y'all should be ashamed
Bethesda: Was psyched to see Doom, got what I wanted though it was a little underwhelming. Fallout Shelter was a nice surprise, and of course Fallout 4 had a great showing. B+

Microsoft: If there's one thing you can count on Microsoft having, it's a solid press conference. That said, this year was surprisingly lacking in big game announcements, with the biggest news being backwards compatible and controller stuff. The conference felt a little sparse, and the decision to split three games away from it (Scalebound, Quantum Break, Crackdown) did not do their presser any favors. And holy crap, what a terrible showing for Gears 4. C+

EA: Remind me to never watch another EA conference again. It wasn't worth it despite the great Battlefront footage, the good Need for Speed footage and the solid Mirrors Edge footage. Holy crap. D

Ubisoft: That new samurai/knights/whatever versus game looks great! Everything else looked fine I guess. I just don't really like Ubi's library of games. C

Sony: Looking at it from a pure games perspective, it didn't do too much to line the remaining year, exclusives wise. Morpheus was surprisingly kept short, so much so that I wonder just how much confidence Sony has in it. The new games looked amazing...Horizon will easily be the Game of the Show. Last Guardian looked alright. It's a shame we'll have to sit through COD demos from now on. So as a standard, "what's exclusive?" conference measure, it's a B-.

But my gawd, the announcements. The sheer weight of the announcements, the legends, the dreams. There's no denying that this conference will be used as a measure for all E3s to come. Nothing will ever top it. Ever. So viewing it in that regard...A+++++

Nintendo: I don't own any Nintendo consoles/handhelds but I enjoy their events. Mario Maker looks great. The puppets were funny. Starfox looks pretty bad. Overall it was fine, but nothing for me really. I can't really rate this one.

Square Enix: Just Cause 3 looked amazing, as does Hitman. The rest isn't my kind of deal, so I can't really rate it.

PC Gamers Show: I enjoyed the laid back look at games. Some technical hitches, and it could have been tightened up a bit, but a good first start. I'm not a huge PC gamer so I can't really rate how the announcements went but overall, not too shabby!

Overall E3 so far: amazing. Definitely one that we'll all remember.

Sony's was fantastic, and I'm not even *that* big of a fan of the three mythological games they managed to fit into their conference. Uncharted 4 and Horizon also look great.

Microsoft's was a bit dull, but at least there were a few surprises there and I'm still cautiously interested in what Sea of Thieves will be like for Rare. Halo 5 and Gears of War 4 looks like overly scripted, bland bullshit I wish we were moving past though
and I'm aware of the slight irony of saying this after saying UC4 looked great
.

Bethesda's was fun enough, though I don't get what was gained from revealing Fallout 4 beforehand. Did they anticipate there being bitching about the more colorful art style and wanted people to get that out of their system before the show?

Ubisoft had a neat surprise with Stick of Truth getting a sequel, even if the studio swap makes me nervous about its quality. Everything else was shit dank memes fuckery i want no part of.

EA had Mirror's Edge I guess. Very little of their lineup usually appeals to me, so I'm not the best judge of their conference.

Holy shit I love that one Square Enix exec who keeps fucking around with the audience when he bait-and-switched Kingdom Hearts 3. Game looks really fun, though surprised we only saw 5 seconds of a Tangled world and they left it at that. Nobody clapping at Nier getting a sequel sucks.

Nintendo somehow managed to make me angrier than I've been after a conference in a long while, despite starting off with a Platinum-made Star Fox of all things. I get NX is their priority but holy shit what a shambles. Abysmal.

Pretty solid all round but I don't get all the GOAT surrounding Sony's conference??
I know FF7 is big for many but it's not exclusive and is not developed by Square? Seems they just locked down the announcement to help divert eyes from their lacking first party content? Just saying it like I see it.
Shenmue 3 is the same although worse since it was an announcement of a Kickstarter...
TLG didn't look much different to the PS3 version shown years ago which makes me think this either had to be shown or scrapped for good.
They then did what MS has been criticised for by showing COD and Creed with TV thrown in for good measure.
On the flip side uncharted was absolutely brilliant and my favourite demo of all the shows while Horizon really surprised me with how good it looked! If there was more of those sorts of things then I would agree they would have nailed it but sadly it just highlighted the lack of exclusive content coming anytime soon.

Oculus: Didn't watch
Bethesda: B-, Doom looked poorly designed and oddly slow and Dishonoured and Battlecry were just brushed over. Also the Elder Scrolls stuff was boring because I don't care about Elder Scrolls, but the Fallout 4 presentation was FANTASTIC! Todd Howard fucking rocks how they decided to reveal Fallout 4 features in sections like that was genius! My goodness I wish more people were like Todd Howard when presenting games.
Microsoft: B, very solid showing, but no demos really wowed nor did any announcements really shock other than backwards compatibility and the elite controller which were awesome! But what they showed was solid. Gears Remaster beta and Gears 4 demo (that surprised me) were awesome!
EA: D-, Mass Effect got a title.... That was cool. What they showed of it was pretty neat, but they glossed over it like they didn't care about it. They treated it like shit and moved on. Mirror's Edge's demo was cool, I guess. Everything else was pure shit.
Ubisoft: D+, Some little surprises (none I really cared about though) and I still think The Division looks really cool. Most everything else that I can recall was pretty damn lame.
Sony: A-, Fucking The Last Guardian! Also, FFVIIRemake? Sweet! And while I don't care about it, Shenmue III?! The excited and hype was insane! Also, THE LAST FUCKING GUARDIAN! Fucking game of the show! Sony's pacing this year was spot on! Game after game and to the point. Also not a 2 hour bloated conference, but a 1.5 hour punch after punch! So good! Thought the Uncharted 4 demo was lame and that it should have opened the conference and they should have ended with the 1,2,3 punch of the trifecta announcements all at the end. Excellent Conference, nevertheless.
Nintendo: C, Very disappointing. Every announcement was boring an not exciting. Pacing was bad with too much time spent of dev stories. No shockers. Yet another non-proper Paper Mario... Triforce Heroes looks cool and like it has promise. Dumbest ending to a conference I can remember. This conference was only saved by three games I expected to be there anyway and BOOOY am I excited for them. Fire Emblem Fates: I did not expect an English voice trailer when the game doesn't come until next year, but it was fantastic! Xenoblade Chronicles X: I DID expect an English voiced trailer, but didn't get it even though it's coming out this year and before Fire Emblem Fates, but still one of my most anticipated games right now, easily and was glad to see a release date. Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem: Another trailer with disappointed sleeziness, but the gameplay looks and will likely be fantastic.
Square Enix: C+, Better showing than expected. Nier 2 sounds sooo good! And the Kingdom Hearts III gameplay trailer was fucking awesome! Personally, didn't care for much more outside of that. Also, how did FFVII PC port get delayed half a year? lol
PC: Didn't watch

Sony: A lot of promises. The announcements were cool but I can't get excited about games that won't come out in 3 years. Devolver stuff was nice though. TLG is cool and SFV will be good.

MS: Recore looked cool and BC is nice. Not much else. The exciting stuff was saved for Gamescom (Scalebound, Crackdown, Quantum Break) Dark Souls 3 trailer was class.

Square: New Nier is awesome but again, it has just started development so we'll see.

Poll is interesting in that it asks a specific question "Who had your favorite E3 press conference?" versus "who had the best conference?"

Had the question been the latter instead of the former, I would've voted for Sony's but on a personal level Bethesda's was my favorite as I need another Fallout

Also you uh apparently can't change your vote so yeah

And what in the hell happened at Nintendo's conference? Haven't watched it yet but yeesh after last year's I thought it would be okay at least

Bethesda: B-
Microsoft: B
EA: C-
Ubisoft: C
Sony: A+
Nintendo: D
Square: C+
PC: Didn't watch

These last few days have been crazy so I don't remember everything, but these are my ratings based on how I think the company did, and from the reactions of friends.

Sony won easily with three huge game announcements even if most of them don't hold too much emotional stake with me. The conference was fun for the most part and probably the most hype I have ever seen my Twitter feed so I know they did a lot right.

Microsoft and Bethesda both had very solid showings in my opinion. Bethesda showed a lot of Fallout 4, and what they showed of Doom was really interesting. For a first time press conference it went really well. Microsoft did play it a little safe as they tend to at E3, but they did have a lot of solid announcements: Halo 5 and Gears 4 looked pretty good; Recore and Sea of Thieves seem like they have loads of potential; Rare Rewind is incredible; but they really seemed to do strong in hardware announcements. The Fallout 4 mods and backwards compatibility came out of no where and that was probably the biggest megaton they did.

EA, Ubi, and Square were all very hard to interpret. They all had some really high points (Battlefront, new Ghost Recon, and KH3), but mostly seemed lackluster compared to Sony, Microsoft, and even Bethesda.

I personally didn't feel the Nintendo conference was too bad, but a lot of my friends have all but given up hope. They wanted a metroid game and they got one, just not the one they hoped for. They hoped for that 3rd party partnership to rekindle hope, and it was just Skylanders/Amiibo. The lack of Wii U talk seems like they are putting out to pasture especially with the NX being talked about next year. My most die hard Nintendo friends couldn't even get excited for Sky Fox because it looked so mediocre to them.

I only actually watched a few of them, so some of these are just based on announcement summaries (but I don't get excited about crowd reactions or showmanship anyway, so that's not really much of a difference):

Amazing conference that gets me super excited:

- N/A

Pretty good, something I'm glad to hear about:

- Square-Enix: Probably the best one, overall. I'd have never imagined we'd see a Nier 2, and having the gameplay done by Platinum with all the other components done by the original Nier staff is kind of like one of those dream announcements; the only dark cloud over the whole thing is PS4 exclusivity. It's the first time I've ever felt an inkling of 'maybe I'll own one of these things', but I'd much prefer it on PC or PS3. Star Ocean 5 looks really promising, too, but again, no PC version, no (English) PS3 version.
If those two games had been available on PC and/or PS3, this conference would have gone up in the 'genuinely excited' category.

- Sony: Shenmue 3 being a thing that is now going to exist is really, genuinely cool, and it not being shackled to consoles is icing on the cake. It's kind of blunted by me being only a kinda-sorta-maybe, mild fan of Shenmue, though, and by the fact that it's an announcement of something that's probably at least 2+ years away. The FF7 remake has some of the same issues; I'm a fan of FF7, but I'm a fan of a version of that game that relies on stuff that has been totally, 110% absent from every FF7-branded spinoff since, and I'm very skeptical of their ability to recapture the things that I actually like about the game. Plus, it was a CG teaser for something that's years away, at best, and they're pulling some timed-exclusive bullshittery with it, so it's a huge wait for me, for something that I only "might" end up actually liking.
All the stuff that was actually playable, or that might come out any time within the next two years, was really boring to me, other than the Firewatch trailer, but a trailer doesn't really change anything about my looking forward to that.

- Nintendo: Super Mario Maker looks incredible; with the possible exception of Shadow Warrior 2, it was the coolest thing I saw out of E3, and I'm super excited for it. And if anyone can actually catch the impossible dream of making a StarFox game that is A) not StarFox 64, and B) not terrible, it's Platinum, so I'm optimistic about that. I really hate 3D Zelda, and quite like 2D Zelda, so getting another ALBW-like game that I never expected was a really nice surprise. And I actually think the Metroid spinoff looks like it might turn out to be really fun, but I should probably qualify that by saying that the only Metroid game that I like is the OG NES Metroid (Super didn't even do it for me), so I really had no hopes to be betrayed with that one.

I felt pretty neutral about it, but was still interested in what was on offer:

- Microsoft: I think it's incredibly cool that they're actively pursuing backward compatibility. With the 360's BC of the OG Xbox, you kind of got the impression that they threw it in there in a panicked attempt to shore up their release library, and then jettisoned it ASAP after a couple years. It's heartening that it's coming up on "a couple years" and they're just now actively working on it. My secret hope is that once they've got it up and running, they figure out a way to extend it to Windows 10; that's probably a pipedream, but it would retroactively make this conference the best thing to come out of E3 2015.
ReCore looked alright, and the Rare collection is a really good deal, but one was CG and the other is only for a console that I don't plan to buy, so my enthusiasm is pretty limited.

- Bethesda: "I thought it was going to be total dogshit, and then it only looked kind of iffy, so I was pleasantly surprised." I imagined that Doom 4 would be another ADS-focused garbage FPS. Instead there's actually a good deal more mobility than I thought there'd be (double-jumps!), and it certainly appears that you can move full speed and shoot full accuracy at the same time. I doubt that it's going to resemble classic Doom, and there's plenty of room for it to actually turn out shit, but the base is there to make a good FPS, and those are pretty rare these days.
Fallout 4 was the same way. I expected to be cringing my way through all of it, covering my face with my hands and peeking through my fingers. Instead, it kind of just looks like Bethesda Fallout. There's still a lot of stuff that they just obviously don't 'get', but I can imagine playing around in the world for a while and not hating myself for it.

- PC Gamer: Just not really much to say on this one. I was hoping the Xbox guy would actually have something of substance to say, but I didn't really expect him to, and wasn't disappointed when it didn't happen. Everything else was kind of just "there". I already like PC gaming, and nothing about that changed there, for better or worse. Best 'show' in terms of format, though: Just rapid-fire game after game, with the couple short interludes for hardware shilling.

- Ubisoft: Here solely because the central mechanic/control scheme for the duels in For Honor looked like it has potential to be really fun. Everything else (including everything else about For Honor), whatever, no opinion. Edit: Wait, not solely. A sequel to The Stick of Truth is also really promising, even if the grumpy man inside me wants to bitch that Obsidian isn't involved.

I am entirely ambivalent to the existence of this conference:

- EA: A whole lot of fucking nothing. CG target/mockups for another Mass Effect, which I'm probably 50-50 on actually bothering to play or not, depending on what happens when we see actual gameplay/information on it, and for another Mirror's Edge, which I'm still assuming is overwhelmingly likely to be garbage based on those early articles about how it should be open-world and how the first game was 'just people dying all the time' or whatever, because nothing I've seen/read since has contradicted any of that.

This conference was so bad that I'm actually upset that it happened:

N/A.

Don't care about press conference warz very much, but of the bits and pieces I saw, Horizon was the most impressive thing by far. A beautiful environment and an interesting setting, a take on post-apocalyptic that isn't just Fallout again, weird robot ecosystems and what looks like a decent battle system. Oh, and a likely looking heroine. But really it was mostly the beautiful environment.

Preach.

I keep rewatching the trailer...

That last shot of her looking over that ancient city was breathtaking. I get to explore that? Holy shit.

That and the drawings early on and what they show of what happened leading to the current time in the story.

Sony A+ -- What more could you have possibly hoped for really? I don't own a current-gen console (PC solely now) but I am definitely seeing the appeal here.

Bethesda A -- Huge Fallout 4 fan so naturally. The format was quick and to the point. They showed footage without all of the gimmicks.

Microsoft B -- BC is a pretty big deal and I guess their games looked good, but personally it's the same games you expect every year from them.

Square-Enix B+ -- Granted, Sony poached the big one in their presentation but they brought a really solid line-up of games and Nier was a great surprise. Nice and concise presentation.

EA C- -- Battlefront! Thanks! I love soccer and was yelling at my TV earlier when the women's team moved on to the next round but Pele doesn't belong in a faux-interview to shill a game. Bored out of my mind.

Nintendo D- -- Every day it's looking more and more like I made the right decision to skip this console entirely.

PC C+ - Love the format, loved the host, didn't love the incredibly long run-time. Clean it up a bit next year and you've got yourself a really solid format to display PC games. The heads of Paradox and Obsidian should have their own buddy comedy.

This is so awesome.

Nintendo - You just had the most incredible orgasm of your life. So what's the problem? There's still 55 minutes left in the hour you paid for and all this escort wants to do now is make awkward small talk in broken English while you desperately try and get it up again. Please understand.

Perfectly worded. It felt like NWC was the real E3 digital event for Ninty.

I'm only scoring the presentations that I watched. I missed Microsoft's conference this year and I typically don't watch the other ones.

Sony (A): The Last Guardian, Shenmue III, and Final Fantasy VII. I never thought we would ever see any of these games again. :) I had almost lost all hope for Shenmue III. All of these games are still a long ways off though unfortunately. :(

Nintendo (C): They really messed up this year. Nintendo hands down had the best showing last year, but this year they had nothing to show that I cared about that wasn't already announced. I'm really disappointed. :( I'm hoping that they are putting all of their focus on NX.

Square-Enix (D): No Dragon Quest? Ugh... The new RPG that they teased at the end of the presentation was the only thing I was really at least a little bit interested in. That and maybe Nier 2.

Bethesda: B Doom looked awesome and Fallout 4 looked alright from the stuff they showed.

Microsoft: C- Standard stuff nothing really interesting.

EA: D only thing exciting during it was Star Wars

Ubisoft: D+ Same as EA only they had For Honor which looked decent

Sony: C- I am not a fan of FF or Shenmue and The Last Guardian looks good but I want to see more before I get excited.

Nintendo: didn't watch

Square: didn't watch

PC: F I was expecting way more from this conference than all the others. It really let me down it had the best host and some funny moments but outside of that big bomb.

Yes I know what you mean. I think people are happy with Sony for leading in facilitating the delivery of some legendary games people have being asking for and being seemingly disregarded for what seems like decades. The reactions thread is just incredible and quite moving. They certainly do need to deliver them now although I suspect FF7 and Shenmue 3 are several years away still which will get frustrating in the months ahead..

Oculus: N/A, didnt see it

Bethesda: N/A, didnt see it

Microsoft: SOLID A for redmond this year. Truly was all about the games, and they had a lot of exclusives to show and tease, and they were honest too; if it was for the One and PC they were direct about it. Great lineup, Rare Replay was the belle of the ball hands down, and it had the right amount of energy behind it. Great job MS, you won E3 by giving something for gamers young, gamers old, core gamers, casual gamers, and truly everyone in between; truly this is where we jump ahead. This keynote is THE reason that no fewer than 3 of my IRL friends will get the One at Target this week.

EA: N/A, didnt see it

Ubisoft: N/A, didnt see it

Sony: HIGH C for Dogma this year. They had some hype moment but... none of it was new or exclusive. Last Guardian wasn't dead, but it's not new, Shenmue is great, but not exclusive, same for FF 7, and they dipped with technical difficulties, TV TV TV towards the middle, and they seemed to go out of their way to confuse people as to what was and wasn't and exclusive. Hyped moments combined with a misleading presentation with technical difficulties, makes for a hard bargain in my book as well as a hard sell. Nothing in this keynote convinced me to get a PS4 any earlier than my original 2016/2017 vision (as my Uncharted 4 machine first and foremost).

Nintendo: LOW A for Kyoto this year. Sadly, this was the only keynote I did not watch live, but with a delay without spoilers (thanks Diggeh!) of about 2 hours. After an emotional ride and then reading up on the reactions of others... did I even see the same keynote as so many of you?!?!?!?!?! We got a new StarFox, a new Zelda, A NEW FUCKING METROID, an amazing adorable new take on Animal Crossing with gorgeous Amiibo to boot, a crossover of 2 amazing MARIO RPG types, a brand new Mario Tennis out of nowhere, and the most amazing love-filled tribute to SMB in the game that is now Super Mario Maker.

And people are hating on this? New Mario, new Starfox, new Zelda, NEW METROID...
Scvt3lz.gif

This keynote absolutely convinced me that haters will hate, and that Nintendo hasn't changed, and that's a good thing in my book. Slightly low marks because it failed on one important note: audience. This was a keynote for people that already own these systems, these games will do nothing to expand that userbase sadly.

Square Enix: N/A, didnt see it

PC: N/A, didnt see it

Sony in terms of announcements and conference pacing A+

In terms of exclusive content i want to play C+

I didn't watch microsofts so i can't comment on presentation but as far as games and exclusives i want to play A-

Thanks for not ripping me apart because I'm not trying to just hate on Sony for the warz or whatever. I just want them to deliver with what is pretty much the best 1st party line up and it's not happening.
I just don't want companies to get a free pass for delivering lip service and games that are far from release. I mean Shenmue is not even a thing yet, it's an idea that is years away and has every chance of not happening.

I would like to see a solid explanation as well. I own a PS3 and a 360 but have thus far skipped this generation. I can tell you as a non-participant, I was chomping at the bit over Sony and Microsoft looked like the same-old same-old. Different strokes though.

yikes.

Bethesda, 5/10 - There just wasn't a whole lot announced and the only game I could see myself maybe playing is Doom.

MS, 6/10 - I wasn't following it the whole time, but again there's not a lot that I really want that was shown. It was still decently packed though with Halo, Gears, and Cuphead on my watch list.

EA, 5/10 - Unravel, Mirror's Edge, and Battlefront look fantastic, but nothing outside of that and terrible pacing.

Ubi, 7/10 - Aside from Just Dance, they easily had the best pacing out of any of the conferences. Still, not a whole lot I'm dying to play.

Sony, 8/10 - Once again, Sony goes on for thirty minutes too long, but they still get bonus points for obvious reasons. I'm really glad those three huge titles got announced, although I probably won't play any of them aside from maybe TLG and that's a big maybe. Other than that, Horizon and Uncharted look incredible.

Nintendo, 6/10 - Absolutely no big surprises, no big new Wii U games, and bad pacing. They are luckily redeemed by the hilarious puppet shenanigans and the fact that they mostly showed games I can play within six months. Yoshi, Mario Maker, XCX, Star Fox, and Zelda all look great with M&L X Paper Mario to look forward to early next year hopefully.

Overall, pretty eh E3 for me but not terrible by any means.

New Mario, new Starfox, new Zelda, NEW METROID...

possibly the most misleading thing I've ever read lol

proof that you could spin anything that's awful to make it sound awesome

My random thoughts in a wall of text.

Bethesda - 7.5

Thought they did a pretty great job. Spent about as much time on each part as they had to never really overstaying their welcome. The whole Fallout segment was fantastic. Everything about the game impressed me, even Fallout Shelter and the release date was perfect. Doom underwhelmed me a little though it still looked pretty good. Liked how tense that last gameplay demo felt. Snapmap seems cool.

Microsoft - 5.5

Felt their normally good demo showing was hugely lacking which really hurt. Thought Halo single player demo was awful but the multi looked great. And their Gears showing was the worst of the show imo. Backwards compatibility and the minecraft hololens demo were their highlights. They got me to buy Tomb Raider with their showing. Liked: Fallout pc mods, Indies (Below, Recruits, Ark, Tacoma, Ashen, Beyond Eyes, Cuphead demo), Elite on console, Rare collection (price and date a plus) and Recore seemed interesting. Didn't think anything else was particularly good. Wanted to see more of Forza.

EA - 3

We knew Mass Effect was coming but they showed nothing to interest someone with a casual interest in it. More of a confirmation I suppose. Liked: Need for Speed graphically stood out, PvZ: GW2 single player stuff is the best, their golf game has me interested, female teams in fifa, loved mirror's edge 1 so anything mirror's edge is a plus, battlefront looked impressive. The rest which should have been serviceable was pretty terrible. The GAF thread reactions kept me entertained throughout.

Ubisoft - 6

Fairly standard showing from them I feel. South Park 2 was a cool surprise, funny as usual. For Honor seemed cool, liked what they showed of it. Thought some of the environments were pretty stunning in the Ghost Recon trailer. Looking at my notes it all seemed pretty underwhelming. The GAF thread again was ridiculously entertaining.

Sony - 10

Such a weird feeling with all the rumor drama just prior to the event and then having it all come true still seems unfathomable that it actually happened. The FF7 rumor thread and the trickling of "confirmations" was ridiculous. I was also certain that the Shenmue one would never come true, TLG - likely, FF7 - hopeful but no way for Shenmue. To see it all unfold so quickly over the event was a dream come true.
The Last Guardian still looked pretty great and you can already tell how much you'll end up enjoying the relationship between the two heroes. Final Fantasy 7 was my favorite game for many, many years and bought tears to my eyes when it was announced. I spent a few hours yesterday watching people's reaction videos. Very moving.
The rest of what Sony showed was also pretty damn good as well. Liked: Horizons, the No Man's Sky map zoom moment, Dreams, Firewatch, the Devolver games montage, Batman's demo, and Uncharted 4 looked absolutely stunning and was by far the best demo all e3. The show tapered towards the end but by then it was already a great show.

Nintendo - 2

I was disappointed they didn't choose to have a proper conference as I really enjoy the audience reactions. Then again it was surprising they didn't actually have much to show. Star Fox looked good but really rough graphically. The rest was really a mixed bag. I can't really find too many more positives. I did enjoy the Miyamoto chat about Mario Maker. Oh and the Animal Crossing amiibo's looked really cute.

Square Enix - 4.5

Felt like a conference from years past the way it was presented. I think they tried but didn't have a tremendous amount to show off. I feel they did an injustice to Just Cause the way they showed it off, though it still looks cool. Liked: the Nier annoucement, Lara looked beautiful in the tech showing - super impressive, that one guy between trolled by the first Kingdom Hearts showing, the actual demo to Kingdom Hearts 3 and hearing about Star Ocean and the Tokyo RPG factory announcement. There were funny moments throughout but I thought it was pretty sweet seeing the devs act human.

Easily Microsoft. Solid 8.5-9/10.

More games for my taste that are coming this year.

Sony, 7.5-8.

Only games that I cared for were Horizon and Uncharted.

Was unable to catch a anything else.

Super excited about Ghost Recon though.

I know this thread is subjective but i cannot understand how people put Sony and MS's conferences at the same level. Even less so... MS above Sony, subjective i know but still.
Because they both had a lot of good content? Sony had more holy shit moments and Microsoft had a more conventional, but still packed conference.

Sony (A+) - they dropped some big bombs each without allowing time for rest from the fallout. Uncharted 4 also looks much more fun than the psx demo.

MS (A-) - showed what rare was doing, showed amazing halo gameplay, announced BC, and Gears muthafuckin 4!

Nintendo (F) - seems like they did the best they could while likely devoting all resources somewhere else (NX). Conference was a steaming pile of shit.

EA (C-) - pretty bad conference, too much time spent on crap. No mention of criterion's game. Battlefront was ultra badass though.

Microsoft: B+ (if I owned an XB1 I would be very happy with what they showed, especially their indie showing was surprisingly strong)
Sony B- (Horizon is so good, all the other Megatons did nothing for me. Rime and Wild and good indie games missing as well as most of their studios, i.e. no word on the future of Evolution makes me sad).

I only took in the big three console makers' conferences. In order of appearance:

Microsoft: B-
Nothing earth-shattering here, and they still strike me -- presentationally -- as a douchey company, but it seemed like they were trying. Really nice focus on games, and big ups for finally realizing that they should probably, you know, do something with Rare. Plenty of games to go around, and Hololens has quite a bit of "wow" factor. Backward compatibility is a nice touch (I'm glad someone other than Nintendo is paying attention to it). Nothing monumental in terms of games, but it's hard to complain about this one.

Sony: A-
Though I'd really like to rate them lower just to offset the ridiculous Sony-jerkin' hyperbole in this thread, these guys know how to deliver an E3 that gets the fans (and, more importantly, the press) pumped. I don't know how it might be received by the general public, but announcing Shenmue 3, The Last Guardian and a remake of Final Fantasy VII sure does fulfill a "hardcore gamer" narrative in a big way, and that's not only smart, it's a lot of fun to watch. The Last Guardian may very well be my personal E3 standout, too.

That said, the minus comes from the fact that it's clearly a lot of bombast that we're lapping up. I mean, we got a half second of pre-rendered footage of Cloud's back and a laughably voiced/not very impressive short clip of a crowdfunded Shenmue. And neither of these are coming any time soon. In that respect, Sony errs more toward hype than actual content, which is a big failing of E3 in general. But I'll be damned if the hype doesn't taste good.

Nintendo:
E3 Package: B-
Digital Event: D

This one is tricky. I've voiced my opinion of the Digital Event all day, and it ain't pretty. However, we have to rate this as a package deal, since Nintendo has taken their own unique approach to E3. Three years running, I have to say that this approach is still leagues better than that of their peers. The Nintendo World Championships were phenomenal, the Earthbound announcement came out of nowhere, and the new Smash Bros. content -- especially Ryu -- is pretty damned hype-inducing (I can't knock Ninty for the fact that it got leaked). Treehouse continues to be a universal good in the gaming world, and Nintendo continues to have a knack for choosing charming, articulate, and seemingly genuine folks to represent its content at E3. Most importantly, the 2015 lineup itself is still wonderful, and I respect their focus on gameplay, developers, and games coming in the immediate future. So that would elevate their overall score to a B- for me.

On the other hand, the Digital Event itself was utterly disappointing. It started strong with fantastic presentational value (the puppets were great) and Star Fox, then devolved into 45 more minutes of almost unbelievable deflation. Again, I love the focus on developers, the intimate dev interviews and the devs themselves, but it worked last year because Splatoon was new. Zelda for Wii U was new. We'd seen but a few seconds of Yoshi before then. This year, we'd seen these games before, and thoroughly at that.

Now take that and sandwich it among a black hole of announcements -- not a single new Wii U announcement to really get anyone excited -- and the monumental fuck-ups that are our new Metroid and Animal Crossing games, and you have a slow, painful trainwreck. Again, the actual 2015 lineup is great. But as an E3 presentation, I'm still in shock that anyone could've signed off on that one.

Sony - Best conference of all time. They got the pacing right for all the moaners too. Seriously the best conference ever AINEC.

SE - Being a Square fanboy, they took my second spot easily. Cant wait for the King to make its comeback next year.

Bathesda - Incredible first conference. Hyped for F4.

MS - Good conference but only thing that appealed to me was BC and Sea of Thieves.

Ubisoft - Decent conference.

Nintendo - REALLY UNDERWHELMING. XCX is looking ickier now.

EA - GODAWFUL. But fck EA anyways.

This keynote absolutely convinced me that haters will hate, and that Nintendo hasn't changed, and that's a good thing in my book. Slightly low marks because it failed on one important note: audience. This was a keynote for people that already own these systems, these games will do nothing to expand that userbase sadly.
My biggest question is the same as yours: Did you watch the same keynote as the rest of us? I remember seeing some spec ops mode game with futuristic blaster soccer but not this new Metroid you're freaking out over.

This is probably the most confusing statement I've seen this week. Games for everyone?

SONY has not only done the best conference this year, but the best conference in recent memory. I am honestly convinced that there will not be a better conference for decades. Sony turned myths into reality, games that had no reason to exist, now exist. The whole E3 conference was fanfic.

Microsoft - C+

Great focus on games and they have a great holiday line up for this year but its still the Halo/Forza/Gears trifecta with a little sprinkle of timed exclusive Tomb Raider that did not impress me at all in the gameplay they showed. Backwards compat was interesting but not enough games work with it right now and I have no idea how well they will run. Recore looked interesting. Rare's new game looks great too. Don't believe that Hololens demo for a second. The Gears demo at the end was awful, looked like it was going for something Resident Evil and I couldn't see shit because everything was so dark and they closed on that.

Bethesda - B

Fantastic first conference with great gameplay on show from Doom right at the start. Great Mod support for their games and Fallout 4 looks full of content even though I'm not a fan of the series. Even the mobile game they showed looked like a lot of fun. Dishonored 2 has me excited although I was a little disappointed we didn't get to see gameplay of it. Fallout 4 looks dated and the animations were just sad and I know its nitpicky but it bothered me. Still, great first showing.

EA - D
Sports games using last gen engines and a long rambling interview with Pele. Only good things at the conference were Battlefront gameplay and a look at the new Mirror's Edge. Yarn game was cute and I felt bad for shaky guy.

Ubisoft - F

Aisha's forced humor, more South Park (ugh), and a mini performance from some singer guy. More of the innovative open world cinematic experience like Assassin's Creed London and Assassin's Creed Ghost Recon NARCS and Ghost Recon Post Apocalypse Team Killing. Only good thing from this was Rainbow Six for me.

Sony - A-

Last Guardian. FF7 Remake. Shenmue 3. Horizon looked really, really, cool and I want to see what Guerrilla does with it. Uncharted demo was fantastic and just made Tomb Raider look last gen. Dream was weird and I'm not sure I like it but I don't really know what it is. Short Morpheus talk was disappointing but understandable. Big lack of holiday exclusives but the future is still very bright with early 2016 and Battlefront looked exciting. Without the 3 big announcements this would have been a C+ really because Sony needs to show whats cooking in their first party studios. RIP Vita.

Nintendo - lol

Star Fox that looked like a 3DS game and has no multiplayer. Generic Metroid without Samus. Everything was Super Mario Maker. Bizarre Paper Mario crossover. Animal Crossing Wii U is just a little party game. Xenoblade not until end of year. Only thing I liked was Yokai Watch which I've been waiting for a while now.

Square - B

Eidos stuff all looked great. Deus Ex, Hitman, and Just Cause 3 were all interesting and looked like a lot of fun. New Nier with art from a great artist and gameplay from Platinum! Great KH3 trailer and they actually kept the Mobile stuff to a minimum and what they did show looked good too. FF7 Remake. Star Ocean 5 looked better than I thought it would. New RPG from a new studio has me excited. It was a fun conference.

Oculus : 3 - Bad
Missed half, yet didn't miss much. Still no real reason to want it.

NWC : 7 - Good
Expected it to suck bad, was really surprised because it was entertaining.

Bethesda : 5 - Okay

There was Fallout, which isn't going in a direction I'm fond of, and Doom which looks like Doom, but could do better.

Microsoft :6 - Decent
Most of what was showed doesn't appeal to me tbh, still a decent conference, good pacing, some cool stuff for the fans. Lack of interesting announcements.

EA : 3 - Bad
Here's an idea for you EA : do a two part conference, EA Sports and EA Games. That would save everyone time. You're welcome, it's free.

Ubisoft : 5 - Okay
I have no interest in most of their games, but For Honor might be cool, possibly, and Anno do have my interest, for now.

Sony : 8 - Great - Should be 7 but +1 cause hype.
The big 3 : well played, the hype machine will do the rest.
Horizon looks very cool, even Uncharted looked great (and I'm not fond of it to begin with).
Meaningwhile, RIP Vita, not a mention of Persona 5, still short on exclusives titles.
What's coming soonish ?

Nintendo : 4 - Not Okay - Should be 5 but -1 for disapointment
Puppet & pacing : Great
Star Fox : at least it's a real Star Fox, gameplay is there
Super Mario Maker : awesome.
The spin-off madness : disappointing. Nothing to go batshit crazy and make some stupid petition about and/or cry a river though.
What it needed : at least a strong new title.

Square Enix : 6 - Good
Decent stuff for the fans, JRPG ! That's already better than I expected. Some classic trolling for good mesure too.
Way too talkative in the beginning though, the long narrated Just Cause trailer was a pain to hear, even EA didn't manage to make me mute the stream ffs.
And yeah who cares about Dragon Quest anyway.

PC : 5 - Okay
Worst first 30min of any conference, like wow this was terribad. Then they pick up the pace and it was okay-ish to good. Great and funny host, but really lacked more announcements to keep things interesting overall. Probably bored a lot of people too. And we get it that you sponsor it AMD, just try to be a bit more subtle next time.

Overall :
I could do without :
- the overly-scripted "real" gameplay, or how to make any presentation even worse.
- the mobile segments, at least for the casuals cash grab
- long monologue, keep the self-congratulation to the minimum if at all, no one cares.
And I could do with some actual gameplay too while I'm at it, let the game speak for itself. Especially when said game is coming in the next 6 month.

Bethesda: B+ I really liked everything shown from Doom to Fallout 4.it was a nice conference

Microsoft: Did Not Watch.

EA: Did Not Watch

Ubisoft: C- it was alright, For Honor Looks cool,I can't say I'm really excited about anything else.

Sony: A-
The Tri Force of The Last Guardian,FF7:Remake and Shenmue 3.

Planets Aligned for this moment. I'm still in shock. Horizon is what I exactly wanted! Hurray for ROBO DINOS!!!. Firewatch is on my "ones to look out for " list.

Nintendo: D-

Uhh..there's still StarFox Right.....? Ehhhh. I hated this event. This was not Nintendo's Strongest Moment. I'm really dissappointed in that Animal Crossing Amiibo game.. I was hoping for the real thing. I'm beginning to dislike Amiibos now.

Square Enix B+: The Redemption Award Goes to..: SE! Nice Conference, World Of FF looks cool, KH3 looks Beautiful. Oh and Nier2.. BY PLATINUM SAYYY WHAAAAT. I honest to god believe this company is on the right path you can do it SE. Become the powerhouse you once were again.

That Project Setuna Game... There's a feeing about this game that I can't shake off I feel like I know it's a beloved franchise that we haven't seen in a long time. I have a feeling it could be a Spiritual Successor to Chrono Trigger. But who knows?

Oculus: 3/10
This conference spelled nothing but blatant skepticism on my end for the VR market. The lack of a price point is one thing which is already going to be a barrier but having to divide the open PC market even further by making goggle-exclusive games is unfathomable. Couple that with generally uninteresting exclusives and some disappointing decisions of what to focus on and this one was a let down.

Bethesda: 7/10
Good games all around, good showing. Doom needs to be better but the second footage was better than the first which was clearly QuakeCon 2014 stuff. I'm hoping for the best. Fallout 4 looks alright.

Microsoft: 6/10
A good proposition in making the console itself a better investment in value, and not much more than that. Very safe and I generally get the sense that they're hiding a lot of good stuff. I'm happy they got Rare working on their original thing but it's about the most uninteresting thing I could imagine they'd do.

EA: 4/10
The insufferable downtime was only offset by Mirror's Edge and Star Wars Battlefront being surprisingly that good, but overall it was a long-drawn out tedium that still makes it evident how business-like this company treats it's presentations, more-so than any other of the companies.

Ubisoft: 5/10
South Park 2 was a great way to kick off things and I appreciate them trying to liven up the party with a decent host but so much of Ubi's games are blending into indiscernible hodgepodge and I care little for the forced "meme"age. Acting like the co-ordination in their games is anywhere near that is hilarious and if any company embodies "fool me once, etc." then Ubi is it.

Sony: 8/10
The fact that I didn't actually care for many of the hyped up conference reveals in terms of what they are or how they look still says a lot in terms of the way I feel Sony nailed this conference. I hold nothing but the highest level of skepticism towards these anticipated titles - The Last Guardian looks underwhelming to me after the years of wait, I still don't care for FFVII enough to think it warrants a full-on remake and I've never played Shenmue to have an opinion there. In spite of this, I thought it was worth staying awake for Sony for once. They delivered one constant knock-out punch after another in terms of giving the audiences what they want, with the only sore point being that Call of Duty segment. They've finally figured out how to do an engaging conference - it's just a shame that most of these hyped up games are nowhere near coming out.

Nintendo: 6/10
The more I let this conference actually sink in the more I find it hard to actually be upset about it, and I'm not able to call this a bad conference. I'm mostly just a bit bummed. I've said this a few times before but presentation has consistently been Nintendo's strong point since they adopted the Digital Event and E3 experience, and that's no exception here. All the good beats and general direction that was present last year is also accounted for here. It's just a shame that the content itself is just not enough to carry a conference, which drags the polish down. Most of these games are games I will buy and probably enjoy but they didn't inspire a huge level of excitement. In a traditional E3 format that's largely disappointing and I feel like I didn't temper my expectations enough. Regardless, Super Mario Maker ended up becoming my game of the show, and the NWC + Treehouse segment that comprised the entire backdrop of Nintendo's presence were highly enjoyable. Overall, still feeling like the Wii U is having another good year in terms of quality games but it's becoming increasingly evident that beyond 2015 it's looking for an early retirement, and that's probably the reason the conference felt so deprived, and mostly just bittersweet. It was things we already knew about, not acknowledging the fears of what is to be there beyond that. And that's nothing to be ashamed about. The Wii U had a great run, I love the thing and it's gotten some of Nintendo's best games, but Nintendo can't carry this thing on it's own in it's current capacity, and because of that the company is bound to have a bad year every once in a while, particularly when it's clear they're leading up to a new console to replace it.

Square Enix: 6/10
This thing fluctuated up and down so indecisively and I didn't care for many of the same things they showed twice, but I give major props for Nier 2 and Star Ocean 5. I still can't say I care for the whole "reveal games years before they're even ready" approach that Square Enix has because it represents everything wrong with hype culture. But despite that, the games look good. For now.

PC: ??/10
Haven't seen it, sounds like it was pretty underwhelming, but I heard Killer Instinct PC got announced, and even Gears Ultimate, so I'm mostly satisfied.

Overall a decent E3 with good stuff from mostly every major developer.

Podium:
1st: Ubisoft - A fun, fast moving conference, backed up with some interesting new games, and others which we can still hope they haven't ruined. Lots of gameplay trailers, not so much CG.
2nd: Squeenix - Not a lot of gameplay, but a bunch of sequels in the works to highly regarded games. A new studio for JRPGs, and the most intense audience trolling of all-time.
3rd: Nintendo - Dull direct, countered by an amazing World Championship beforehand. Some terrible reveals of 3DS games that actually sound pretty good once you learn a bit more about them, and a lack of surprises countered by some highly anticipated games we get to play this year.

Runners-up:
4th: EA - One of the most awful conferences I can remember, saved by Unravel. The Battlefront gameplay made the game look pretty boring, although I still imagine that's not actually the case. Pelé.
5th: MS - Quite a nice conference, but when I was checked my notes at the end I had Backwards Compatibility and Rare Collection as the high points. A great day for the 360 and N64 which I already own.
6th: Sony - Hype, hype, hype... and nothing to show for it. Everyone went crazy for TLG, and I look forward to playing through the story, but the area shown looked really unimpressive, and the lack of release date was an insult. Shenmue III kickstarter was shady as fuck, and the way it was unveiled was a complete slap in the face to those waiting for the game. Sony are back on my anti-trust list along with MS. Uncharted was very pretty to watch, but with gameplay still about 2 generations behind.

I've noticed people keep mentioning Nintendo Treehouse as a reason to not grade Nintendo solely based on their digital event. If you are interested in Xbox at all be sure to check out the Xbox Daily shows at E3. So far they have been pretty great and delivered much more information than the conference.

Yoshichan

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
I have never given a conference a 9... I've been shitting on the three giants year over year, giving them 8 and below (averaging out at like 5/10 each year).

This year, Sony got a 10.

A perfect 10.

Never to be beaten again, in the history of video games.

Sony: A why?
hype2qplvg.gif

Easily takes the spot for my favourite e3 ever.

Microsoft: B-
Underwhelming demoes and the best thing to come out of it was BC and i wouldnt even use it. The interesting indies and recore pulled it up abit for me.

Nintendo: D-
Just very average. Bland. Nothing stand out. Dry developer talks. You can tell they were just tryna fill up time when they were explaining the logistics of super mario W1-1

Square Enix: B+
they gave me Nier 2 Platinum Developed aswell as KH3 ENGLISH gameplay holy shyt aswell as introducing a new rpg studio oh man. That mobile KH game looks kinda cool aswell.

Those are the ones i watched.
