Why is there whining about stuff coming out before E3 exactly? I was under the impression we were all here for the information and announcements regardless of when they happen. Who gives a shit if something is shown today rather than a week from now so long as it's shown to us at all?

I'm fine with this. I'm still hype for E3. Can't wait to see gameplay of Doom, Deus Ex, Battlefront more AC syndicate, MGSV E3 trailer. Still lots for me to be excited about :)

I have tried it! It can be really cool with the right software--Lucky's Tale, for example, is absolutely stunning. But who is going to actually use a VR headset as part of their regular gaming habits, especially when A) the hardware is expensive; B) the market is fragmented; and C) it shuts you out from the rest of the world?

This is exactly how I feel about why VR won't be successful at this stage (at least for mass consumer adoption).

Though unlike motion gaming, and 3d, I do think VR is where the core gaming market will eventually end up with it being the standard, but these points basically need to be addressed in order for that to happen, and a console would probably need to launch with the VR headset included in the package. So still quite a ways off imo.

Also we seen gampleay/trailers for Ratchet&Clank, Hellblade, Tearaway Unfolded, Until Dawn and UCollection this week. Sony MUST be loaded either with a lot of new stuff or third party gameplay videos.

One can only hope you're right.

I wonder if those insiders that are so positive about SOny's presser knew about these pre-E3 materials.

People forget that pre e3 is like this every year, more so for Sony.

Sony always like to get some announcements out that may get a bit lost in an E3 conference packed with goodies and drowned in news sites filled with bigger stories.

It helps the likes of Insomniac and ninja Theory ride a crest of pre e3 excitement and gets them top billing in forums and news sites that they wouldn't get next week.

King of Wushu for PS4 will be at E3, if anyone's interested in that.

I know there's an Xbox One version apparently, too, but I guess that won't be there.

king of wushu is getting localized?! Awesome.

Morpheus will be like move and 3D. They'll push it for a little while and then we'll rarely hear about it afterwards.

I won't lie, that VR Focus news article deflated my hype just a bit. I just hope Morpheus doesn't become the new Kinect.

Doubtful. VR is going to be huge, it's just a matter of when. It's not some new controller that turns into a fad -- it's a new way of experiencing things. It's like the invention of television, and people thinking it'll just 'go away'. It won't. It can't. Once people realize the depth and breadth of VR applications (games, porn, business meetings, presentations, field trips, moon trips, hanging out with buddies that live hundreds of miles away, going on a date with a model, watching a movie as if you're sitting in a theatre, going shopping, etc) it's a done deal. It's just a matter of when the tech can fulfill the promises, and from many accounts we're just about there. Regardless, it's definitely not a fad or gimmick... it's just about the 'when'.

More than reveals, I believe we're going to see more hard release dates for known quantities like The Witness, Rime, No Man's Sky, Fallout 4, etc...

Reveals are great and all but I'm not into the IP name-dropping lap dances that publishers like to tease out there. I want to play the damn thing.

Gran Turismo Sports will probably be a prologue like deal for GT7.

So Gran Turismo Sports + G29 announcement at Sony's presser surely.

Cover looks fake. That seven is just pasted on and the screenshot is from the BMW Vision from GT6.

I think amarr mentioned the game, before it even hit that pre-order page.

Ratceht & Clank will be 39,99

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00Z9LUDX4/6740124-20/

Game looks amazing BTW

That's...actually a little disappointing.

Nexus was also $40 bucks when it launched, right? And that was the weakest and shortest of the bunch. I was hoping for a real, full-length Ratchet game that would try and recapture the brilliance of ACiT. Next we'll hear it'll be 30fps again.

Insomniac, why do you have to let me down AGAIN?

I think its 40 bucks because its basically the first PS2 game remade on a New engine and with some New features. The first Ratchet & Clank was a pretty substantial game. I am really looking forward to it

Didnt know you could tell all that from the price of a game

You should check out the trailer thread, more infos there.

They said it be the same length as the other games in the series.

For me, the problem would be, what are they going to show at E3? Lots of people, including me are looking forward to E3 and will watch most, if not all of the conferences. This is like christmas but for us who enjoys playing games.

Tell me how fun would it be watching, for example, Sonys conference if they had shown most of their stuff before E3?
In my opinion, it would be very boring to watch through Sonys conference, if they show the same stuff again, or worse talk more about stuff, instead of showing new games.

I will admit though, I won´t be watching Bethesda or Sony pressconference live because I live in Europe and will be sleeping at the time. These two I don´t mind if they release all they got before E3, as I will just watch their pressconference afterwards and just skip through the boring parts.

Ratched and Clank looks great btw.

It is 30 FPS
And the game is apparently 10-12 hours long.

Looks insane.

So basically 30fps confirmed. I was hoping they'd go back to 60 (Checked out the gameplay vid as well, even though the video is 60ps, the game is actually running at 30). Oh well, I hope the framerate is perfectly locked, so there are no drops. Maybe a bit of motion blurring to make it look extra smooth. Game is still at least 9 months away.

And the $40 pricepoint doesn't mean jack. Sony's been testing this pricepoint for a few games now already. Sly 4 was also priced at $40 and that was a brand new game, this is a remake.

Honestly, all the leaks do is get me THAT much more excited to see all these games in action. I'm literally trembling at the thought of seeing Dark Souls 3 gameplay. I'm ready.

You can learn a lot about the way developers price their titles. For instance, they've done this before under very specific circumstances of which they were very vocal about. My past experience with a $40 Ratchet game left me wanting more from them that they simply couldn't or wouldn't provide. This makes me wary of getting too excited for what they might have given that experience, and especially the way they have mismanaged this IP since ACiT.

That's my opinion about it, though. Others may have liked All 4 One and Full Frontal Assault or whatever, but Nexus was utterly disappointing to me and the same signs are showing for this remake.

They said it be the same length as the other games in the series.

So NOW we're listening to developers when they tell us how long their games are?

I'm not setting out to be cynical for the hell of it. I legitimately feel this shows a lack of scope and scale that sets off a few warning signs.

Will still buy it day one, though. I need them to know I want more Ratchet.

It is 30 FPS
And the game is apparently 10-12 hours long.

And the disappointment continues to pile on.

Don't worry about E3. There's plenty to look forward to.

Ratchet is a game that was announced last year. There's nothing wrong with giving it time in the limelight now, and letting people really take it in, rather than doing it only at E3 where there are a handful of titles that are going to dominate the discussion after the conference.

You can skip any parts you don't like too, since you have that advantage by not watching it live.

I sure hope it's true.

Agree on R&C, even if they showed us gameplay live at the conference, it would have been overshadowed by the likes of other demos like Uncharted.

Insomniac is never going back to 60, they said so themselves.

Will a huge amount of time be spent on morpheus? I hope not

Yeah I know, but can't help but hope. They really shouldn't have done that to a game series that was running at 60 before though. Had no issues with SO being 30, because well, that's the first game in that franchise, I've only played it and seen it when it was running at 30. Unlike Ratchet. Oh well.

I'll throw in the caveat that I don't mean you're getting ten new big announcements from Sony. There's a lot of content, new first party announcements including some big ones, third party games, and obviously Morpheus.

I just don't understand why folks worry themselves because footage is shown of a game that was announced last year, was due to be released this year, and ended up having to be pushed back. People felt disappointed last year because a new Ratchet was announced, even though it's a franchise which has been pretty consistent, and it deserves to have a good amount of time to itself. Insomniac is already off to a good start this generation with Sunset, so this should hopefully be really good too.

Look at that GAF thread. I took a brief look at it, and it's lots of pages. That might not have happened if it was sat on until E3 because a lot of the Sony fans here are going to be posting in a select few.

I think I have seen it all..people disappointed a game is cheaper at launch.

You obviously didn't read what I had to say, but I'm going to engage with you anyway.

I'm not upset that it's cheaper. I'm upset that the price could, based on their past action, represent a smaller Ratchet game, just like Nexus was. I am disappointed in the lack of effort put forward in trying to recapture the 60fps brilliance of Ratchet during the franchise's best years. A full Ratchet title would be what I expected and it's a little bit of a bummer to find out that won't be the case.

It's great for everyone who wants Ratchet, myself included, but I think it's a lost opportunity.

I swear, at the beginning of this year, I had a dream that looking back now, was an e3 prophecy for Sony. It started out in a massive watery cave, with climbing footholds, a la uncharted, the cave led out to a huge valley with robotic animals (rhinos, not dinosaurs from what I remember) , mechanical cranks with a screw like something out of a ratchet and clank game. It later led into a huge PlayStation themed mall. This last one is iffy from my memory, really iffy, but there may have been a big statue of a giant hyena bird creature. In front of one of the stores.

No one asked for 10 announcements. 1-2 from each conference and I'll be happy, since that adds up to 7 - 14.

Lol yeah that would be the opposite extreme of the "they have nothing else to show" spectrum.

But yes, it's a perfectly reasonable way of planning, of course many of those who watch this put hype before reasoning and then bad things happens.
