinning it indefinately, all while planning your next move. Once the piece touches the ground, it should stop...time isn't nearly as much a factor anymore...just get the piece ballpark where it should be and keep spinning until it fits the hole. Of course I haven't played Tetris since the DX days so maybe this is a feature that's been around awhile.

Just got my DSL and Big Brain Academy which is sorta...kinda...just...ok in that play for 5 minutes here and there so far. I am seriously considering Age of Empires as a purchase next.

Though impressive, 3rd and 4th level brightness is too crazy. Mario's menu screens look so saturated that it was almost unbearable to stare at. Level 2 seems to be the winner.

Sonic Rush and Meteos look so stunning with the brightness adjustment, and Metroid Hunters is -far- more playable with the increased depth perception the clarity offers.

Oh and I played Meteos for an hour last night, almost forgot what a brilliant puzzler that is.

I disagree with Demi about Trauma Center. It is hard and it can be frustrating, but there is something about the game that makes you keep trying, giving it one more go until you beat the mission you're on. And I suck at video games generally and can get frustrated pretty easily sometimes. So definitely give it a chance Polari. It's just such a unique game with a really fun interface. I've even shown it off to a couple non-gamers who have gotten hooked.

I also wanted to say that I just read that the Bleach anime will be coming to Adult Swim in September. I'd say that really makes it a good possibility that the DS game will come out in North America, eventually at any rate. That'd be awesome because I've heard nothing but good things about it here at GAF, especially with the Wi-Fi play and all. So I'm holding off on importing that one and maybe some of you might want to too.

I just ordered Tetris after playing it with a friend last week. Still need a DSL, but I'm holding off as long as possible. Really, trying not to check out the DSL too much because I know I'll NEED one once I compare the old vs. new and the old one is working pretty well for right now. :)

Yes, that's what I meant. Competitive Tetris is built around crazy-ass T-Spins and other infinite spin moves.

It's different, but it also adds an amazing top end to the game. In the original Tetris (pre-infinite spin), there are quite a few more situations where certain combinations of blocks at a high level require you to lose. Once you hit a certain point, blocks fall so fast that it's impossible to make optimal moves. After level 18 or so, the game just becomes "hope good pieces end up falling" with little actual skill. With infinite spin, literally the only way you can be guaranteed to lose is through items, garbage, or a very long string of S and Z blocks in alternating order. A skilled Tetris player can continue for a long time with the new rules.

I had no idea what the hell I was doing the first time I played Meteos, but now it's nothing but a huge timesink of super awesomeness.
