Bethesda - B-
They had a solid presser. I thought Fallout 4 looked amazing, and I like the fact that you can choose to play female too. Very rich and detailed game, which I think fans will enjoy immensely. Dishonored 2 and Doom also looked interesting.
Microsoft - C-
Microsoft started out guns blazing with the announcement of backwards compatibly. That's a huge feature which I think will be a very big draw to the Xbox brand. After that, things started to go down from there and it turned into a somewhat average presser. We did not see any major surprises on the gaming front, and the games that they did show did not really entice me. We really could do without yet another Gear. Next time, bring more new IP's like that Rare game; Microsoft.
EA - C+
What a polarizing show. The highs were high, and the lows were certainly low. I really, really loved the fact that we finally got to see a glimpse of one of my most anticipated games; Mirror's Edge. I really love the franchise, and I'm very happy with the direction Dice has taken. Great display. I also loved DICE's StarWars: Battlefront. Looked freaking amazing. The Mass Effect trailer was cool too, although we didn't see much. Now to the bad stuff. I can understand that that they talk sports, even though it's boring as hell, but that mobile stuff was agonizing to watch. The story time with Pele could of been reserved for some other event. At E3, we expect all the major stuff, not good night stories.
Ubisoft - C+
I usually always enjoy Ubisoft's pressers, but I thought it was weak on the content side this year. I personally wasn't really exciting to see the new stuff they brought forward. Ghost Recon didn't do anything to me, nor did South Park or Ass Creed. I really wanted Ubisoft to blow us the fuck away with Beyond Good and Evil 2 -- but alas, it did not happen. That live performance was...very unneeded, too. It was so bad. Overall though, the show had a consistent flow. Aisha's a very entertaining host.
Sony - A+
There has been so much speculation prior to this show happening. The Last Guardian was on everybody's lips whether they'd finally show it or not -- and boy oh boy did Sony deliver. Not only did we get one of the most anticipated game of all time,
we got three!. I mean, if you bring one of the immortal legends, you basically win E3 by default -- Sony went all out by giving us The Last Guardian, the Final Fantasy VII Remake and Shenmue 3. Never have I seen a conference like this where three of the most anticipated games ever showed up. It was earth shattering. Neogaf overloaded multiple times -- Kickstarter completely crashed. The internet went crazy. Just: Woah! Besides the Holy Trinity, we also got to see a new exciting game from Guerilla Games, a completely new Hitman trailer and Uncharted 4. This was easily the best show I have ever seen, and will go down in history as such.
Nintendo - F
I don't know what the hell that was. While the others made a genuine attempt to make the best show they could make, Nintendo didn't even bother trying. What a worthless, dumb and awfully bizarre show by Nintendo. I've been mystified by this company for years, and yesterday just reinforced my beliefs that Nintendo as a company truly are out of touch. I know that they're in a transitional period right now, with the Wii U basically being dead, but they could at least had shown us the anticipated games that fans were waiting for. Where was Zelda U? I also secretly wished that we'd see a new Donkey Kong or a completely new Metroid -- but instead we got some anime games. This is probably the worst show I've seen from Nintendo. Absolutely horrible. I miss the strong Nintendo that had strong games, and a strong E3 presence. Nintendo showed neither this year. An utter and complete disaster.
Square-Enix - B+
The presser felt a bit stale and awkward at times with its presentation, but it was very rich and exciting content wise. I'm really happy that we finally got to see KH3. Fans have been waiting for years, so that's a really exciting game to see. I'm personally happy that we also got to see more of Hitman. I really like the fact that they're stepping away from the Absolution direction and are gearing it more towards a Blood Money one. That is a Hitman game. Beyond that, we got the amazing NieR 2 coming out -- and it's Platinum Games making it. That's uber exciting, and I can't wait to see more. Also, I'm very, very happy that Square is doing the immortal remake. We didn't get to see anything new content wise as the game has just started production, but to know that it's finally happening is fucking fantastic. Yes!!
Final thoughts
To add: That MGS V trailer by Kojima was breathtaking. I can't believe that this is the last one made by him.
Overall, this E3 will go down in the history books. The gimmick shit was pretty much nonexistent. We saw a little bit of VR, but since that's in its early stages, we got more focus on what actually matters: Games. This E3 was truly dedicated to gamers, and I honestly couldn't be happier with it. I'm very much looking forward to the future.
