What it all comes down to is Nintendo wasn't interested in his OVER EXPENSIVE ass after Metroid Prime so he's thrown a hissy ever since then...and good ridance 'cos the music was better in Metroid Prime 2 anyways.

Had a great week at the D.I.C.E. video game conference this week in Vegas.

Some of the highlights for me...


Having lunch with Will Wright and talking about Video Games Live.

Hanging out and chatting with the creator of ICO & Shadow of the Colossus (as well as hearing his speech).

Finding out about a some pretty cool new games for the PS3 that I wasn't previously aware of.

Finding out that the 360 will have some MAJOR franchise annoucements at E3 as well that are really going to surprise some people.

Hanging out with David Jaffe and talking about the IGN Forums (and our similiar avatars).

Hanging out with all my IGN pals including Matt, Fran and Jessica.

Watching Will Wright battle Sid Meier in Pong on stage!! (Sid won)

Watching Guitar Hero, Shadow of the Colossus and God of War pretty much sweep the AIAS awards this year. All 3 of those were my favorite games of the year. I know the XBOX hardcore fanboys are probably upset at that... all of the titles were PS2 exclusives.

Seeing all of my friends in the industry which I haven't seen since E3.

I hope they are something big big big. VF online game would be nice. Sega has been rumoring around putting *a* VF game on 360.

Not to get ahead of myself, but could you imagine the collective shattered dreams of nearly all of GAF if X360 has a better E3 showing than PS3 and Rev? Seriously the X360 has already surpassed DS levels of non expectation before the portable is out. I just find it odd how easily the X360 is being dismissed in various threads. Oh well, just give me good games to lust for after E3.

Do you mean to say that people thought that X360 was gonna be a failure of VB caliber? I don't think so. However, alot of people thought that of NDS...especially in the face of the almighty PSP.

Comparing the 2 doesn't really fit either since NDS had lower expectations and is going above & beyond them now, while the X360 had the normal new-console expectations and is now below them due to bad distribution.

The Xbox 360 could get anything as an exclusive. See: Resident Evil series for Gamecube. Jet Set Radio Future for Xbox.

At this point I've learned to not get too excited about E3. Just take it as it goes and look for a few good games on each new console,the damn event is way overhyped.

Next gen. stuff from Nintendo-well stuff like a new Marioplatformer,StarFox,Metroid,anything SEGA really,maybea new racer from Melbourne House,and maybe a new game from The Collective and Treasure would be neat to see.

MAJOR franchise + unexpected? The only thing I can think of is Dragon Quest...maybe Tekken/SH5 if they count as major. Anything announced as exclusive is probably going to be nuts for 360, at least as far as reaction (but 'meh' if PS3).

Or maybe new franchises? That would be pretty cool if they bought the rights to some good IP (outside games)

I agree. But most announced so far are games that will be out well before PS3 (especially PC "360 exclusive" ports), or 1st-party published.

Well, third parties love to port "exclusives" and you never know what's going to happen in the industry.

See: Super Monkey Ball, Top Spin, RE4, etc.


I think the MS definitely has the respect in the industry to be taken seriously for an exclusive...maybe not one from Sega, but an exclusive all the same.

I think a Japanese developer should take a chance with an ARPG. No anime styles, and true next-gen graphics.

It's funny to see that people generally don't expect anything good from Microsoft. They (MS) really need to get on the hype bandwagon, a lot of people are hating on their console even though their line-up is very nice. (Just not very Japanese) Althought it might be useless, MS is MS, it's like stigmata. If Sony had Gears of War and Mass Effect, everyone would possibily be naming those all the time.

I don't care what happens much, honostly I want less games, higher quality. I want them preferably on 360 (because that is what I have) and I want them to have awesome art and graphics and next-gen gameplay. Cool games FTW.

Well if nothing else, you should expect the best console FPS on the Xbox 360, since that's what MS published this generation.

I think a Halo 3 trailer at E3 is a pretty safe bet.

I just can't wait to finally be able to compare games between the three new consoles head-to-head.

I guess I am also interested to see what Sony end up doing with their controller.

Um, no. That isn't even an opinion, it's just untrue. It's doing worse in Japan than the original Xbox. How has it "surpassed" the DS level of possible failure? It's doing worse than the original!

Well if nothing else, you should expect the best console FPS on the Xbox 360, since that's what MS published this generation.

E3's coming up? We just about half-way through February with about four months to go or so. Little premature for this thread, I say, though i'd imagine another few dozen will pop up as we really get close.

Ohh, yeah- PS3 w/ playable demo's for me!

I started off this thread simply to see if I should really go. And Now I am. Just bought my Air Canada tickets last friday.
